See Benny Sesko move is facing a new challenge from the Middle East.
1.) 10 Jun 2025 11:37:14
I've read he still wants European football Banbury. Hope so!
2.) 10 Jun 2025 12:58:58
I hope so Sally, let's get it done eh?
3.) 10 Jun 2025 23:06:47
Surely the biggest issue is us trying to get him for way less than buy out amount or whatever the term is. Lowballing offers ?.
4.) 11 Jun 2025 09:25:50
Feck it let's pay whatever they want ( it’s called negotiating) and once we’ve paid too much whacked his wages through the roof and he’s not that great we can moan all season a bit like Kai perhaps? Also maybe that extra £10 mill might be the difference between getting say Garnacho ( NO! ) and Laeo. Cat the moment maybe we are choosing to slam the club and its transfer policy while knowing feck all! I apologise for language and trying not to labour the point ? COYG.
5.) 11 Jun 2025 18:45:15
Well said Cumbria mate ?.
6.) 12 Jun 2025 11:15:06
Sy I know we have a history of doing that, but I don't think that is the case with Sesko,
I believe he has a Movable (stupid idea) release clause, so I think the RB are chancing their arm a bit as they know we have chased for 2 years and now there is saudi money involved. I think we will get him for less than they are trying to say, as, according to all the reports, those have always been the figures talked about.
funny how Liverpool don't get the same criticism as arsenal for going in under a figure that the club wants. they are short of Wirtz asking price but have been largely applauded for making the offer.
7.) 12 Jun 2025 15:59:12
You’re right Hampshire, if true it’s Liverpool’s third bid! I say even if you will pay the full amount put in a lower offer. I guess it’s a fine line between taking the mick and a sensible lower offer! COYG.
{Ed014's Note - please tell me you’re not labouring this point Sussex! ?
8.) 12 Jun 2025 22:10:09
?? I’m labouring the labouring the point point COYG.
9.) 12 Jun 2025 22:07:59
Always Ed it’s the done thing ? COYG
#mustrememberonecommentperthread?.

Sorry Sussex - are you saying Kai was a good purchase or are you painfully using him as a good example of a great negotiation? A player Chelsea probably could not believe anyone would want, getting 65m for EHI. egiving him the highest wage at the club while not being a player we needed. Strange point.
So if a house is on the market - offers over 2m. You think offering 1.2m is reasonable if the 2m probably isn’t a million miles away. Have you ever negotiated anything? It’s a stupid way of pretending you are interested or missing out on players you want ( sound familiar ) or getting them so late thst they don’t do preseason training with the club.
I’m not saying don’t negotiate as I’m not stupid enough to think 5m saved won’t get us a Chelsea keeper. Give me a break mate - I’ve been around and got a bit of experience. Picking Kai as example is laughable.
Crap negotiation for a player who isn’t good enough and we don’t need. That signing encapsulates what’s wrong with our club for me. Hard work over goals and not paying more for what we really need. Perhaps buying a player who’s easy to manage rather than a difficult winner who will be ruthless in front of goal but may be not track back. Was Wrighty a good defender or a good goal order. Or Anelka…. Neither of which we would sign as they like to score rather than defend.
11.) 15 Jun 2025 05:27:43
My post had nothing to do with Kai his transfer or ability! It was about you constantly slagging him off - labouring the point- and classicly you reply …. slagging Kai off! Oh and the club and MA. Not enlightening in any way shape or form, for me anyway COYG.
07 May 2025 12:00:05
Kudus
Reports that we are in for him from W Ham. surely not.
1.) 07 May 2025 14:31:34
Ed totally appreciate its way too early to be talking transfers. With K De Bryne out of contract and Martin under performing since becoming Vegan, Any whispers of any interest big or small in De Bryne who is apparently open to staying in the PL? He is 33 and would want a hefty Salary I imagine.
{Ed014's Note - I just can’t see that happening mate, I also don’t think he really has a lot left in the tank, injuries are an issue too, let alone, as you say, the likely size of his wages.
I hadn’t realised Odegaard had become vegan, I looked at him in the training photos yesterday and he looked so gaunt.
He looked ill to be honest.
2.) 08 May 2025 18:41:42
That's what I have been thinking ED14. He seems so gaunt in the face, I was worried it could be an eating disorder .
{Ed014's Note - hopefully what ever the issue is Sally he manages to resolve it over the summer, it was a little shocking to see him looking that way.
23 Jul 2024 10:18:06
Hi Eds
Any news on a potential Centre Forward, surely we need one?
{Ed002's Note - We have been through this.}
1.) 24 Jul 2024 21:15:11
Hello Banbury hope all good! Shame you escaped the classic RTFP haha COYG.
2.) 26 Jul 2024 07:43:57

So what's our thoughts on selection for the CL, full strength or 7 or 8 changes?
I think VG has to start, the boy's confidence must be shot to bits.
1.) 27 Jan 2026 10:57:43
Morning BG Why do you think that surely if he ain't scoring then he should be benched.
2.) 27 Jan 2026 11:09:45
Well there are a few ATM that performing.
Ode and Saka for starters. Got a bit of sympathy for VG as he clearly doesn't get the service due to mainly Ode not releasing the ball quick enough.
If he was missing chance after chance, which he isn't, I would drop him.
Eze is the worry for me, needs a good long run in the first team instead of Ode who has been poor as a player and captain
Take care.
3.) 27 Jan 2026 11:33:35
I'd play Gykores up front. His physicality for me is the key and I'm sure the goals will come. Bring on Jesus/Merino/Havertz as subs.
I'd give Eze a start and Madueke as they need minutes to prove their worth.
I think Saliba needs a break.
Trossard to start with Martinelli on soon into the 2nd half.
I quite like the idea of subbing lots of players to bring on extra energy and sharpness.
Against ManU I thought some players looked tired. mentally, not just physically.
4.) 27 Jan 2026 12:24:50
Bill you are bang on, he just isn't getting the service and there is evidence of that . Eze does need a run and MO needs a rest.
SAL I think Martinelli could start, he has great form in the CL and was rested at the weekend.
Isn't Havertz injured again?
5.) 27 Jan 2026 13:37:29
Aha, I think you're right about Havertz Banbury. And I'm happy for Martinelli to start with Trossard on just after half time. I don't think either of them play to their advantage when on for the whole game.
6.) 27 Jan 2026 15:36:07
I'm hearing from a mate martinelli is on the way out.
7.) 27 Jan 2026 16:09:24
Hello Mal mate hope you are well.
I have been very critical of him in the past, bust he has shown some good form this season especially as a impact sub, so I would be disappointed not heartbroken if he went.
What do you think of Saka this season, showing signs to me that he thinks he might be too good for the club, know he has signed a long term contract but that means sweet fa nowadays
Take care.
8.) 27 Jan 2026 17:22:31
Afternoon Billy mate, from what I can see is saka is being marked by 2 players all the time white/timber are not doing enough to take 1 of those players away from him
MO needs to get closer to him and play a give and go attack
It's unfair in my opinion to blame our forwards for lack of goal they just are not getting the service our midfield although look superb on paper are just not doing it for me too defensive
Hope that makes sense old billy.
9.) 27 Jan 2026 17:59:16
Very good post Mal mate
Makes very clear sense
Take care.
10.) 27 Jan 2026 21:19:20
Guaranteed top 2 the only thing to gain from this match is money, thus I would rest everyone who's starting the next one and give some young lads their shot.
11.) 28 Jan 2026 11:34:09
I was hoping he would have rested them last week as it didn't really matter what the result was we were going through. Its a big lesson learnt for champions league you don't have to win all the games to go though and player rotation should be key factor. However looking back at our injuries i don't think we played with our strongest 11. Midfield for me right now has become an issue as Mal has pointed out we just are not getting the service. In the current setup the midfield move up so defence comes in to support midfield then raya comes out to support defence and leaves himself short. Needs addressing.
Still can't get over the fact we lost to united, but in the grand scheme of things may only be 1 game.
26 Jan 2026 09:40:25
Let's discuss our captain
He doesn't contribute enough with the ball and without it, vocally he IS NOT a leader, let's be honest you don't sub your captain, he is supposed to be the man. Is Arteta scared of a difficult conversation?
Give it to DR now show some backbone and get things sorted.
{Ed025's Note - Deco has not been at his best lately Banbury and while i think hes world class im not sure about captain material, but saying that i dont think MO is either mate and i see Gabby and Willy as the team leaders..
1.) 26 Jan 2026 11:52:07
Can't disagree with that ED, but someone other than MO.
{Ed025's Note - yeah Banbury im not even sure he should be a regular starter myself mate..
2.) 27 Jan 2026 05:50:57
Rice or gabriel should be our captain for me anyone of them.
21 Jan 2026 07:54:19
Excellent performance last night can't be faulted at all, away from home against last years finalists. terrific. I expected a win if I'm honest, CL football is suited to us, let's crack on against a buoyant Man Utd at the weekend.
Selection headache for Arteta upfront for sure, and someone tell me why o why won't Saka pass to Gyokeres?
1.) 21 Jan 2026 09:15:36
AT Mal . people are entitled to an opinion and we were pants against a very poor Forest side and NO credit was due, if you want to carry on wearing those rose tinted glasses you carry on.
As my post says we were excellent last night and credit is given
We really weren't in games that not only I have criticised but others have to.
Lets move onto the Mancs now and hopefully we carry on the from last night.
All the very best :)
2.) 21 Jan 2026 10:18:29
Banbury Hell of a result last nite but your still moaning at last week Jesus Christ have a break.
3.) 21 Jan 2026 11:20:27
Everyone has a right to have moan and groan especially when the team does not do well. It won't be the losses that effect us it will be the draws. Having said that we overall we are doing fantastic and we have a lot more things to be happy about then to moan about. Heads up stay together and we will win them all this season.
4.) 22 Jan 2026 03:22:45
Guaranteed top 2 is the best that could be asked for, and with the easiest game to spare. Its ugly at times but they're in a basically perfect position for everything.
15 Jan 2026 07:09:12
Very disappointed with the 2 goals we conceded last night, It's made it a tighter return leg than was necessary
A win is a win and we are 90 minutes away from a final.
1.) 15 Jan 2026 14:20:15
Kepa has shown himself to be bargain of the century I reckon BG.
09 Jan 2026 06:43:01
Against City at Home and the 2 games against Liverpool it looks like Arteta just doesn't want to take a risk and win the game .
Think I will give the City away game a miss when it's on lol.

Blimey Mal, that's a blast from the past I know.
Clock End or N Bank boy?
26 Jan 2026 13:24:01
Mr Connell also knew when we were pants, and like me in those days we saw some rubbish performances.
