Am I missing something? Great news regarding Eze but how does that solve the problem regarding Kai’s injury? Depending on severity we need cover as if Viktor gets injured who plays? Unless Martinelli is set to cover playing centrally! At least he won’t have to worry about defending Certainly explains Tross situation. Or as we are bringing in Gooners to the club maybe Watkins as Villa interested in Jackson apparently! If Kai is out for a short time then sure we will use viktor and cover with Martinelli/ Tross/ Merino COYG.

I think you're right that the cover will be trossard/ merino and maybe martenelli if desperate. It makes sense as if we got another cf in then we'd have gyokores and the new cf with havertz and jesus to return. Seems too stacked for one position.

We are a wealthy club we can afford one more great signing. Isak is an issue because we may compete against Liverpool but there could be a spite sale. Rodrygo looks to be our big target…. now him saka and chunky viktor wow.

From what I’ve seen merino isn’t an upgrade on Partey. Any CMs Eds you’d be looking at that’s up for potential grabs or you like the look of merino?
{Ed014's Note - I’d never heard of Merino prior to the Euros and never watched him there either.
Ugarte was supposed to be the dogs but looks like PSG are trying to off load him, have to ask why. Think Utd are looking at him to replace Casimero, but let’s be honest, any elderly lady would be better than that lump.
I liked the look of Wharton at Palace from what little I’d seen of him.
That aside no real idea mate, who do you like the look of?

Wharton would be a great signing but I think Palace would want stupid money for him. I’ve seen Ruiz linked with us which could be a good signing.

Well Ed I think the player I think Arteta could coach to be a worldy that would fit into the quality of squad we have is Mainoo not that we could get him. But he’s the kind of player. I always thought Kimmich could be an interesting one but I’ve seen you mention about his high wage and he looks maybe city bound if he moves?
{Ed014's Note - Mainoo does have a lot about him and I’m sure he’d be better here than where he is but that move would be very very unlikely.
Kimmich would definitely want big money and at 29 doesn’t have much of a shelf life.
I’m sure Arteta has someone in mind so it’s just a bit of wait and see unfortunately.

Ed do you think though with Saudi buying players of all ages, teams will be thinking it’s now a possibility to get your money atleast back if you can get a quality player relatively cheap for the individual market valuation even if they’re on the older side of 20s?
{Ed014's Note - it’s possible mate but I don’t think things are going quite as swimmingly as the Saudis hoped and maybe the crazy money signings will drop off.
The other thing with Kimmich is how he’d affect the wage structure. There also doesn’t seem to be a mass of clubs looking to sign him.

I haven’t watched all the games by any means but this letting the game go when players are barely touched and screaming like they’ve been shot is very refreshing. All teams in the prem do it so hopefully it carries on. I hope the refs are like most fans and think Get Up! Oliver almost seemed over excited when he issued the shake of his head and get up with his arms! Don’t give the foul and players will be told don’t do it hopefully.
I liked him but Xhaka drove me nuts when he used to do it! A positive move I feel COYG.
Also not seen many / any Stretchered off. Must be faking it then.

Kane is one of the worst at it, to be fair.
Should have got up & defended rather than pointing bc at his foot while Norway scored. The penalty dive with both feet together and pointed hands was a joke. The ref motioned five, but didn't show the card. Strange.

So Mikel and Mr. Henry both coming out and backing Viktor on the basis of loyalty and the fact we would have to adjust the attacking unit with a new CF. Would Alvarez score the number of goals Viktor would or would Alvarez outscore Viktor in Viktor's second season? Are we going to be more expansive a la the runners up seasons and would Viktor thrive under that system? Loyalty to a striker who helped deliver the Prem (a massive yes from me) or a player who wants Barcelona and might join us (Hmmm!) with the hump. Also I would keep Benny if he was happy to understudy Timber.
Spend big on pacy left winger - or two of them if Leo and Martinelli both go. I also like Leo and would keep if again happy to understudy new winger. Still buzzing and while I'm here how dare Chelski not report C£ty for tapping up Maresca even though they have the evidence apparently, and allowing an NDA to be signed provided big compensation is paid! We've had our transgressions, Norris (100 years ago) and George but we are in the Sussex County League compared to them two. Let's do it our way and be proud of that COYG Champions.

Spend big on a winger.
Get a player that transitions defence to attack better than we have today.
Buy a proper striker who knows where the goal is, can trap a ball, & gets into the box quicker. Junior Kroupi or someone different. We can't have Vik as number 1, Kane showing him how to score with his nut on a Rice delivery.
Mbappe showing what pace does. Messi showing what skill does. Upgrade and move on.
We also need to figure out how to replace all those own goals & corner goals, as they don't repeat next year.

Agree on the winger. I feel Eze and Odegaard are more than good enough! And yet we scored in 22/23 and 23/24, 88 and 91 goals, and we had Eddie, Jesus and Kai up front! A tweak in tactics perhaps. We are Champions and a penalty shootout from winning a tournament we've never won! As always, willing to be convinced about another striker, but it's also funny that when Henry talks and suits a confirmation bias it is gospel, but when he champions Viktor it is b*****.

To be fair, Henry said keep both - I'd like that with Vik as reserve. If it's a choice - simple.
Remember, we are Gooners, and Vik wears the shirt. You can tell that Henry values him far higher than Vik, but that we would be giving something up & I'd agree. I'd like Thiago & Al, to be fair.
Hoping Vik has a better season, esp against decent teams, & makes a far more nuisance of himself at set pieces and in the box rather than out wide. A change in tactics, and him dropping some more weight, would be good. He also needs to stay on his feet more. He's definitely had some Stella games, for sure.

I'm also a little surprised to see Henry backing Gyokeres, though. Remember when he said we'd never win the league with Giroud? IMO Giroud was twice the player for us that Vik was, and Giroud has a glittering trophy cabinet.

We have the occasion in the 100% bag, Cumbria, mate, and I plan to enjoy it, no matter what the result. Obviously I will enjoy it most if we both play really well and win, and I will certainly enjoy it much more then if we lose.
But, one thing that is for absolute certain is that I will enjoy it much more than I have enjoyed any Champions League final in the last 20 years, and I will definitely enjoy it a lot more than I did last year's semi-final defeat to PSG.

Deckers has character - look at the s*** he takes about his other half! Almost as much as Mrs Sussex takes about me! I like the cut of his jib, as they say. As an aside, Alvarez? Is he all that? Checked, he scored 8 goals in 29 games, but 5 were in 2 games.
Therefore, 3 goals in the other 27 games. He scored, I would wager, against weaker or at best comparable teams in Spain. One in nine? 130 mill, I'm out! Who's next in line COYG.

Guess he’s a replacement for Kiwior and once Kiwior and Zinchenko are sold we have 7 defenders- Hincapie makes 8 and can cover LB and CB. No idea if he’s any good - seen him mentioned across the sites but if he’s an upgrade then ? . Maybe Saka not missing many games hopefully maybe waiting for Jesus to cover come October time. Just hope Victor stays fit - seems risky - one Hincapie=1 Watkins but need two defenders in each position I guess COYG.

As far as I can make out it is irrelevant whether it was a red card foul or not as FIFA are saying it is a red card but he gets a suspended sentence. I'd feel much happier if, like in the Prem, the card can be argued and rescinded through a sensible process.
But this card hasn't been rescinded, it's been agreed it was correctly given but the punishment has been altered. Another peace award, Donny? Infantino is more corrupt than Blatter - let that sink in COYG.

And I've always wanted to step out with Jennifer Aniston, but she unfortunately has been unattainable! Pretty sure Kane, Mbappe and Haaland are too (for us to buy, not for me to step out with) . They are elite and won't join us! Let's be honest / realistic at the very least! Is Alvarez elite? Not for me, and he's told us he wants Barca. Sometimes some things are just unattainable, like the lovely Jen. It is stating the bleeding obvious: we need an elite striker; getting them is nigh on impossible, plus there are only three of them and they can only join three clubs if, in fact, they are for sale! Can't blame us for lack of ambition if we don't buy Kane, Haaland, etc.
Also, didn't PSG win the CL without Kane, Mbappe or Haaland? Maybe concentrate on the attainable, high-scoring left winger! I'm also a sucker for loyalty! I personally am happy to stay loyal to V ?tor and Kai. We did quite well last season with them, and one was new and one was injured! Ridiculous valuation! For a great deal of the season, Villa fans were asking, what does Emery see in Rogers, why is he being played? Come to sell, he’s the second coming! He’s good, but only £80 mill good at a stretch! Anderson so overpriced again, ridiculous.
