{Ed014's Note - I was really hoping we’d go for Baleba rather than Zubimendi.
Watched Zubimendi a couple of times in European games, didn’t do a lot at all and looked very light weight.
Baleba however looks all action, much younger, prem proven and can score a goal or two.

Lots of chatter about a youngsters called Sverre Nypan. Have any Eds got any info please. Seems he's highly rated.
Also Evan Ferguson. Perhaps he is being considered as a bit of help for Havertz who it's been reported had to be helped off at the weekend as he was so knackered.

I believe Nypan should be all set to join, there were other offers but he seems set on Arsenal.

I get a feeling that this arsenal set up will not budge on the type of player they want and won't rush into any knee jerk signings.
Sesko is the player they want it would seem and he is not coming this winter, part of me likes this approach as we have made some poor decision in the past when not securing our first choice target, however it does seem to me that we don't seem to have any other close choices, it cost us in the summer, and it looks like costing us in the winter transfer window.
I am not sure if I feel this is good practice and having a vision of who we want or just bloody singly mindedness that is having a negitive impact on our squad development.

Yes, we should try MLS in the midfield with Calafiori and Tierney/ Zinny to cover LB. Trossard was also substituted so we should go with Martinelli at the centre and Nwaneri and Saka on either side.

I think Martinelli has real potential down the middle Highbury, he's fast, skilful and can finish and even though he can tend to get caught offside too often practice makes perfect.

I had high hopes from Martinelli and thought he could be closest we had to Henry, however, he has realised the potential and his graph is way below Saka’s. I also feel we should cash in on him this summer and replace him with either Nico Williams/ Kudus/ Eze/ Sane.

Me too Sally, I thought he would be well suited to the role for a few years. Although Theo was never as good as Martinelli I always thought he would have been a bigger asset down the middle than he ever was con the wing on a regular basis.

Agree Ed, Trossard may be a good option from the bench but we definitely need an upgrade and get some cash for both now.
{Ed025's Note - they dont cross well enough Highbury and go missing in games...especially the big ones, Saka is brilliant on the right but you definitely need a left winger mate...then someone who can convert them into goals of course..

I think Martinelli did brilliantly when we were starting Tierney. His form/ goals dropped when we started playing Zinchenko which left Martinelli covering the entire left wing. And imo, he still has to do that and always puts in 100%, pressuring in the opposition box and then covering every inch of the left side whilst still trying to get back up to the byline or into the box. I'd love him to be given a proper chance to show what he can do again without the shackles of having to track back or being told to run forward then stop and pass back/ to the middle as there's noone to pass to in the box.

Interesting to read possibilities for Ode's recent drop off.
1. Playing through the pain barrier following his injury.
2. Missing the White/ Saka/ Ode combo which worked so well last season.
3. Lack of sleep with a new baby.
All plausible and of course could be all three at the same time.
My main concern is that he seems to have lost a lot of weight. That puts up red flags for me as a possible problem.

Some players recover better and faster from long term injury than others is my guess Sally.
For some players the psychological effects take longer to over come than the physical effects of an injury. Without Saka and White I thought it was not having either of his regular partners that might be the problem but he doesn't seem to have improved at all even with Saka.
To be honest if it really is that needs both Saka and White to be a good player for us then we'd be better off letting him go because he clearly isn't good enough in his own right.

Hi SW mate, I always thought he was a strage choice as captain as he seems quite quiet for a captain, but having said that I'm not really sure what a captains roll is in the modern game.
I know back in the day the players persuaded Tony Adams to go and see George about him increasing their win bonus which apparently was quite low compared to other clubs. Tony came back with good news and bad news his teammates, George had flatly refused to increase the win bonus for the team but as a compromise did agree to increase Tony's basic wages putting Tony in no mood to argue ????.

Hi Sally, I hadn't eaten jam on toast for more than 30 years until last summer when on holiday and now I'm back into it, I try to limit myself to once a week ?
Saliba is a top quality player and few really top quality players say no to Real forever.
I don't think the lad has made any secret of the fact he'd like to play for Real one day so I'm guessing that's the cash cow the media wil continue to milk until he either finally joins them one day or retires playing. I take heart from the fact that for every ton of media gossip manufactured less than an ounce of reality is produced.

That's what I have been thinking ED14. He seems so gaunt in the face, I was worried it could be an eating disorder .
