Talk going around that Nwaneri isn't signing a new contract. That will be a huge disappointment because the kid showed a lot of promise.

RSharpe

1.) 24 May 2025 14:43:20
That will be a very bad situation, us mates were discussing if we get another winger and Martinelli and Trossard stay, then it will greatly limit Nwaneri’s game time so should he be sent on loan? He should be developed as Odegard’s successor and rotate with him if he doesn’t go on loan.

{Ed014's Note - Max Dowman is waiting in the wings.

2.) 25 May 2025 07:21:09
14, you reckon Dowman is a better prospect than Nwaneri? I've never seen him play so don't know much about him.

{Ed014's Note - to be honest he looks like he is but at only 15 it’s difficult to know and I’m not a fan of putting undue pressure on youngsters.

It’s not that I don’t think Nwaneri will be class, he really needs a good run and I wouldn’t want to lose him for sure.

3.) 25 May 2025 22:51:25
I'm surprised to hear we're extending Trossards contract, two back up LWs? .
Nwanieri has bags of potential and he'll know he's good enough to play but rightly doesn't fancy his chances of taking Ode or Saka's positions. You'd very much hope we'd send on loan or at the very least include a buy back, but this PSR nonsense has really been financially motivating teams to sell off all their academy talent.
I hope he stays.

4.) 26 May 2025 02:51:36
Are there genuine rumours or is it all coming from Ben White saying that it's unfortunate Nwaneri has Saka and Odegaard ahead of him? He's still a kid and he'll get a lot of games. Saka needs a rest from time to time and Odegaard has not been untouchable this season.

Agree that Dowman looks unbelievable though. Long term surely we want to be starting both if they progress like they have been?

5.) 26 May 2025 17:41:40
Have a look at Dowmans reels on Youtube, kid is a phenom.

6.) 26 May 2025 20:45:28
Scored a beauty for England under 17s against Czechia.

{Ed014's Note - he’s a gem mate, got to hold on to him!

7.) 26 May 2025 20:50:35
Think that's why Arteta is pulling him into the squad at such a young age mate and deffo.

{Ed014's Note - fingers crossed mate, hopefully get some minutes next season in the cup games.

Seeing rumours linking us with Ashworth. Not sure I'd like him at Arsenal.

RSharpe

1.) 13 Dec 2024 01:08:39
I'm sure I read he wanted Southgate at United, i hope we steer clear.

Hi Ed002

Andreas Skov Olsen - is he any good and do Arsenal have an interest?

RSharpe

{Ed002's Note - Andreas Skov Olsen (RW) Has had a very good time at Brugge since moving from Bologna. Long term interest of Spurs remains but they see the 30M asking price as high. Brentford consider him an option to replace Bryan Mbuemo. I am not aware of any approach by Arsenal.}

1.) 26 Aug 2024 10:47:11
Thanks Ed002.

Any changes in the in and out landscape for you? Do you know if Arsenal are done with ins for this window or if they're maybe trying to make something happen because of Jesus' injury?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think they have finished just yet.}

21 Feb 2024 15:01:46
Ed002, are Arsenal interested in Ederson da Silva, at Atalanta?

RSharpe

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Arsenal interest and they have other targets.}

13 Nov 2023 17:38:58
Rumour doing the round that Arsenal could offer ESR in a swap deal for Douglas Luiz.

ESR not really getting games with us.

RSharpe

1.) 13 Nov 2023 20:14:27
Shame if true. ESR is a better player than Havertz, and could do a good job in there if given the chance.

2.) 16 Nov 2023 14:01:09
I am a big ESR fan, but I am starting to wonder if he is going to another Jack Wilshire (also a player that I loved in an Arsenal shirt)

he seems to have never really had a sustained season without an injury and when you consider that he was ahead in his time scale of first team than Saka was and how far apart their careers look now I am for the first time starting to wonder if we would be better off moving on From ESR.

Which I really dislike saying out loud.

10 Jun 2025 10:05:59
Ornstein: Move for Martin Zubimendi is done and signed.

Looks like one has got over the line.

RSharpe

1.) 10 Jun 2025 12:28:05
Fingers? Sharpie mate.

2.) 10 Jun 2025 12:41:06
Hope so Sharpie thought he was excellent for Spain v Portugal! So was leao, Williams not so much! Rice Ode and Zubi wow! COYG.

3.) 10 Jun 2025 14:41:24
He now reckons we are interested in Newcastle's Gordon.

4.) 10 Jun 2025 15:31:47
We need someone to collect scrap iron around the stadium once we start the extension, Antony "Steptoe" Gordon will be perfect.

5.) 10 Jun 2025 17:14:26
I take it you don't like him Sparky mate??.

6.) 10 Jun 2025 17:52:30
Good player Billy but fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!

7.) 10 Jun 2025 17:57:55
You Dirty, Dirty, Dirty old man Sparky ????.

8.) 10 Jun 2025 18:56:23
????.

9.) 10 Jun 2025 20:20:18
Very harsh Fabio COYG.

10.) 10 Jun 2025 22:21:30
At least he's not ginge. Just saying.

09 Jun 2025 11:34:05
Not managed to see much of him lately, but Calvert-Lewin on a free for anyone? Decent-ish backup.

RSharpe

{Ed025's Note - you are welcome to him Sharpy, worse finisher than Kai but may be ok as a back up i suppose because he is very good in the air mate..

1.) 09 Jun 2025 12:33:34
That's why the "decent-ish" disclaimer, Ed025. We can't do any worse than Jesus, I'd hope.

{Ed025's Note - hes out of contract Sharpy so not much of a risk, with better service like he would get at Arsenal he could be a good option mate..

2.) 09 Jun 2025 13:20:54
Thinking we`ll buy a striker and Kai and Jesus ( Jesus kept short term) as cover. Merino if needed but it`s a hard no from me - need better COYG.

3.) 09 Jun 2025 13:32:25
Sus, I think we'll definitely buy a striker, and if we do where do both Kai and Merino fit in? Neither of them are actually strikers.

4.) 09 Jun 2025 13:56:09
Hey Sharpie. I'm as good as Calvert -Lewin. well, on the injury count at least. Plus I'm good in the air, I'm a window cleaner and I haven't got double barrelled surname so cheaper for the fan who wants my name on back of shirt ?.

{Ed025's Note - love it Ramsgate..

5.) 09 Jun 2025 14:11:33
No prem experience though Ramie.

6.) 09 Jun 2025 14:20:31
Yeah, that's my downfall. Only premier experience I've got is buying peroni and fag's from local premier shop. Not sure that'd get me through a fitness test.

7.) 09 Jun 2025 16:05:50
15 Peroni's and I'm sure you'll stumble your way through the fitness test Ramsdale mate, although you might want to limit yourself to only 3 fag's in the hour leading up to the test ?.

07 Jun 2025 18:15:56
Ornstein confirmed that deal close for Kepa. What's going on?

RSharpe

{Ed014's Note - I’m guessing there’s some kind of clause, Edu signed up to, that we have to have a Chelsea reject in our squad until 2027! ?

1.) 07 Jun 2025 19:06:07
We've triggered his £5m release clause according to Ornstein.

2.) 07 Jun 2025 19:09:04
Not a bad back up keeper and very cheap?

3.) 07 Jun 2025 19:51:45
And we want competition in every position.

4.) 07 Jun 2025 20:08:53
Really difficult to get a top class keeper in their prime to accept the number 2 spot Beefy mate so I'm with you, not a bad back up.

5.) 07 Jun 2025 20:34:12
Another Chelsea reject - guess we got rid of Sterling so we had to get another to keep Kai company on the bench,

Tired of buying players that aren’t good enough for City or Chelsea but deemed good enough for us. Even his current team sent him back to Chelsea and kept Neto….

To be fair - a cheap solution for a back up keeper with experience but doesn’t do much for our standing as a big club.

6.) 07 Jun 2025 20:38:32
Sondecent that even Bournemouth didn't want to keep him. This isn't a good signing at all.

7.) 08 Jun 2025 10:32:54
Sy and Sharpie, which really decent keeper would come as a backup to Raya?
If Madrid come in for Raya it would be a very different matter I reckon and then we'd have to go all out for a new no.1 keeper!

8.) 08 Jun 2025 11:32:33
I can’t see an issue here! Saying Bournemouth are preferring Neto to Kepa isn’t true. They sent Neto out on loan and preferred Kepa. Maybe we could just could possibly think Bournemouth are looking at a new number one eg Ramsdale who played there who wouldn’t stay as our number two. Neto played 2 games!

Experienced, rated by Bournemouth fans and let in 1.2 goals per game. Agree with Sally a top keeper won’t wear being number 2 unless you are C£ty and pay gazillions to sweeten those splinters!

Be interesting to see how Allison and their new keeper get on . Didn’t go well for Leno / Martinez and Raya / Ramsdale partnerships.

Not on my radar that Arsenal are a small club with this signing COYG.

{Ed014's Note - in hindsight Sussex, I think it’s just the Chelsea link that bugs me more than Kepa himself.

Whilst he’s not a number 1 he’s a capable backup in the world of second choice keepers.

If he pushes Raya to be better, more so than Neto, then that’s a bonus too.

9.) 08 Jun 2025 11:54:18
Ed014 let’s ignore the Chelsea link - he’s spent the last two years at no less than Real Madrid and Bournemouth! While we’re at it let’s ignore his petulant spat with Sarri #ignoreanythingwedontagreewith?. COYG.

{Ed014's Note - that’s why I’m ignoring it, in hindsight obvs?

10.) 08 Jun 2025 12:00:53
Ancelloti felt he was a good enough number 2 and they won the Champions League. Just can’t see the downside COYG.

{Ed014's Note - #noneedtolabouryourvalidpoint!?

11.) 08 Jun 2025 12:15:14
I think the fact he has come from Chelsea is the real issue for those who are unhappy at arrival of Kepa.

The player himself is not responsible for people's feelings about past ex Chelsea players and he should be judged on his own his own merits, the club would be foolish to turn down a good deal simply because of fans feelings about past dealings with one particular club.

Personally I don't think Petr Cech, Jorgonho and Kai were been bad signings for us at all but accept others like Stirling and Willian didn't come off as everyone had hoped. All singings are a gamble no matter who they are or where they come from and all clubs and managers get it wrong sometimes.

12.) 08 Jun 2025 12:23:08
??? #censorship? I thought it was the done thing to labour a point ??? COYG.

{Ed014's Note - now that’s a point you can’t labour to much!??

13.) 08 Jun 2025 14:20:12
It’s just the label of us buying City and Chelsea rejects - none of the past 3 or 4 are good signings and players Chelsea didn’t want. Luiz, Willian, Kai, Sterling - none of them should have happened. We can’t keep being rejects from Chelsea it’s a terrible label.

This is a good cheap signing for 5m as back up as long as we aren’t paying 150k in wages.

It’s 100% the Chelsea / City reject label that annoys me as we are better than that.

14.) 08 Jun 2025 14:21:45
Forgot about Jorginho - should never have been allowed. Another player who slows down play and past his prime.

{Ed014's Note - What about your mate Gallas???

15.) 08 Jun 2025 14:59:02
Maybe it really is time to take a break from City and Chelsea player's, prehaps going back to Man United for more like Silvestre, Mkhitaryan Welbeck would make a nice change ?.

16.) 08 Jun 2025 16:01:18
Very true 62 - in the Wenger years that weren’t his best but still delivered regular silverware. What’s your point? That Arteta is making decisions like Wenger in his decline? ? ? What happened to our best manager when he made these decisions?

Ef014 - you've got a good memory. Not a Gallas fan but I do listen to ex-pros more than I do posters with rise tinted specs ? although some just state things to create noise around their name or they are a spurs player or hidden agenda…

You know I’ve hit rock bottom if I quote numptey Keir ( Change my opinion on everything Starmer even to the point as to what a woman is) on needing to invest in a striker. ? ?.

{Ed014's Note - personally wouldn’t pay any attention to what 99.99% of what ex pros waffle on about.

To think ex pros like Rooney get paid to talk about other managers when they are probably more capable of doing the job than that clown.

17.) 08 Jun 2025 18:15:40
Historically which selling clubs have consistently sold us players that turned out to be really good singing for us? Are these the clubs where we should look to sign all the future players from?

Equally which club's have sold us the most players who failed to deliver for us? Should we form a banned list and refuse to ever do business with these clubs ever again?

Or alternatively should we judge each potential new signing on their own individual ability and the price it would take to bring them to Arsenal regardless of whoever the potential selling club just happen to be, leaving the past where it truly belongs.

18.) 08 Jun 2025 18:59:33
Yes, mostly the Chelsea link. Almost every player we've bought from them seem to have come over in their decline. I would have happily had Szczesny back instead.

If I touch a hot stove a few times, I learn quickly not to do it again. If Arsenal repeatedly buy what turn out to be duds from Chelsea, well, my reaction to another such signing is going to be quite understandable.

19.) 08 Jun 2025 20:30:24
Liverpool or City won’t sell us their best players unless they can upgrade etc.

What person is their right mind was saying - let’s sign Kai 3 years ago…. Yet now he’s great. BS. Chelsea made a mockery out of us getting 65m for him and our FFP being impacted by his ridiculous 280k wage. That’s more than Nico, Sesko etc etc. that could have gotten us Watkins. That was a Marmoush investment and impacted the wage expectations of all. Why would Saka be happy that Kai is on 280K pw…

Chelsea have found a great way to dispose of players. The board / Boss have been able to buy players with experience to help get us top 4 but completely lack ambition to get players to really progress us.

Same story in the Jan window - we are happy getting top 4 and Europe. Selling us short.

Same for City. - they won’t allow us to get better than them by selling best player to us. Utd were the same when Wenger was a competitor. When we weren’t, we were happy buying their rejects and look where it got us.

You are defending the board / boss blindly - I’m not attacking the boss just stating buying rejects from competitors cannot make us better than them by definition…I am drawing the parallels for you. Not attacking you. Or Arteta.

{Ed014's Note - it doesn’t take much to light your touch paper SY ??

20.) 08 Jun 2025 21:12:30
Ec014 - can you delete

{Ed014's Note - sorry SY, once it’s up I can’t delete it mate.

21.) 08 Jun 2025 21:20:34
You are not wrong Ed, I’m putting my phone down. I’m sure 62 knows what buttons to press. It’s the blind faith that gets me and not questioning what we do.
I need to chill - I am genuinely open minded to be wrong and enjoy challenge and friction as that’s how I understand thinks better. That and listening to experts hence my question to you,

I try to back up my point because I want to understand what I’m missing so ask for a counter argument with substance.

I’m a little blunt also - not to be mean or I know best. I just am . It’s that or waffle… lol

I should take it easy.

{Ed014's Note - you should defo do that SY, I’m no expert though, we all know what we want the club to do and football is a passionate sport.

We just have to except a little, that we can’t control what happens inside the club as much as we’d truly love too.

Doesn’t mean we can’t have opinions, I know you wear your heart on your sleeve, maybe just try not to let things eat you up so much.

22.) 08 Jun 2025 21:50:20
Cool - appreciate the comments

Thanks for all your replies

Enjoy your week ❤️?

You too 62 ❤️?.

{Ed014's Note - and you too SY ?

23.) 11 Jun 2025 14:49:13
You're a good man SY and a lot of what you write aligns with what I think - you wear your corazon outside yourself. That aside let's be positive and get behind our boys. No other posters from different clubs has or have (IMO) the same passion as what use posters share on this site. We need to get behind the board and our boys and be optimistica about what lays ahead. Onwards and upwards carnal (you'll need to look that term up as English is not my first language) .

24.) 11 Jun 2025 20:05:51
Hi Corbs, hope you are well. Love the word corazon. I really am hopeful for this season. Genuinely think Arteta has realised he needs a striker and better options. Hopefully we get the business done and everyone is celebrating! Espero que estés bien y feliz. bienvenido a la pagina. ?.

06 Jun 2025 18:09:27
Rodrygo, Leao, or Williams? Not sure if we're in for any of them but who would be your preferred choice?

RSharpe

1.) 06 Jun 2025 18:46:21
Nico - like his directness and turn of pace and dribbling skills. Exciting player.

{Ed014's Note - does he work hard defensively, needed the way we play or does he stand around watching?

2.) 06 Jun 2025 19:08:20
What about Barcola?

3.) 06 Jun 2025 19:06:04
Surely with 2 defensive midfielders, inverted fullbacks which one being a CD - we can afford a luxury. I get tired of us wanting a defender of an attacker. I want someone who makes me stand up when they get the ball.
Does he press in the opponents half?

4.) 06 Jun 2025 19:12:52
I wasn’t having a pop there - I know that’s what Arteta likes. More defence than bloody attack….

Surely the boy can press and get back occasionally.

{Ed014's Note - SY our boys did it all but you’re basing all your concerns on last seasons poor showing.

The team are capable of doing it all, Sane fell out with team mates because he’s lazy.

We don’t have lazy players, no matter how good.

You buy into the squad, you do the exciting stuff but you work too.

5.) 06 Jun 2025 20:15:37
Sharpie I have done the work so you don`t have to :) I have compared the games played goals scored and assists. There are many imponderables including age, injuries, strength of the teams in the league each player plays against week in week out and potential etc
These are the bare stats

2024/ 25 assists goals league matches played
Rodrygo 6 6 30
Laeo 10 8 34
Williams 5 5 29
Martinelli 4 8 33

2023/ 2024
Rodrygo 5 10 34
laeo 10 9 34
Williams 13 5 31
Martinelli 4 6 35

2022/ 2023
Rodrygo 9 9 34
Laeo 10 15 35
Williams 4 6 36
Martinelli 6 15 36

Worryingly the only players to hit the expected 15 goals are Laeo and Gabi two seasons ago! . Gakpo scored 10 in a title winning season in 35 games. On assists Laeo consistently gets 10 assists for past three seasons. My question is are these stellar left wingers any better than Martinelli ( certainly they`re not Prem ready) and are we unrealistic in expecting a left winger to score 15 goals?

As an aside there is a website called one-versus-one.com where you can compare any two players. There are tons and tons of different stats and they eventually compare the two players.
Rodrygo and Williams score 69, Martinelli 71 and Leao 72.
Bare facts say nothing between them all. So I`m going with Leao and Martinelli to battle it out. But heart says Williams or Rodrygo who knew COYG
(No animals hurt in compiling these stats) .

6.) 06 Jun 2025 20:20:12
Xavi Simons for me. A reputed CAM, but played a lot of LW this past season at Leipzig. Plus, he's experienced with RBL's high pressing system which Arteta will love. Can push Martinelli at LW and relieve Odegaard from time to time at the right 8.

7.) 06 Jun 2025 20:41:06
Mitoma? If nothing else it aggravates the locals COYG.

8.) 06 Jun 2025 20:42:25
Ed014 - so you saying Williams doesn’t cut it for you? Who you going for and why…. ?

I like opinions not fence huggers… ?

I could care if Martinelli tracks back. He gets off side stupidly and does attack smartly.

{Ed014's Note - SY I honestly have no idea who we’ll buy or who would suit us best, hence why I asked about the style of the player you want.

You get yourself in a right state mate. Chill and wait and see. ?

9.) 06 Jun 2025 20:52:03
Thanks for the legwork Sus. How you doing lad? Everything ok?

10.) 06 Jun 2025 21:18:25
All good mate - didn`t post for a while due to the constant flouncing and negativity but mainly because I really would get banned ten times over if I posted what I felt. Toxic bollox but as always people can express their opinions so best to just leave it don`t need that in my life. Trust Scotland treating you well and I`ve a smashing range of Rollecks - all genuine honest COYG I`m still none the wiser for winger and striker - chanelling me as a kid on Christmas morning awaiting the surprise as I can`t influence it oh feck that Watkins and Williams :) #WAWi`dexpectnothingelseed14.

{Ed014's Note - ok I won’t ?

11.) 06 Jun 2025 21:44:56
Ed014, it was more who you rate best out of those 3.
I’m not trying to guess what the club will do - if I was I’d say a fullback or another position we don’t need ?
I just want to watch nice football and be happy the club put their best foot forward, want to win as much as I do and the boss grows some ? and plays more progressive football. I loved watching first 10 years or so of Wengerball. It’s entertainment so it needs to entertain.

{Ed014's Note - SY we had two years of great football chasing City, this last season just didn’t come off.

Don’t get bent out of shape about that and assume that’s us and that’s all we can do, you’ve seen with your own eyes how good we can be but all you see is last seasons poor showing and treat that as some kind of norm now.

12.) 06 Jun 2025 21:47:33
I’m intense Ed- know that ? but I’m still happy as I have a great family and homelife. Some of that is thru working exceedingly hard to be the best I can and have the best team. Which is intense. ?

Hope you are well and family good - glad we put everything behind us. ?.

{Ed014's Note - we all are to a degree mate and yes me too!

13.) 06 Jun 2025 21:51:39
Great work Sussex - you’d go Laeo based on goal and assist combined… he looks great also. All 3 would be a step up but some of Martinelli problem is probably Ode only looking right.

Interesting seeing Saka switch to left a bit in last few games. Nice to see the shifting of wings and it giving us more width.

14.) 06 Jun 2025 21:56:54
How about Eze? Has better stats than all of them last season.

{Ed014's Note - yeah I like him too mate.

15.) 06 Jun 2025 22:08:38
Wondered where you'd gotten lost sus. Good you're well, mate.

I've had my fill of Rolicks. I can't afford them anymore. Have you heard about the cost of living crisis?

Sparks, Barcola is a good shout too.

16.) 06 Jun 2025 22:30:34
True - we played some nice football the year before. Let’s hope that’s the std and where we build upon. Add a striker to that, a winger and get CM sorted then we could be Champs. That’s a better view. ?

Šeško, Eze and Zubi added to that with an additional CF plus youth promoted should see us in a great spot.

Ok - good therapy session ??.

17.) 07 Jun 2025 08:14:57
Helder Glenn, I'm with you - Eze would be a treat. Mitoma or Williams (exciting to watch! ) are a great should too, but hey. it's any man, woman, them, they, giraffe, camel's gamble!

If 14 had his way, we'd never have fat players, lazy players, ugly players, big nosed players, and the list goes on. Just ask Sussex.

Sorry to hear that Mal.

Have fun on the trip and keep us updated. And don't chat up and Sarahs in front of the wife.

If only anything you said was remotely true. From the numerous times you've accused people of being someone else, to the constant belittling of other people's concerns, opinions, or arguements about the team that don't align with the zen philosophy you're peddling. It's like you do it for a living. It's very weird.

Don't know if bonnie Scotland will be home forever, but a return to the gulf isn't in the cards. These days I don't mind it for a holiday, but I haven't been over for 6 years now.

Plus, I have a higher power that makes these decisions. She called Wife ?.

{Ed001's Note - ah yes, she who must be obeyed.}
