Great result, now put the final to one side and do your stuff on Saturday.

Well done the lads and all the fans in the stadium. What an atmosphere.

My knee is still knackered.

Havertz out for 4 games, how on earth does this keep happening.

That's a big blow IMO.

Apparently he wanted to have a pain killing injection and play but the medical staff said no Banbury mate.

2.) 26 Feb 2026 16:54:20
I believe he is made of cheese.

See Benny Sesko move is facing a new challenge from the Middle East.

Banburyshire Gooner

1.) 10 Jun 2025 11:37:14
I've read he still wants European football Banbury. Hope so!

2.) 10 Jun 2025 12:58:58
I hope so Sally, let's get it done eh?

3.) 10 Jun 2025 23:06:47
Surely the biggest issue is us trying to get him for way less than buy out amount or whatever the term is. Lowballing offers ?.

4.) 11 Jun 2025 09:25:50
Feck it let's pay whatever they want ( it’s called negotiating) and once we’ve paid too much whacked his wages through the roof and he’s not that great we can moan all season a bit like Kai perhaps? Also maybe that extra £10 mill might be the difference between getting say Garnacho ( NO! ) and Laeo. Cat the moment maybe we are choosing to slam the club and its transfer policy while knowing feck all! I apologise for language and trying not to labour the point ? COYG.

5.) 11 Jun 2025 18:45:15
Well said Cumbria mate ?.

6.) 12 Jun 2025 11:15:06
Sy I know we have a history of doing that, but I don't think that is the case with Sesko,

I believe he has a Movable (stupid idea) release clause, so I think the RB are chancing their arm a bit as they know we have chased for 2 years and now there is saudi money involved. I think we will get him for less than they are trying to say, as, according to all the reports, those have always been the figures talked about.

funny how Liverpool don't get the same criticism as arsenal for going in under a figure that the club wants. they are short of Wirtz asking price but have been largely applauded for making the offer.

7.) 12 Jun 2025 15:59:12
You’re right Hampshire, if true it’s Liverpool’s third bid! I say even if you will pay the full amount put in a lower offer. I guess it’s a fine line between taking the mick and a sensible lower offer! COYG.

{Ed014's Note - please tell me you’re not labouring this point Sussex! ?

8.) 12 Jun 2025 22:10:09
?? I’m labouring the labouring the point point COYG.

9.) 12 Jun 2025 22:07:59

10.) 14 Jun 2025 22:40:11
Sorry Sussex - are you saying Kai was a good purchase or are you painfully using him as a good example of a great negotiation? A player Chelsea probably could not believe anyone would want, getting 65m for EHI. egiving him the highest wage at the club while not being a player we needed. Strange point.

So if a house is on the market - offers over 2m. You think offering 1.2m is reasonable if the 2m probably isn’t a million miles away. Have you ever negotiated anything? It’s a stupid way of pretending you are interested or missing out on players you want ( sound familiar ) or getting them so late thst they don’t do preseason training with the club.

I’m not saying don’t negotiate as I’m not stupid enough to think 5m saved won’t get us a Chelsea keeper. Give me a break mate - I’ve been around and got a bit of experience. Picking Kai as example is laughable.

Crap negotiation for a player who isn’t good enough and we don’t need. That signing encapsulates what’s wrong with our club for me. Hard work over goals and not paying more for what we really need. Perhaps buying a player who’s easy to manage rather than a difficult winner who will be ruthless in front of goal but may be not track back. Was Wrighty a good defender or a good goal order. Or Anelka…. Neither of which we would sign as they like to score rather than defend.

11.) 15 Jun 2025 05:27:43
My post had nothing to do with Kai his transfer or ability! It was about you constantly slagging him off - labouring the point- and classicly you reply …. slagging Kai off! Oh and the club and MA. Not enlightening in any way shape or form, for me anyway COYG.

I don't see Alvarez as an improvement, leave him where he is and save the money.

Banburyshire Gooner

1.) 27 Aug 2026 16:52:42
Bring him in, then sell him off to Barca.

2.) 27 Aug 2026 17:23:17
I have heard that being suggested, Davy. I reckon that will be the only way for him to get to Barcelona. I wonder why that club holds such fascination for him. I suppose he could go to a Saudi club for a couple of years, pocket lots of pennies, and then off to Barca, if they still want him.

Not Alvarez related, but I heard mention why players prefer London, and that is because they can be sort of anonymous, whereas at northern clubs they are in a goldfish bowl.

24 Aug 2026 08:12:44
Lot of noise this morning over Alvarez but do you know what, leave the squad as it is and keep Martinelli and Big Vic.

Obviously the the usual suspects should be let go, Jesus, Nwaneri, Vieira but I would keep what we got.

With regards Alvarez he doesn't want to come here so don't bother. 20 goals in 67 for M City. Is he really the answer and he's Argentinian so I don't want him, sorry if that doesn't sit with some of you, but they are a bad bunch.

Good morning Banbury, mate, hope you are well. It's your opinion, mate, and you're entitled to it.
Me personally, I cannot see the point in pursuing a player who clearly sees us as a lowly second choice.
Take care, mate.

2.) 24 Aug 2026 09:10:47
Just like to add, judging by the reaction of Athletico fans last night, whether Barca buy him or us or anybody else, his time at Athletico looks over.

3.) 24 Aug 2026 11:50:57
Hi Bill, all good and you? He won't take us to the next level imo.

Leave it as it is, I think.

4.) 24 Aug 2026 19:00:52
Alvarez
22/23 Premier League Pl 31 scored 9.
23/24 Premier League Pl 36 scored 11.
24/25 La Liga Pl 37 scored 17.
25/26 La Liga Pl 29 scored 8.
In total, played 133, scored 45 in 4 seasons.

Gyokeress
25/26 Premier League Pl 36 scored 14.

The goals per game look almost identical to me, and the only difference appears to be Gyokeress has had just one season in top level football with a top team, while Alvarez has had 4 seasons in top level football with a top team without yet becoming a prolific goal scorer at top level.

I can't see the logic in swapping Gyokeress for Alvarez at all.

If I was looking for a striker I would be looking at Thiago, he was excellent last year and PL proven.

1.) 21 Aug 2026 10:31:36
He is a good shout and still potential to develop.

06 Aug 2026 10:51:18
So where does that leave us no the Jnr debacle is over, I can't help feeling we have been used to get him a better offer.

Anyone else on offer?

Banburyshire Gooner

1.) 06 Aug 2026 12:05:07
Hello Banbury, I would not call it a debacle, I think we genuinely believed we could get him.
I don't think we were used by Vini's agents to get a better deal. Real offered him an improved deal, which by all accounts he is going to accept. The fact that Real improved their offer seems to me that there was genuine concern he would leave to come to us. If Real thought that Vini was using us to get a better deal then I think they would have dug their heels in.

Personally, I wasn't bothered either way.
Rashford is worth a punt, an idea that's been put forward by other posters.
Barcola is another Martinelli imo.
Williams, never impressed when I have seen him.
Nusa, the Norwegian winger, looks good as well.
My choice would be Rashford.
Take care, Banbury, mate.
COYG.

2.) 06 Aug 2026 17:16:36
I also was not very hopeful with Vini. I feel we are some way away for top Real or Barcelona players to want to come to us; we have to be consistently winning or challenging for the PL and CL for that to happen. I also believe we will be there in the next 2-3 years.

We have got Tzolis to cover left wing. We should get Rashford and Osimhen. With Bruno also looking like a done deal, we should be set up nicely for the next season with these additions.

3.) 07 Aug 2026 06:06:14
Liverpool fan here, and I say this as sincerely as possible, but I think you all dodged a bullet not getting Vini. Arteta's main positive was that he was able to build a squad that all pulled together in the same direction. imo Vini would have disrupted the harmony in the squad, and while he is a great player, you'd be a weaker team overall.

4.) 07 Aug 2026 08:11:30
Agreed, Dracred. Real are a club that is set up for players with huge egos, but Chelsea and United are currently two clubs still trying to rediscover a collective team mentality after signing too many players who thought they were doing those clubs a favour by signing for them.

Building and developing a genuinely collective mentality that runs through an entire club can take years to achieve, but it can be lost in a couple of months if you bring in players with the wrong mentality for your club.

04 Aug 2026 07:56:43
I'm struggling to understand our policy in the transfer window, why all the faffing about, why not get the deal done on Bruno before he flies to Spain to join up with Newcastle.

As for all this Jnr chat. If you believe it, we have the first PL game two weeks Friday; it's baffling.

Someone enlighten me.

Banburyshire Gooner

1.) 04 Aug 2026 12:06:30
I like to think, Banbury, we are now breathing in rarefied air for decent players. Look how long Liverpool spent on Diomande (might still happen, apparently) and how long they have taken on Barcola without much opposition. Decent players and agents are looking for big bucks in this window, particularly. Plus, everyone is in for wingers, so options are kept open. I can't believe the Vini Jr rumours, and think for the disruption he isn't worth it, but MA possibly does. Once off holiday, Bruno seems to be moving quickly, and I'm sure there is another big signing coming.

The first few weeks throw up strange results, and we just have to make sure we don't get left behind in the weeks before the international break, which I'm sure the Champions have got covered. Buying tons of players is notoriously difficult to integrate, and from a position of strength, adding Bruno plus another will see us good to go. There are so many moving parts to a transfer, I'm sure we aren't faffing around, but making sure Bruno, our top target by the way, is done. Hope you're well, Banbury. COYG

2.) 04 Aug 2026 16:03:39
From what I have heard, BG, the clubs have agreed a deal in principle, but Newcastle have been trying to sign his replacement before entering into formal negotiations.

3.) 04 Aug 2026 16:36:36
According to the BBC website, Arsenal and Newcastle are now, for the first time, in direct discussions with each other regarding the transfer. All previous discussions have been through intermediaries.

The BBC main page itself (obviously discounting its daily round up of media gossip) doesn't report very much transfer news, but what little it does report is usually petty reliable, so it does look like both parties are now looking to do business with each other regarding Bruno.

?

4.) 04 Aug 2026 16:54:15
Hello John, mate, hope everyone and everything is good.
You're right there, mate, about the BBC.
Plus, David Ornstein has posted that the deal is close.
I think we are all in agreement that it's a fantastic signing for us.
Take care, John, mate.
COYG.

5.) 04 Aug 2026 17:28:47
Hi Bill, mate. Ormstien and the Beeb both reporting positive news about the deal definitely makes me feel it's a matter of when, not if, it will happen.

Take care, Bill, mate, and catch you soon. ?

The trouble is that budget was set before the ridiculous Anderson fee and it's clearly inflated the market, Arsenal must adjust accordingly.

Surely, after the success of last season, this summer of all summers, we can afford to be a bit extravagant, not careless, but just a tad more 'flash' with the cash?

Has to be a money thing. Players nowadays just want a huge bank balance. If we aren't careful, we could end up with a very disappointing transfer window, when, let's be honest, at the end of May, huge sums of money were being talked about.
