Seeing rumours linking us with Ashworth. Not sure I'd like him at Arsenal.
1.) 13 Dec 2024 01:08:39
I'm sure I read he wanted Southgate at United, i hope we steer clear.

Hi Ed002
Andreas Skov Olsen - is he any good and do Arsenal have an interest?
{Ed002's Note - Andreas Skov Olsen (RW) Has had a very good time at Brugge since moving from Bologna. Long term interest of Spurs remains but they see the 30M asking price as high. Brentford consider him an option to replace Bryan Mbuemo. I am not aware of any approach by Arsenal.}
1.) 26 Aug 2024 10:47:11
Thanks Ed002.
Any changes in the in and out landscape for you? Do you know if Arsenal are done with ins for this window or if they're maybe trying to make something happen because of Jesus' injury?
{Ed002's Note - I don't think they have finished just yet.}
21 Feb 2024 15:01:46
Ed002, are Arsenal interested in Ederson da Silva, at Atalanta?
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Arsenal interest and they have other targets.}
13 Nov 2023 17:38:58
Rumour doing the round that Arsenal could offer ESR in a swap deal for Douglas Luiz.
ESR not really getting games with us.
1.) 13 Nov 2023 20:14:27
Shame if true. ESR is a better player than Havertz, and could do a good job in there if given the chance.
2.) 16 Nov 2023 14:01:09
I am a big ESR fan, but I am starting to wonder if he is going to another Jack Wilshire (also a player that I loved in an Arsenal shirt)
he seems to have never really had a sustained season without an injury and when you consider that he was ahead in his time scale of first team than Saka was and how far apart their careers look now I am for the first time starting to wonder if we would be better off moving on From ESR.
Which I really dislike saying out loud.
12 Oct 2023 15:23:32
Ed02, if you have the time, I have a question about club ownership. So, a person can't own more than one football club in the same league. How does that work for teams that are legible for the same competitions, like Europa League, Champions league, etc?
{Ed002's Note - The rukes are related to majority ownership, so owning a small percentage is not an issue. For situations whener owners like the City Group own several sides, those with the lowest co-efficients will be excluded. For clubs like RBL and RBS the ownership structure was changed to accommodate them.}
1.) 14 Oct 2023 01:55:33
Thanks ed, so for example if Girona and city qualify for the CL, would Girona be excluded and if they are, would they drop to the Europa League or be totally excluded?
{Ed002's Note - The City Football Group do not have majority ownership of Girona.}

Really enjoyed the game yesterday, A few moments (especially at the end) where I was biting my nails, but overall was nice to see the effort by some of the lads.
Should have really scored more; we had chances, but a win is a win.
Skelly looks a great player. Timber was very good. Ode was good, but he isn't looking back to his best. Rice put in one heck of a shift.
Kai, hmmm, I'm not sure what to say. He certainly looks a busy player, but that's about it.
Well done the team!
1.) 16 Jan 2025 12:20:31
Agree with all that post Sharpie
Just wondering if Skelly could perhaps fill the void of Saka?
After all Skelly has always predominantly been a midfielder and looks so calm and assured and even playing left back, his first thought is to burst forward.
2.) 16 Jan 2025 12:46:44
I agree Sharpe.
And I feel that's exactly what has been missing for a few months, that intensity in the play ( I know it wasn't the whole 90 min) but it just creates such panic for teams and I feel that's what we did so well the last 2 seasons, we approached games from the first min like every game was a NLD.
I feel for Ode a little bit, he isn't up to the standards of last season and the injury might be a part of that, but I also feel the confidence and movement from the payers around him is also not there (obv his relationship with Saka is also a miss)
I know I am prob in the minority with Kai, but I really like him in a arsenal shirt, i think he is a real asset to the squad, but i don't think he has the mentality (or poss the ability) to be the main striker/ goal threat in a team, I hope we keep him but invest in that top class striker that we all agree and know that this team needs.
3.) 16 Jan 2025 13:32:10
Ode misses Saka and Saka misses Ode, together they are unplayable IMO.
4.) 16 Jan 2025 14:34:29
Didn't manage to see the game due to timezones but saw a few snippets. The attacking play finally looked a bit more fluid to me, lots of bursting runs and men trying to get into the box. The finishing is utter pants apart from Trossard, though, so I would be shocked if we don't dip into the market. As HG says above I like Kai, but he can't be the only option now that Jesus is out.
08 Jan 2025 11:23:07
Mal and 14, as much as I like both of you, I can't agree with either of you. These pages, including those of other teams, have always been about the good and the bad. The usual suspects that both of you feel aggrieved by always seem to give kudos when we win, and rightfully slate us when we lose like we did last night.
I'm not sure what your expectations are, but having spent 800+ mil to assemble a squad, I would expect better.
Last night was painful to watch. We were toothless, devoid of ideas, or any real threat. You could excuse the loss if the team had played well, but even the usual beautiful football wasn't in evidence.
The complaints you're hearing don't happen in a vacuum. Come into chat, don't come into chat - entirely your prerogative. However, acting like this expensively assembled squad are title contenders (based on several performances this season) is laughable.
I can still remember the complaints of "Wenger embracing mediocrity" from a few years ago. This looks like the same thing to me, except with much more expensive players.
Complaining about the complainers while neither of you can, or will, offer any optimism to balance it out is fairly telling, don't you think? Or do both of you agree that we don't need a striker, or a plan B when things aren't going our way?
{Ed014's Note - I genuinely don’t consider that having watched the football of the last two seasons that this team is some lily livered pile of garbage.
As a whole, they seem massively out of form. Yes every man and his dog knows what we need and anyone with any sense will know we won’t get it in January.
Do I agree with all our signings, no, do I think Arteta has made mistakes, yes. Playing Jesus against Villa last season, the worst!
Playing a weakened team against Brighton last week, another mistake.
Do I believe as a club we are now also rans, no.
Do I chose not to listen to a load of moaning, no, I chose not to, you and others are fine with it. Simply my choice. Does that mean I don’t see what’s happening, no not at all.
We’ve come a long way since the days of clowns like Aubamayang and others.
Is the first hurdle a moment of desperation, not for me no!
Can this team win things, on the last two seasons form, of course, in my opinion, they can.
What I absolutely won’t do, is embrace mediocrity!
One last thing, is Arteta the man, no idea, but he needs to sort this or he may not have a chance to prove it.
1.) 08 Jan 2025 12:15:28
And don't get me started on fans walking out last night. What does that achieve?
The players we have (like them or not) need the fans'support when things are tough as well as when things are going brilliantly.
I can see this escalating if we don't get the results they want. And then what? We will likely lose Saliba to Real Madrid. Which player wants to play in a hostile environment .
So, who would posters like to see in the hot seat in the event Arteta doesn't get the fans support?
{Ed014's Note - exactly Sally, negativity is a killer!
2.) 08 Jan 2025 12:22:53
I don't think anyone has suggested that the entire team is garbage. What's being suggested is that a few positions have needed addressing for the last couple of seasons. I don't think anyone believes that we'll properly address this in the current window. They may be hopeful, but deep down they know it won't happen; which is where a lot of the frustration stems from.
You're likely in the minority if you think we're not already "also rans". Based on the last few seasons, all we've proved is that we can run, just not finish the race.
You say you don't embrace mediocrity, but that's where this road leads if things don't change. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. Our best players are an offer away from moving to bigger and better. It won't be easy convincing them, when like you said, every man and his dog knows what we need - yet here we are.
What would you rather people did when they don't agree with signings (or lack of) ? What would you have rather they said when Arteta played Jesus against Villa? Or when he played a weakened side against Brighton? Fans have had the mood hoovered out of them for a few years now. But let's have them not mention it because a few people still believe in fairy tales and miracles?
As a fan, how do YOU feel about the club spending 800+ million and not having anything to show for it? How do you feel about clubs that spent less (Newcastle) doing a right number on us on our own patch?
We've been a really good side to watch, and I was hopeful after the last 2 seasons. We don't seem to be that same team any more.
{Ed014's Note - I totally get things need to change, it’s beyond obvious to us all.
Sally has talked of fans walking out, what next, booing the team off the pitch, chants of Arteta OUT.
I don’t want to see that sort of bollox, equally I don’t believe we’re heading for mediocrity, this team has shown they have the quality.
We are massively out of form, not just devoid of a striker.
Where would Liverpool be without Salah? We’ve lost Odegaard and now Saka, but we’re still up there.
If Arteta isn’t the man I don’t want it to end in turmoil, make a decision and get someone to take us to the next level.
I don’t like seeing us getting mugged off by Eddie Howe either but I accept we can’t be on it this season, due to factors outside of a striker and left winger.
Having 3 left backs out didn’t help last week, the early season sendings off didn’t help.
Do I want to bleat about that like the end of the world is nigh, which some seem like there all over, do I f**k.
3.) 08 Jan 2025 12:22:54
Hello Mal/ Sy and Ed 14 hope you are all good.
Great arguments from both sides which is what this sight is all about.
For me Ed 14 has hit the nail on the head. We are a team massively out of form. The striker we need isn't going to come this month by the looks of things. Sakas injury was a massive blow. Last night we could have played to midnight and not have scored. We were completely devoid of any other ideas other than passing the ball to death and get crosses to non existence striker.
I don't like to moan but we are seeing a great generation of players and we need to getting trophy or likes of Saka/ Saliba and some others will start to look elsewhere with no shortage of takers.
Arteta saying about the ball last night was plainly ridiculous.
We need to get back to the high tempo high press of a couple of seasons back.
Take care everyone.
{Ed014's Note - totally agree Bill.
4.) 08 Jan 2025 12:59:03
Negativity is a killer. When it comes to fans walking out (I turned the telly off at the 75 minute mark) , and indeed with total negative tactics on the field.
It works both ways.
5.) 08 Jan 2025 14:09:20
You have to remember Arteta is also a young manager infact we are his first management role. He is learning on the job. I honestly don't think the final decision on who we sign sits with the manager i think they would select the positions they believe need strengthening and the backroom staff (edu n co) then source the player they believe will fullfill that role.
What Arteta has achieved so far is incredible and we should all be very greatful for this. Our first 11 are the real deal and when played in their primary role untouchable no need for striker and I would think it would be luxury to have, but if the starting 11 is not availble then a striker is a must
However the bench does need looking at and tweeked its not an overnight thing and this does take time. They need to find a replacement for Edu someone that's better than Edu at getting deals done and finding the right players.
Its not the end the club has been her long before me and long before I leave. We may not be moving as quick as some may like (including myself at times) but we are going in the right direction. This season should be considered as a blip. Hopefully we can move forward and grow stronger.
Important thing is to get behind the team and if you are fortunate enough to be at the games don't leave the stadium early stay and keep pushing the team.
{Ed014's Note - nice post g4 and I agree.
6.) 08 Jan 2025 18:57:06
People are allowed their opinions and can leave games early (we all know the Emirates is a pain to get out of so I don’t blame them after watching that yesterday) , or state what they believe on this forum or in the chat. Surely that’s the whole point of this website.
Personally I understand the team are struggling but I just can’t get behind Arteta as a person and find him completely arrogant.
7.) 08 Jan 2025 21:50:55
Hi Sally, happy Wednesday. I don’t have a solution for Arteta as I don’t watch enough football Ross Europe. I have a family and a very busy stressful job, first thing is to have honest assessment of Arteta over current season. Then consider how much is on him and does he have the engine under the hood to deliver. Then if he needs time or another season.
Liverpool prove you can change for better as have plenty clubs.
I’ve not been a fan from day 1 but pleasantly pleased with progress but ultimately blame him for bottling the league twice and 4th place. I don’t think his desire to win is bigger than the love for our club which is where Wenger was in the last few years. Eventually the good players left and rightly so as they have short careers and want money and medals. If he can not create the winning mentality that you see on shows about top teams performing at the highest level then he has to go. Then the hunt is on. There are managers out there without a doubt.
Hope you have a great evening.
8.) 08 Jan 2025 23:03:45
It’s our negative play that’s the killer - you can ex ape negative posts but we all watch our negative play .
We won’t lose Saliba due to hostile environment - but we will lose him because he wants to play with players of a similar quality, a team with ambition and that wins. It won’t just be Saliba. Why would Saliba and Saka put up with playing win a team that doesn’t match their ambition, keeps improving and wins plus pays them well.
I’m not sure it’s a hostile environment
Question~
Henry, Cesc, RVP, Sanchez all left when we were winning or when we were on the decline? Were we matching their ambition and investing wisely?
Choice between Saka and Saliba or Arteta - which option would you opt for.
9.) 08 Jan 2025 21:42:02
Ed14, I know you are directing a few comments at me as you normally give me rubbish on here for my opinions. Opinions based on following the club for years, seeing us make errors with Wenger, seeing us not address issues, seeing us play some of the best and worst football. Surely the site is for banter and opinion rather than just kiss Arteta’s arse for everything he's has done. Done with great youth he inherited, some great players, some crap that he wrote off a fortune on ( anyone can get rid that way ) plus a huge pile of cash not given to the last two managers.
“ I genuinely don’t consider that having watched the football of the last two seasons that this team is some lily livered pile of garbage. ” Not sure anyone has said that.
I will say they bottled it and don’t have a winning mentality and starting 11 can’t play every game plus isn’t strong enough to WIN the league. They haven’t won it and City had players missing as did Liverpool when we blew it to come second.
Signing Kai and giving hi. 280k pw was ridiculous and didn’t solve any problems we had. Why didn’t we sign Isak before Newcastle did? You have people saying he was a great signing yet I bet if you asked them a month before we signed him ; “ should we sign hi? ” Then the answer would be no. No one was asking for him yet suddenly he’s a great signing.
“Do I want to bleat about that like the end of the world is nigh, which some seem like there all over, do I f**k. ” - do I want to post crap about being proud when we are playing crap. Part of it is injuries and part self inflicted. He’s a negative defensive coach who gets out played by managers. Yes he’s young but he’s managing Arsenal. That’s a big job with big expectations. He’s had time and money and this is a banter site…. what do you want us to post mate?
It was the same when Wenger was on decline. The funny thing is - Wenger earned the time by winning rubbish and strengthening the side, maki g tough decisions and playing some of the best football while transforming the football landscape. Arteta has not. He loves the club, improved us but he’s not taken us further.
If he had the team playing the ball forward, getting players to actually passing infront of players rather than behind players which encourages slow attacks, select a proper leader as a captain and use width of pitch so performances were better regardless of results changing then I would care. I’d be happy. Not in more positions by playing more people out of position would be a start. Bit of honesty wouldn’t go amiss or being humble stating we aren’t playing well enough would go some distance.
Long enough post and you will either ignore or reply with spite I guess. Hope you had a great NY and 25 brings you happiness.
{Ed014's Note - you are the Yang to my Ying SY, you look at everything in a negative light, if you reluctantly give praise you add a negative to it.
Our first 11 is 100% good enough to win the title, a quality striker would for me make it a cert.
We all know that, repeatedly repeating that is tiresome.
Much like constantly saying we haven’t replaced Xhaka, who do you think Rice is replacing?
You believe the team are gutless chokers, I don’t, the team has missed out against a bunch of blatant cheats.
We were better than them last season but for an Arteta master class in stupidity against Villa.
Outside of what I consider to be our starting 11 we have White, Kiwior, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Merino, Jesus and Trossard, Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri. I don’t count Sterling, a complete waste of space.
From our starting 11 I’d like a striker (obviously) a left winger and a new DM.
That would drop Martinelli and Havertz to the bench. Partey would likely leave. I’d like to see replacements for Jorginho, Zinchenko and Jesus.
I’d also let Havertz go if we could recoup enough money for him, but it’s not a necessity.
I don’t look at us and accept mediocrity, I do accept we’ve had an indifferent start to the season, crazy sending offs and to many players out of form.
I accept we’ve lost Odegaard and now Saka.
How are City fairing without Rodri and no ready made replacement for De Bruyne, where would Liverpool be without Salah.
We are building, yes we’ve bought some duffers, who hasn’t, Liverpool would swap Nunez in a heart beat. United would swap everyone!
For me we are in such a good place and I’m just not going to get bent out of shape because things are yet to go 100% to plan.
I could go on about plan B as you like to reference, what would be your plan B with our squad, long ball, bang in into the box?
How do you counter the low block? Is it that easy?
HNY to you SY and equally I hope ‘25 brings you a nice surprise.
10.) 09 Jan 2025 22:05:38
Evening Ed, thank you for the reply and insight.
I take on board what you are saying, probably a little repetitive and negative. However, I am tired of the bull blind positivity and putting up with a manager with limited tactics up his sleeve, huge budget, inherited some gems, was praised for getting rid of deadwood at a ridiculous cost yet surely could have managed the big names better and has us playing boring football regardless of injuries. The club is now giving him more power, which is ridiculous. The clowns wasted 65m on a Chelsea reject and gave him a wage of 280k per week then didn’t know where to play him. Signed White for a ridiculous 50m to be CB but he’s not great there so we now have CB as right back. Signs City rejects and puts them on huge wages. Wasn’t that the problem we were trying to resolve. ( note I said I repeat myself ) …We completely bottled it and if the team was good enough to win ( 11 players aren’t going to last all season) the league especially when you add the extra games for WC / Euros plus cup runs. It’s plane stupid. Rice was the best CDM and isn’t the Granit replacement. We never improved that midfield when Granit left - the energy, commitment and drive. The fool played Partey at RB and had a FB on the bench.
Plan B =
Get the ball forward faster.
Switch wingers around
4 4 2 with a striker and Kai
Stop inverted fullbacks and wingers cutting in to widen the pitch and create room
How about passing in front of players so we don’t receive the ball back to goal
How about Jesus LW where he’s done well
How about 3 at back when chasing a game
How about getting a leader in there like Paddy / Adams / Keown etc
I’ve not always been negative either but sometimes the opposite argument needs to be mentioned. I certainly read about effort, trying, commitment and mental health. I loved the draw this year against City - loved it and sure I was positive.
How about - how are we going to win something
Is our run in easier than Liverpool.
Who cares about Liverpool or City reliance. If it’s not one of them it’s the other. We need to beat both in the league or whoever it is eg Leicester. If we make excuses we don’t improve.
If we don’t start winning your favourite players will leave.
So you see the weaknesses in the squad - I was frustrated we signed Jorginho yet plenty were happy. So when we bring him on to change the game. Of course I’m annoyed again as we should never have signed him.
When he plays so many players out of position - his stubbornness annoys me. Why shouldn’t it.
I’m annoyed as we were destined to win the year we bottled the Jan window and didn’t strengthen. No Liverpool, No Chelsea, No Utd and City fell off. We got away with playing the same 11 most games - dream s entail. All we needed to do was be brave…. Then still didn’t seasons after. Those opportunities don’t pop up too often. Yet we are so pleased with progress that we ignore the missed glorious opportunities that I believe sport is about and the club has lost. If you follow my logic - we don’t get hostile fans as we win or at least look like we are serious as we learn and act like a big club. Instead - we repeat the error the season after and bottle it… Now it’s harder yet we don’t strengthen in the blatant positions required.
Our style of play is boring - lopsided, predictable and pedestrian. Plus reliant on Saka and Corners but not from our 7ft striker . Get crap for that yet what was Henry and Wright saying?
I don’t sugar coat things, the world isn’t ending but I like to enjoy my football and enjoy winning. I am blunt and repetitive because the club repeating errors is annoying. I get it that my posts are annoying but I can’t keep reading about excuses excuses excuses. Look at the investment and power Arteta has.
Of Arteta’s signings - how many would get into the Liverpool team.
Does his strikers need to press and defend before scoring?
Yes we’ve had injuries
Yes I’m boring
Yes I’m repetitive
Yes I will take your points on board
But answer this
Is Arteta tactically smart
Do we have a winning mentality
After 700m plus a huge wage bill and some good youth etc have we a really strong squad
Do we really have a leader
Do we really have a game changer when the team isn’t performing
Do you think we will win silverware this year or next
Do you think we blew our best chance a few seasons back when we were miles ahead at Xmas. Would a top class striker in the window made any difference
Could 65m plus 280k pw not be invested bette4 of the 80m plus wages on the city rejects.
If we had invested better - would we have funds and wage space to strengthen now
Are we slow, predictable and sideways passing
Should we question if he’s the guy
I’m moving on - I think we are not there and quite a bit off. Concerned we will start losing top quality players if we don’t address situation. Losing Saliba, Saka, Ode, Gabs or Rice over Arteta….
Thanks and I know I just proved you right.
I’m obsessed about winning and annoyed the club isn’t - I admire M Johnson, Bolt, Ronaldo, Adams, Paddy, Tom Brady, DB10- real winners. Who from our squad fits into that category and why? I’m not talking about them being good but leaders with expectations and drive.
I’m a lot to take - I know.
Honey you are smiling and having a laugh at my post with I told you so look…. try being me ?.
{Ed014's Note - SY it’s 10.30pm, I’ve just logged on to find your response, I’m up at 5.30am. I’d love to answer all your questions but it’s a little late.
I am smiling and you are persistent.
You are right on a lot of things I agree with, a lot I don’t.
You do surely know our best 11 can and have played some fabulous football. We need to get back to that.
Arteta got rid of dross like Aubamayang because of his stinking attitude, I for one was grateful, we didn’t need that. The club as in Josh Kroenke sanctioned the disposal of all those players.
As for Liverpool, I’d take Alison and Salah as a short term fix, the rest not for me, I’d want better and the rest are not.
As for White I think he’s proved himself a more than capable RB and a definite plus for the squad.
Now I find myself dragged into a long response I don’t have time for but we’ll speak again. ?
11.) 09 Jan 2025 23:09:03
lol - Whites doing good. but not a speedy natural FB. Would rather have a proper right back purchase but he’s converted fine. He’s not a natural there and gets exposed due to that but he’s good. Expensive, but reasonable signing Yes But not in the CB role he was purchased and played at initially.
I ‘m passionate Ed and want the players to react. The turned it on 3 times against the other match when Trossard set up play with fast forward play, going on outside and tore them apart. Then went back to passing back to the CB and Keeper.
Against Newcastle if you hid the score and turned the tv on when Arteta was making the subs and watched. You’d think we were seeing out an easy win not chasing the game…
Answer them another day or at least have an insight into why I’m so annoyed. - love to hear your opinion.
I liked Auba and don’t think Arteta managed him well and he wanted him on wing / defending / pressing. He’s a beast in front of goal. Wasted talent in the end and we never got another poacher like him. Contract should have been 250k pw and 30k goal bonus.
Yes - I throw a few low jabs in my response that can blur my case as not the best points.
Yes I will try - my posts are out of frustration rather than negativity
Hope you get some good sleep and thanks for the reply - it’s a banter site and sometimes a frustration release site. ?.
{Ed014's Note - I get frustrated too SY and not everything in the garden is rosey but I feel we’re on the right track with a great base to work from as a squad in general.
We can merry go round the striker for ever, everyone’s single point of frustration, even non Arsenal fans.
Let’s hope with Edu gone, who Ed02 was never a fan of, we up our game in the transfer market too.
I loved Auba to start with but he just became toxic and a bad example that I’m so glad we got rid of. Not so much a fan of not having replaced him yet.
12.) 10 Jan 2025 14:20:56
Thanks for reply / very true. When he was on fire….
Not Edu’s biggest fan but he left due to Arteta’s increasing power at the club. That’s not great either.
Enjoy you weekend ?
Think I posted something positive today ?.

Alberto Moleiro = never heard of him but plays for Las Palmas as a left winger and can even fill the #10 role. Apparently a done deal for 50 million quid.
Anyone seen this lad play? Is he an upgrade on what we have?
1.) 21 Dec 2024 11:59:18
I watched him against Barcelona he was very good, but he’s small don’t know if he would suit the prem but very fast feet and can take on players if it is a done deal hope it’s January and not the summer like being touted around, hopefully he adapts if it’s all true.
2.) 21 Dec 2024 19:36:08
Sounds a bit like Santi Cazorla.

My wife just completed a 9 month body building program.
It's a girl and weighs 7lbs 12 oz.
5.) 12 Dec 2024 20:23:38
I took my 8-year old girl to the office with me on, "Take Your Kid to Work Day. " As we were walking around the office, she starting crying and getting very cranky, so I asked what was wrong with her.
As my coworkers gathered round to help, she sobbed loudly, "where are all the clowns you keep saying you work with?! "
6.) 13 Dec 2024 10:31:45

Mate, would you believe I was minding my own business, met a girl (she was on holiday visiting a friend in Bahrain) , and that was it. Great when I was younger, but the cold weather doesn't fascinate me like it use to.
So to answer your question about what I did wrong - so so so many things ?.
{Ed001's Note - it all ended with 'met a girl'. That is life and soul destroying.}

Ah, good ol' Dubai. Love that place and quite a few good memories of it when I worked there.
I'm in Scotland mate, and have had to holiday local for the past 5 years, and possibly for the next 5 or 6. My dog (5 years old) is a bit of an ahole with other dogs (very reactive) . Been done the road of behaviourists, etc. and he's slightly better, but can't risk having him in kennels. So, yeah, we do rural cottages up north these days so he can come with me too. I couldn't believe how much more expensive it is to "holiday" here than it is to fly out some place hot. Ridiculous.
I do envy you in Dubai though. When I first moved to Scotland, I loved the cold and the crispness. These days, not so much ?
Hope you settle back in well mate, and good to know you're ok.
{Ed001's Note - I don't miss British weather. Only thing I really miss is Anfield and the family.
How did you end up in Scotland? What on earth have you done so wrong to end up there???}
21 Nov 2024 06:13:32
Little known fact about me - I LOVE dogs and horses. And sentient is absolutely right. People forget about that part, unfortunately.
Ed001, you mentioned being in the middle of a move in a previous message. Where you moving to?
{Ed001's Note - even trees and plants have feelings, we now know that they feel pain and cry for help.
Back to Dubai. I went back for a few days to find a place, found the perfect place and took it on the spot, but it has meant coping with just the clothes I had packed for 4 days! It is right by a football stadium and overlooks the training pitches, I saw that out the window as I walked in and said, "I'll take it!" It is not in one of the more desirable areas of Dubai, as it is out near Sharjah, but that meant I was able to get a better apartment for less money than I was expecting. Hellish trying to get everything organised though and now got to get my stuff shipped over.
How are things with you mate? Where are you at these days?}
26 Aug 2024 10:47:11
Thanks Ed002.
Any changes in the in and out landscape for you? Do you know if Arsenal are done with ins for this window or if they're maybe trying to make something happen because of Jesus' injury?
{Ed002's Note - I don't think they have finished just yet.}

I thought Kiwior showed well whenever he played. Would be a shame to lose him.
17 Jan 2025 13:41:33
I've always liked this kid. More so because he's from bonnie Scotland. He works hard when he's called upon and I wish Arteta could have had a little more faith in him when he's been available. May have fallen totally out of the pecking order with the emergence of Skelly.
15 Jan 2025 13:58:42
Kai would surprise me if he played in his best position. Behind the physio and the kitman.

Ed001, it's madness isn't it? We're literally making up excuses now for people who are earning millions a year, instead of holding them accountable and demanding a little more. At the end of the day, these are "professional" athletes. If they're not out there honing their skills so that wind, mud, and opposition become less impactful barriers, then what's the point?
{Ed001's Note - I really don't get it mate. They expect our sympathy when things aren't going well but aren't prepared to put in a little bit more work for it. They are being paid more than enough for what they are contracted to do, surely it is not too much to ask them to maybe do a bit extra off their own back to make themselves better? A bit like those people in every job who do courses in their off time to get promotions. There are those who just do enough and get nowhere, then there are those who go that little bit further in everything they do and succeed. Which does Havertz want to be?}
15 Jan 2025 10:25:29
Ben, they're not trying to land F-35's mate. They're goal is to stick a ball in a very large net. I get that all those things come into play, but not really at the scale at which you're suggesting.
"Natural finisher", or even "he's a goal scorer" are about because there are people who train their whole lives to get the ball in the net. Kai is not one of these people. He's not a striker.
{Ed001's Note - exactly Sharpie - Robbie Fowler gets called the most natural finisher Liverpool have ever had and he hates that. He finds that offensive because he worked incredibly hard on his finishing, not just doing the normal training, but staying behind to practice after the rest of the players had gone in for a shower etc. Surely Havertz could put in an hour or so a day? Not like he isn't being paid enough to think it worthwhile making that little extra bit of effort is it? Does he not have personal pride in his work?}

I tossed in Calafiori's name for exactly the reason you're stating. He's not what we needed. And when we have needed him, well . he's been injured. He may have had everything, but he's not really been tested in this league.
We were close on two occasions, and we just needed that little something up front that, maybe, could have seen us over the line. Instead we get reinforcements in areas of the pitch where we didn't really need them.
I'm not knocking Trossard. Somewhere in there is a very decent footballer - he's shown us that. Something is off with him this season. Something is off with a few of our players in terms of form.
Not sure anyone is asking for superstars. What people are generally saying is:
1. Go back to that swahsbuckling football of last season
2. Stop playing players out of position
3. Buy a fecking striker already
Also, as an aside, if anyone genuinely cares to help me, I'd like to understand what superstar, in the context of football, means. I mean obviously Messi and Ronaldo. Is Mbappe a superstar? So basically any player that top teams would covet? Is that it?
