Shoutout to Ed002 and all the eds for their hard work this crazy transfer window. Thank you all, hope you are having a lie-in this morning ? ?.
29 Aug 2024 13:09:12
Good afternoon ed002, is there a possibility Arsenal might be in for Santiago Gimenez at this late hour?
{Ed002's Note - Santiago Gimenez (S) Had another good season at Feyenoord and attracting interest of Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea, Lille, Spurs, Real Madrid, Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt. He has become the first choice Harry Kane replacement for Spurs after they lost out on their preferred option last summer but not first choice for Chelsea or Real Madrid - although don't discount either. Spurs have an advantage that Feyenoord are interested in a Spurs player, Barcelona may offer a wildcard option following a discussion between Deco and someone they are trying to recruit. Arsenal sent scouts but have preferred options, although they are falling by the wayside so don't discuss them. Others, such as Nottingham Forest, Marseille, Crystal Palace and West Ham can be discounted. Lille and Eintracht Frankfurt would only be viable if they make significant sales and others drop out. Cost could be pretty high - they will look for perhaps €55M - ending interest of most of these clubs. Don't discount Napoli who are planning for life after Osimhen or Milan after failing with Sesko.}
1.) 29 Aug 2024 14:20:56
Thanks as always ed002 ?.
31 Jul 2024 16:49:42
Interesting to see we are being linked with Leroy Sane.
10 Jul 2024 09:41:17
Morning ed002, do Arsenal still have Toney as their first choice striker?
{Ed002's Note - Ivan Toney (S) Brentford do not want to sell but are aware Toney may look to move up a step and will reluctantly look to perhaps £70M as a sale price in the summer - but will likely not get anything close to that. It would be driven by situation which could see him run down his contract next season and leave as a Free Agent - so Brentford will seek a new cantract. Newcastle no longer offer the chance of a return to the club who previously could find no use for him in the three years he was there. Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham have all sent scouts on more than one occasion to watch him prior to his ban, but Chelsea and Spurs have preferred options meaning West Ham, Arsenal or Manchester United are likely best placed to complete a transfer, lthough Spurs are struggling to sign their two preferred choices and may turn to him. Was first choice for Arsenal but that has disappeared as the price does not drop to perhaps £40M. Aston Villa are losing Duran and could look to him.}
1.) 10 Jul 2024 11:03:19
Great info Ed, thanks. Do Arsenal have a ‘first choice’ forward option? Intrigued to know if we will go for a main striker or a wide forward.
{Ed002's Note - It probably looks like this right now:
Karim Adeyemi (LW/S) Versatile forward who has not regained his form since moving to Dortmund and has been rather inconsistant. Prior interest of Atalanta fhas gone. Offered to Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool but each has preferred options. A wildcard might be Juventus as cover.
Jonathan David (S/AM) Lille, like many French clubs were hit hard by the loss of broadcast revenue and will need to sell some of their more valuable assets even though they do not want to. Jonathan David is valued by Lille at an unrealistic €60M. Napoli and Spurs no longer see him as a possible addition due to his price. Real Madrid have previously declared an interest but their focus has turned away as they wanted to include a player in any deal. He has been recommended to Chelsea by an ex player but the club have preferred targets - although his agent remains very keen on the move and remains in discussions with Chelsea. The Manchester United coach tried to take him to Ajax and could potentially look to taking him to Manchester United but I suspect that option will go if ten Hag departs. Aston Villa or Milan may offer a viable solution but the fee is a huge issue. A wildcard would be Brentford or Arsenal.
Ivan Toney (S) Brentford do not want to sell but are aware Toney may look to move up a step and will reluctantly look to perhaps £70M as a sale price in the summer - but will likely not get anything close to that. It would be driven by situation which could see him run down his contract next season and leave as a Free Agent - so Brentford will seek a new cantract. Newcastle no longer offer the chance of a return to the club who previously could find no use for him in the three years he was there. Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham have all sent scouts on more than one occasion to watch him prior to his ban, but Chelsea and Spurs have preferred options meaning West Ham, Arsenal or Manchester United are likely best placed to complete a transfer, lthough Spurs are struggling to sign their two preferred choices and may turn to him. Was first choice for Arsenal but that has disappeared as the price does not drop to perhaps £40M. Aston Villa are losing Duran and could look to him.
Ollie Watkins (S) Agent is looking for options and has spoken with Arsenal.
Victor Osimhen (S) Napoli made it clear to Chelsea who enquired in 2021 that even €100M would not buy the player - but they do maintain an interest and he has been first choice and expect an offer to be made in the summer. Al Hilal may well have offered Napoli the €200M they were looking for, but that may not suit the player just yet. PSG and Real Madrid could look to him as an option but Madrid would want to offer players in exchange. He has signed a new contract and, at the behest of his agent, included a release clause. Arsenal have a preferred option and see the price as too high. There is a suggestion that Liverpool have negotiated directly with the player and his agent and not spoken to Napoli. Given Napoli registered a complaint against Liverpool over another player last year, it would seem unlikely, or particularly stupid. In the players hands next summer - may decide to stay but there will be a return from Michael Emanalo with a very good offer but I understand that Chelsea will inform Napoli that they will pay his €130M release clause in full in the summer.
Dusan Vlahovic (S) Only joined in January 2022 but financial issues that Juventus now have and goalscoring problems will determine that he is sold in the summer – but they will hold out for €70M. Regardless of his loss of form, there will be a lot of interest if he is and his agent has approached Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG. Real Madrid are also keen but, like Chelsea, have preferred targets. Chelsea were open to an exchange of players last summer but right now there is no push as his wage demands are seen as excessive and they will look to other targets first. PSG have him as a possible Mbappe replacement - but not first choice - but don't lose sight of them. As a wildcard, Arsenal may rekindle interest but would likely want to include players in any deal. Juventus have already drawn up a list of potential replacements and are working on those but a new contract on lower terms might suit them best.
Viktor Gyokeres (S) After only joining last summer Sporting have no interest in selling but fear a club could simply pay his €100M buy out clause in full and try to persuade him to move. Sporting fear Chelasea may do that and have avoided the subject during discussions over another player and a separate issue - and Chelsea has a preferred option. He has attracted scouts representing Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal with Arsenal seeing him as an option to Toney. Spurs may offer a wildcard option but have a preferred option to effectively replace Kane which they failed to do last summer. Sporting are looking to a new contract and an increase in his buy-out clause. Injury will keep him out to probably mid to late July or so. Will likely stay.

Watching Ramsdale these days he seems so lacking in confidence. Not sure if it is lack of game time or lack of defensive backup but he certainly looks vulnerable. Sad to see.
Hope he gets his mojo back soon.
1.) 30 Oct 2024 17:17:34
He's certainly had a knock back to his career Sally but he looked in a really good place mentally with England in the Euros all beit from tge bench. It's got to be difficult playing behind the best defence in the league to playing behind a defence trying to find its Premier league legs.
{Ed025's Note - i think he has been found out a bit G62, personally i was never a fan mate and if you want to win things a great keeper is essential, its no coincidence that Liverpool and City have great keepers and now Villa have Martinez they are right up there as well, they all earn their teams significant points during the season..
2.) 30 Oct 2024 19:17:29
Hi Ed025 mate, I didn't agree with Arteta dropping Ramsdale for Raya at the time but credit where it's due he called It right mate.
{Ed025's Note - i think so too G62, im not saying Raya is of the highest quality just yet mate but hes certainly an upgrade on Ramsdale imo..
3.) 30 Oct 2024 20:05:54
He’s not an upgrade on Emi who he sold…. Still don’t like Raya at corners as he’s so small and gets bullied a bit. Shame we don’t have Emi still - dumb as decision selling him.
{Ed014's Note - Emi is a prize prick and wouldn’t want that clown anywhere near our club. Thinks he’s way better than he is.
4.) 30 Oct 2024 23:03:04
Bugger, your really not a happy bunny about much at all with this Arsenal are you SY.
I know your really happy with life away from football, so if this Arsenal team team and manager are genuinely the only blight on your otherwise happy life wouldn't you be wise to call it a day with Arsenal. we've have had so many worse times over the past 20 years than we are currently experiencing yet you seem to be more unhappy about more things than ever. Difficult to see what you get from Arsenal now days mate.
5.) 31 Oct 2024 01:47:57
Can someone explain to me how Emi has won best keeper in the world two years in a row when he's not even the second best keeper in the league?
6.) 31 Oct 2024 02:31:54
Simple SW mate - he won the WC. Penalties took them to the big gong and whatever else, Emi is a good penalty keeper.
My own view is that, attitude aside, he let's in a lot of soft shots. Feels like every other time I watch Villa there is a keeper error and he let's one squirm under his arms.
Love Raya though. Think he's responsible for 6 points already this season, clear upgrade in possession and think he's started to really command the area quite well.
7.) 31 Oct 2024 05:23:40
G62, conversely, if you're not happy with SY's feelings towards Arsenal, then maybe you should just leave him alone to feel how he wants to feel?
Seriously fella, almost every post from you is dictating how someone should feel and it's all a bit ridiculous. "Call it a day with Arsenal"? Do you even step back and read this sh*te before you hit that reply button?
8.) 31 Oct 2024 07:02:00
I am with Ed14 on this, would not want Martinez anywhere near our club.
{Ed001's Note - I don't get the hype on him. I would pick Raya over him myself. Totally agree with 14 too.}
9.) 31 Oct 2024 10:15:08
Fair comment Sharpie.
Please accept my apology Sy. I saw your comment when I got in last night and was shocked by how you went back 3 years in order to find something negative to say about Arteta and this Arsenal team, but I most definitely went to far in my post I do very sincerely apologise to you mate. I personally struggle to understand how anyone can be so unhappy and dissatisfied with this Arsenal set up than they were when we were among the also ran non competitive teams but what I struggle with is my problem to sort out and I will try to be less judgemental and rude in future. Sorry again Sy.
20 Oct 2024 12:02:02
Some thoughts with hindsight.
No Odegaard
No Saka
No Timber
No Saliba
No Tomi
No Zinny
Moreno, Jesus, Sterling, Kiwior all a bit rusty.
One bad game doesn't define us. Let's see how we react against Liverpool!
I love how the fans were singing Saliba's song as he was hauled off ? ?.
1.) 20 Oct 2024 12:39:17
Agree Sal, we just have to put yesterday down as a real bad day at the office. re-group, review and go again…COYG?⚪️❤️.
2.) 20 Oct 2024 20:02:41
But beating teams in the bottom half of league is a gimme. right?
3.) 20 Oct 2024 20:58:52
It's preferable but not a given I don't think SirShanks.
4.) 20 Oct 2024 21:05:49
As we all know there are no gimmes in the premier league, even less so away from home. So games are harder than others but all games and all points have to be earned.
15 Oct 2024 12:43:50
I suppose it was inevitable- Lots of chatter about the European Super League today. It will be very interesting to see who gets on board this time round if it goes ahead.
Question 1 - will English clubs who sign up abandon the PL? If not how the h*ll will they fit in more games?
Question 2 - how will normal fans be able to afford to travel round Europe all the time? I assume the games will attract local fans and tv fans so the clubs won't be bothered.
Question 3 - if Arsenal sign up to this closed league will I still support them? that's really hard for me to answer but at the moment I think I will support Fulham and Brentford instead. They both play very watchable footie so I won't be deprived of my football fix.
1.) 15 Oct 2024 20:45:20
Hi Sally I was genuinely looking at Brighton season tickets, we join super league like you I’m done. 50 plus years and done. Surely not COYG.
2.) 15 Oct 2024 21:42:38
For me Sally, if there was no Arsenal to support I'd probably call it a day with football full stop. I certainly wouldn't be inspired to watch exhibition games that were more suited to showbiz entertainment than a competitive sporting competition. The pursuit of a few dollars more and more and more has taken so much away from the working class football I grew up being totally besotted with so I think this would be the straw that broke the camel's back.
Mind you if they restructed the English leagues in some way it could be possible to make the game exciting and interesting without the big clubs being around any more.
3.) 15 Oct 2024 22:19:26
The standard of football without the big boys could still be good to watch I reckon 62. The thought of a closed league can't bear thinking about.
4.) 16 Oct 2024 09:08:15
With Mikel as manager it’s going to be hard not to get behind the team what ever league we are in.
5.) 16 Oct 2024 22:23:19
I wonder what his thoughts would be if this happened Mal.
6.) 17 Oct 2024 07:47:02
Morning sally and all
I think Mikel would want to compete at the highest level.
7.) 17 Oct 2024 19:35:10
Hi Mark, ultimately it will be Josh and Stan who decide where the grass is greenest. I'm pretty sure Arsenal and all others who get the option will move with the heard.
8.) 20 Oct 2024 13:34:52
Football as we know it will be finished without the big six the standards are poor now will end up like Dutch league l am a Liverpool fan ì don't want my team going in super league and I hope the Arsenals and spurs of the league stay put . It is all down to greed.
10 Oct 2024 22:32:18
Hoping Saka's injury isn't serious.
1.) 13 Oct 2024 19:13:37
He'll be fine, Sally.
2.) 14 Oct 2024 12:42:27
me too sally.
3.) 14 Oct 2024 13:05:54
Hey saga mate we was only wondering where you was at on live chat last week
Hope all is ok with you?
07 Oct 2024 15:10:03
Not Arsenal directly related but could impact all clubs.
Just in from the BBC
"City had some complaints upheld with two aspects of the APT rules deemed unlawful by a tribunal.
But the PL says the tribunal rejected the majority of City's challenges and endorsed the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system"
More to follow.
{Ed002's Note - It does impact Arsenal as director loans will have to be dealt with in the same way as commercial loans - so clubs relying on low or interest free loans are likely to have Profit and Sustainability issues because they will have to apply commercial interest rates.}
1.) 07 Oct 2024 16:14:12
So City to walk free from the 115 charges and all the other clubs get screwed over.
2.) 07 Oct 2024 15:31:19
Thank you Ed002. Seems an ambiguous statement from the BBC, does this mean APT rules are dead?
{Ed002's Note - No, it means that the PL need to figure out the way forward.}
3.) 07 Oct 2024 17:08:48
Thanks ed.
4.) 07 Oct 2024 17:15:32
So I assume any rule changes would need 14 clubs to agree? That could be interesting .
{Ed002's Note - It will be something that needs to be resolved, but can be.}
5.) 07 Oct 2024 19:24:55
It appears Chelsea Everton are Newcastle supported City's case while Arsenal United Liverpool Spurs and 8 others supported the PL, bit of difference in attitudes here. Maybe the easiest answer is for the 4 clubs who are out of sink with the rest should contact like minded European/ world clubs and get the European/ world super league up and running. If all of the big clubs left the PL it would of course be finished but just 2 or 3 big clubs sailed off in a different direction the effect could easily be survived.
Sounds like a decent compromise that gives absolutely everyone what they want and saves all the hostility and bed feeling all round.
{Ed002's Note - You don’t understand. This is getting ridiculous.}
6.) 07 Oct 2024 20:27:04
I appreciate your input ed002 and glad it can probably be resolved.
7.) 08 Oct 2024 09:34:14
Ed002, I can't speak for g62, but your statement is spot on with regards me. I don't understand. A lot of us are here for the banter and to keep up on our respective clubs. Almost all of us understand the game, but I'd wager very few of us understand what happens at board level. I've never seen you go unappreciated whenever you've provided us information. You could make this less ridiculous. Or not ?.
{Ed002's Note - I explained the issue Arsenal face. It impacts other clubs aswell. The PL will be under pressure to sort it out, but one club has a huge issue in respect of P&S and I understand are looking to taking legal advice.}
8.) 08 Oct 2024 10:09:21
Thank you Ed002. So will money put into clubs by owners be considered like commercial loans? So they need to be paid back in however many years? Is it, going forward, or will they retrospectively go back x number of years?
{Ed002's Note - Any money loaned by the directors (so not just the owners) will need to have commercial interest rates applied. They cannot do it retrospectively.}
9.) 07 Oct 2024 19:45:46
Hi Ed002, just to clarify, a director loan can sit on the balance sheet indefinitely and doesn't usually have a cap in most industries. Will this be any different? As far as I'm aware, a director loan doesn't attract interest (as much as I'd like it to for personal reasons haha) .
{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with other industries, it is seen as a way of injecting equity in to the club - so from now on such loans will be subject to commercial interest rates.}
10.) 08 Oct 2024 10:33:37
Thank you again, Ed002. How do you feel about the whole P&S thing, if you don't mind sharing? I don't like it. Football has become an industry, just like any other, and these rules seem to fly in the face of capitalism.
I understand the main reason behind it is to preserve the PL, but this just somehow feels the most incorrect way to go about it. I don't have the answers, but I just can't shake the bad vibe I get from this.
{Ed002's Note - Without any doubt it needs to be refined further. Some sides have been reliant on director loans - Everton are a good example, where they could have gone in to Administration without MOshiri loaning them £450M, but equally clubs need to bring their unsustainable finances under control and work within their mean - and that is what everybody wants.}
11.) 08 Oct 2024 17:07:19
Thanks for explaining it ed, much appreciated.
12.) 09 Oct 2024 21:42:48
I think it will be looked at in terms on what normal shareholder loan interest rates are, not normal commercial loans. If this is the case the interest will be relatively low and won’t be an issue.

If its happened suddenly I reckon it would unsettle Arteta Sharpie.
04 Nov 2024 10:06:16
Didn't see that coming!
02 Nov 2024 22:30:22
I think we have to give credit to Newcastle for the way they played today.
30 Oct 2024 11:07:28
We seem to be the team/ manager to hate on some sites Ed001, not sure its warranted to be fair.
{Ed001's Note - it happens when you are doing well. To be fair though, Arteta does not come across well. It is hard to like him as an opposition fan. Not like Wenger, even when he was unable to see things that you know he did see, it was still difficult not to like him.}
28 Oct 2024 17:49:42
