{Ed002's Note - Bitello (AM) Joined Dynamo Moscow last summer to replace Arsen Zakharyan who Chelsea and Manchester City were blocked from signing. As he is not a Russian citizen he is free to move on but the issue is making a payment to the Russian side. Would likely need to be signed as an exception as he is not naturally able to obtain a Work Permit just yet. Arsenal were interested before he left Gremio.}

{Ed001's Note - yes, there are almost none that don't come from their academy that they can sign. So almost every transfer fee involving them is incoming and they invest heavily in their youth academy and current playing staff's welfare and happiness. Not just big salaries, but all the ephemera that makes them enjoy playing for the club. But obviously the big salaries is a problem for potential buyers as it is very rare they value a Bilbao player as highly as Bilbao do, unless Athletic have someone else in that position coming through.
If there isn't anyone coming through, they can't exactly go out and buy a replacement. They have been a bit more lenient on Basque-links in recent years, but only to a point. It means the pool of players they can sign is tiny.}

I do have a soft spot for Bilbao na duaed to follow them a few years ago They generally stick to their principles, which these days are rare.

Only my parents could think I must have meant Sociedad because of the Toshack connection. I mean their shirt is blue and white ffs. No one wants a blue and white footie shirt do they? And Bilbao usually play good footie too, they have the best youth academy, probably in the world. There is a lot to like about them.}

For years they were my go to FIFA team on the PS aswell.
I had hoped that they would have qualified for the CL. but a 5th place finish was pretty good.
I was really happy when Utd signed Herrera and was gutted when they let him go for free, whilst priorising Muppets like PP and JL.

Hi Ed025 I agree never been convinced - one season 22/ 23 everyone bangs on about with 20 goals but 6 pens included! Saka does that from the wing. Forget the pity penalty v Bournemouth Kai didn`t score in twelve games - then scored 12 goals in 25 games (think no pens) so on that form he gets 19 goals without pens - which is pretty good. He also assists. Haaland scored 27 goals but 7 were pens. Kai is nowhere the scorer Haaland is (Haaland played less games) but he is important to the way we play. Unless it`s top drawer and prem ready spend the money on the best midfielder possible to complement Rice and Ode. Isak is the only option for me or Alvarez but City won`t sell. Anyway what do I know but I know a man who does - come on MA get Isak COYG.
{Ed025's Note - i think Isak would be perfect SUSSEX, it looks very unlikely to happen though but you still need a top draw striker for me mate, Kai will do a job but if he gets injured you are up the creek without a paddle i feel..

I agree ed025, I don't believe we want his character in our squad. There aren't many top strikers around these days though, so while I agree of the necessity of one I have no real suggestions.
{Ed025's Note - its a tough one SW, Isak seems the perfect fit but i just cant see it im afraid, you may have to take a bit of a chance on somebody who is not quite the finished article but you do need a striker mate, i like the look of Vlahovic myself but getting him would be very difficult..

Hey Ed, what’s your thoughts on Bruno Guimarães? The links gone quiet of late but a player that gets stuck in whilst still being good on the ball could be what's needed in the middle. Would be an expensive buy. Havertz I imagine will be first choice no1 with a new 9 signing for healthy competition. Watkins perhaps? Could Arteta improve him and he’s a huge Arsenal fan who’s stated be a dream to sign for us.
{Ed025's Note - i do like Guimaraes coldice i must say, has that nasty streak which i like but i feel a striker should still be the priority mate, i like Watkins but feel he has reached his celing and Villa is his limit..

110% agree with SY! Raya to gabs gabs to saliba saliba to partey partey to ode ode to saka, saka slows it down passes to ode he passes to partey he passes to saliba he passes to gabs he passes to timber timber to martinilli he cuts in passes to rice he passes to gabs etc etc it’s waaaay to slow Fulham scored with 3 touch’s, it’s boring and easy to defend against unless there’s a perfect ball through! Without our full strength defence we are asking for trouble just pushing up and not leaving cover at the back we tried that yesterday and they scored at first opportunity. Will be interesting to see if Ateta can address the problems highlighted in the first half of the season in january but i'm not holding my breath as know January is not easy to strenthen squad and we don't have edu. Top 4 finish is what I am looking for now and a cup win and then address our issues in summer. Forget the league cncentrate on each indvidual game like pep keeps saying even chelsea don't talk about winning the league to take the pressure of the team.

I agree 100% we need a really good striker. Trouble is there aren't many available and those that do become available will be able to pick and choose their next club. Let's hope Arsenal can convince someone to join us, preferably sooner rather than later!
Meanwhile I'd give Martinelli a try through the middle. Kai is not the striker we need but I'm happy with him generally so wouldn't give up on him.
I'd love Jesus to get a couple of goals, he is so rusty with limited game time but I'm sure he hasn't become a bad player overnight.
The only player I am concerned about is Trossard. Not sure why. I don't think he is happy as a backup player so perhaps he should be let go.
Regarding the game yesterday, very disappointing of course. I watched the Spurs v Chelsea game after and the difference was startling. It was an open game so it was free flowing football. Totally opposite. We needed to find a way to cut through the very effective Fulham defence but we couldn't. That definitely needs to be addressed.
I didn't agree with Partey playing right back, it didn't work when he was there previously and he was missed in midfield yesterday.
Anyway let's see what happens next. We are a good team, perhaps not quite the best, but nevertheless up there amongst them :)

Toney - not the sort of player to run himself into the ground in games for the team. Only ever wanted the money, he's getting it now.
Isak - cracking player on his day, but you would have to be worried about his injury record? Great when he's available but not consistently available is he?
I agree overall though, jeez an Arsenal with the likes of an Henry on the left and an Ian Wright type in the centre would be unreal lads - you have a cracking defence, a solid keeper and a decent midfield too

We are Are all positive at times but some people can’t take criticism of the team when we play poorly they accuse people of only coming on when we lose lol when it’s always the same people that post win lose or draw! They only see what they want too see sally and then they love a moan at people! There has been some signings over the years that have propelled a club to the top, vvd for Liverpool Alison for Liverpool the mancity goal keeper also, I truly believe that viktir gyokeres is the one player that will bring us the title or CL I think he is that good we should be going all out to sign him in January and not wait for teams to swop in the summer.

Seems like a good player who would no doubt improve the squad. But by how much? The fact he plays in the Portuguese league makes me wonder how well he would be able to replicate his current form for us in the premier league.
Personally i really admire Lautaro Martinez. I'm eager/ terrified to see how he does against us tonight. Would he be attainable?

{Ed002's Note - Viktor Gyokeres (S) After only joining in 2023 Sporting have no interest in selling but fear a club could simply pay his €100M buy out clause in full and try to persuade him to move. Sporting fear Chelasea may do that and have previously avoided the subject during discussions over another player and a separate issue - and whilst Chelsea has a preferred option he is proving difficult to sign. There is also a fear that Mr Emanalo may look to take him to Saudi. With Viana moving to Manchester City, it is possible they could opt for him as the fear losing Haaland. He has attracted scouts representing Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal but Sporting will be reluctant to deal with Manchester United, although they may offer the full buy out clause. A wildcard would be PSG, but again, not first choice or Juventus if they sell Dusan Vlahovic. Sporting are looking to a new contract and an increase in his buy-out clause.}
