According to one news outlet we have passed up on Sterling and Coman both.
If that's true then we go with what we got
COYG.
1.) 30 Aug 2024 19:56:56
Apparently we're back in talks for sterling.
2.) 30 Aug 2024 21:12:27
Apparently so Bristow mate.
3.) 30 Aug 2024 23:38:13
Taking their time ain't they haha.
23 Aug 2024 18:23:27
Fabio going back to Porto on loan
Surprised tbh.
1.) 23 Aug 2024 19:18:58
That came out of the blue HB!
2.) 23 Aug 2024 19:46:09
Yes it did Sally
Hope he returns to us, think there is a very good footballer in there somewhere.
3.) 23 Aug 2024 20:58:08
I think it's a great move, he needs to be playing to get his confidence back and couldn't ask for a better place than somewhere he's familiar.
He's barely going to play here to build any confidence or rhythm here.
Nwaneri may even have gone above him in terms of who would get any available minutes for a run out.
Hopefully it goes well for him.
4.) 24 Aug 2024 08:41:33
I agree, this is a win-win-win. He's getting regular game time at an age where it's make or break, he frees up space for Nwaneri, and he probably improves his stock if we choose to sell next year.

Hello everyone.
Would like to ask the Eds about our striking options.
Sesko, Osminhen, Rashford, Isak. Toney
They are main ones being linked.
If it came down to personal choice who would be their choice and why.
Have not seen hard anything of Sesko or Osimhen, so out of the other 3 my choice would be Isak
My thanks in advance.
{Ed002's Note - I have already answered about Osimhen and Sesko today.
Marcus Rashford (LW/F) Much will depend on what happens in the summer regarding a new coach, but I am sure Manchester United will be regretting the new long-term contract. A third-party has spoken to clubs, including Juventus and Arsenal about him on behalf of Manchester United, but I am not aware of any serious interest and both clubs have other targets. Spurs may offer a wildcard solution to replace Richarlison. Suggestion that he could be a Mbappe replacement at PSG seem far-fetched given they have other clear targets in mind.
Alexander Isak (S) Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak and will let Bruno Guimaraes be sold.
Ivan Toney (S) Brentford do not want to sell but are aware Toney may look to move up a step and will reluctantly look to perhaps £70M as a sale price in the summer - but will likely not get anything close to that. Newcastle, if they can sell their project to him, offer the chance of a return to the club who previously could find no use for him in the three years he was there - but that would only be in the most unlikely event they lose Isak. Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham have all sent scouts on more than one occasion to watch him prior to his ban, but Chelsea and Spurs have preferred options meaning West Ham, Arsenal or Manchester United are likely best placed to complete a transfer. First choice for Arsenal.}
1.) 04 Jun 2024 13:09:42
Thanks Ed mate
In depth as always.
2.) 05 Jun 2024 13:15:29
Arsenal have moved on from Toney. Sesko is priority it seems.
{Ed002's Note - What if Sesko signs for one of the other interested sides?}
3.) 05 Jun 2024 22:10:32
Then we move onto the next option but there is no way he chooses Chelsea or UTD over Arsenal. Chelsea are a shambles of a club.
4.) 07 Jun 2024 10:30:08
Money talks mate if they offer more wages then arsenal he might join them.
5.) 07 Jun 2024 16:53:46
A shambles of a club? We took 2 years off to rebuild after the sanctions and sale of the club. Hopefully coming together now and looking forward to giving you lot a challenge next season. In peace.
6.) 08 Jun 2024 21:40:51
Chelsea have quickly turned in Tottenham unless they get their act together and get world class manager they ain't winning anything.
7.) 09 Jun 2024 08:16:02
Ed002 is sesko going to chelsea then? And what is stopping us doing the toney deal now? He has a year left and a deal should be pretty straightforward i would guess? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Benjamin Sesko (S/F) RBL could be offered a quick profit. His agent has not stopped offering the player around since his move to RBL. Described by a well known ex-Premier League player and high-end scout as "raw but improving". Was on the list for Spurs as a potential Kane replacement but their interest has moved on to another player that they are now pushing for. Newcastle enquired as they were concerned they will lose Isak - but continue to struggle to sell their project to players and will look to keep hold of Isak over Guimaraes. They can now be discounted. Borussia Dortmund offer a wildcard solution. Chelsea have spoken with his agent when they had a preferred option, do not discount them as he is now likely their first choice. Arsenal have met with his agent but he appears to only be second choice for them still. Milan offer an option as a potential Giroud replacement and they are looking at adding two strikers this coming summer, but they are resigned to not signing Sesko and are looking to another now. A option for Manchester United who need to replace Anthony Martial this summer - but Sesko will not move to simply be cover so that needs to be clarified. Does not want to move to Saudi Arabia but is on Michael Emenalo's list. The release clause will be be €65M until June 30 after which his cost will go up - but RBL want an answer before the Euros begin so they can secure their preferred replacement. Chelsea would look to a deal on the cusp of the year end with the fee not paid before July 1 unless they are pushed.
There is nothing stopping Arsenal making an offer for Toney.}
21 May 2024 10:19:50
Hello Ed
Have Arsenal shown a interest in Brian Brobbey of Ajax
Much appreciate your insight.
{Ed002's Note - Brian Brobbey (S) Everton interest remains but so does their financial plight. Manchester United interest will go with ten Hag. A wildcard would be Arsenal. Ajax will not want to sell.}
1.) 21 May 2024 13:31:38
Cheers Ed
Much appreciated.

I posted just after Christmas that we had 9 games to play in January and by the end of that month what we could and can't win we be a lot clearer.
4 games gone
1 win
1 draw
2 losses.
Out of the Fa Cup and I cannot see if if had a few pints of Guinness us turning around the 2 nil deficit against Newcastle.
Spuds/ Villa at home in the league and Wolves away 3 very very tough games. So no improvement in form could see us needing snookers to win the league.
Zagreb at home
Girona away and I think we could afford to lose 1 of them and still be in the top 8 or at worst doing one of the play off ties. Now you probably know all this anyway but knowing how we faff about with transfers those games could well have been played before we buy a striker if we are actually in the market for one that is.
So if January is a meltdown month what do we do Gooners.
Has Mikel done enough to see the season out regroup and go again next season/ see the season out and bring in a new coach in the summer or get rid of him if it is meltdown January.
I know a lot of us Gooners are sitting on the fence with this one me included, but if it is worst case scenario I personally think we should get rid off as soon as.
Don't get we wrong I want Mikel to turn this around but as optimistic as I try to be I have serious doubts.
Take care everyone.
1.) 12 Jan 2025 21:30:47
We're 2nd in the league and highly likely to quality top 8 champions league, and you think we should sack the manager in the middle of the season with absolutely noone lined up to replace him?
When did everyone on this page abandon reason for madness?
2.) 12 Jan 2025 21:35:13
It's not madness in my book.
It's just my thoughts.
Perhaps I won't post anymore.
{Ed025's Note - Bill take no notice of what other people think mate, you have your own ideas and views and thats what this site is all about, i happen to agree on quite a few of the things you say actually and you are not a sheep so just ignore people who try to put your views down, i think you are a very good poster and always show courtesy and respect to others and if more were like you the site would be a better place to visit my friend, in the words of Shakespeare...F*** them..
3.) 12 Jan 2025 21:48:49
Thanks Ed mate
Appreciate the post
Take care.
{Ed025's Note - look after yourself Bill mate..
4.) 12 Jan 2025 21:51:53
Sorry Bill I have a penchant for the dramatic.
But the rest is a serious question as, even if you've had enough of him, I can't see what good firing him mid season without a plan or a replacement would be?
5.) 12 Jan 2025 22:28:37
Hi Bill you are a really good bloke and so is SW, you are both just feeling different emotions right now and seeing things differently right now " morning mind is wiser than evening mind "
Let the dust settle and reevaluate in a day or so. Please don't stop posting mate.
6.) 12 Jan 2025 23:03:09
HB, it’s a very good question and the board better be asking it. The board was just as responsible for Wenger’s downfall as the great man himself. He needed to be questioned and pushed to do better but board was cheap and happy with Top 4, selling best players and not competing….
I don’t think sacking him now is a good idea but he needs a chat. He’s had a tough year. Brought a lot on himself and had some horrendous buys. The Trust The process gang won’t like that just because he’s our manager and come 2nd twice. That’s impressive as was some of the football. However, the team bottled it as did Arteta. 2nd or 3rd - who cares as no one remembers.
His review :
Results - 1 trophy and improved the team plus quicker than expected. 2nd place but failed to kick on. Exceeds requirements last year
Tactics - requires improvements
Signings - requires Improvements
Mentality of team - requires improvements
Forward thinking - requires improvements
Decision making - requires improvements
Address poor performances - requires improvements
Nice guy who loves club - exceeds requirements
Overall - you have had a tough year so far. You have not addressed the glaring holes in the squad, the lack of winning mentality and performances are suffering. The team lacks confidence ( perhaps in you ) and I cannot see how you are trying to improve our performances. Even after halftime team talks - no difference. I’m beginning to feel you don’t want to win and aren’t prepared to make the tough decisions at the club to drive chsnge. We are a big team and must succeed - you have come close but couldn’t get it done twice. Both times your decision making was in question. This year, I’m not seeing you address it agsin - nothing. I do feel it’s unfair to judge right now with injuries etc but consider this a final warning and start driving change. We have backed you in the transfer market and now expect you to address the team performances first and ultimatly the trophy cabinet. Good luck and thank you.
12 Jan 2025 18:01:27
Tbh same as Tuesday night.
Newcastle and Utd took their chances when they had them then defended very well.
Not for the first time this season the visiting teams goalie plays a blinder.
We created chances but did not take them. We need a striker badly but who knows what Mikel has got planned.
Thought Sterling looked lively and looked like he was willing to take players on.
1.) 12 Jan 2025 18:07:55
Definitely need to mix things up Highbury.
2.) 12 Jan 2025 18:33:57
Last season and earlier this season we were very very tight at the back vut the more our attack fails to create and take chances the more the team loses shape. Ode and Rice are struggling for form and we are better when Saka and Ben White are available.
3.) 12 Jan 2025 19:25:24
What position did Rice excel at when at West ham
Are we playing him in a different position?
4.) 12 Jan 2025 19:58:38
He excelled for Arsenal last season mate.
5.) 12 Jan 2025 21:03:05
I think rice best positions is just in front of the back four breaking up play and using the ball… think arteta is trying to turn him into xhaka how he played the last season for us.
08 Jan 2025 15:09:17
Just like to say about comments about fans walking out.
If your pissed off with your team and you have spent a tidy sum going to the game sometimes it's a sort of protest against your teams display that's not a crime has the majority of them fans have shown their commitment by stumping up serious money for their season ticket.
When on the rare occasion I get a ticket depending whether it's a night game or 4.30 kick off on a Sunday or 5.30 Saturday dictates what time I leave the game because I live 2 and half hours drive from the Emirates.
I remember one game against Schalke in Champions league when Wenger was manager we were so bad I walked out 15 minutes from the end me and quite a few others.
1.) 08 Jan 2025 15:45:30
HB end of the day its your money your ticket your time you spend it how you like. However if you are there and you choose to leave then you are effecting the team morale and contributing for the downfall. Be the 12th man.
2.) 08 Jan 2025 16:55:29
I'm not buying this. Not one single player has ever gone home and felt badly about Highburybill or any other fan going home early.
If teams want fans to stay till the end, give them a reason to. Be entertaining.
{Ed014's Note - you’re on a mission today Sharpie ?
3.) 08 Jan 2025 17:04:11
I think you might under-estimate the sensitivity of human beings Sharpie.
4.) 08 Jan 2025 17:22:58
When was the last time you heard a footballer say, "it hurt my feelings that people started going home early"? I've not heard a single player mention this once in over 30 years of watching football. I think you're over estimating the possibility that they care.
5.) 08 Jan 2025 17:52:40
I don't think they will come out and say it purely on the basis that any comment towards the fans can cause an outrage among fans. Why do you thinks teams applaud their fans? why do you think some teams are harder to beat at home than away? Why do you think. Why do you think that most teams are worried about visiting stadiums. Its down to the fans. The fans mood and show of solidarity with team has a big impact on team performance and if you have not noticed that then maybe its time to stop smoking the green at half time (only joking about that mate)
6.) 08 Jan 2025 17:07:35
I've not had a spliff yet, mate.
{Ed014's Note - then I really can’t wait until you have ?
7.) 08 Jan 2025 18:46:30
G4, everything you're saying is contradicting what we saw on display yesterday.
1. We lost at home yesterday
2. Newcastle didn't seem worried boxing our stadium.
Fans applaud their team when they win. They applaud when their teams, even in loss, when said puts in a shift and have been seen to have played their hearts out.
If you accept these as a token of fan appreciation for these players, then surely you know that there's an opposite reaction in circumstances where the very requisites for applause are not in evidence. That was the game yesterday.
People are allowed to feel however they feel, react (non violently) however they want to react. If, and this is a big if, this affects any players, good! I don't have anyone waiting in the wings to applaud me when I deliver a shoddy work product to my clients.
8.) 08 Jan 2025 20:32:04
Sharpie - completely agree. Players need to show they care more. When Ode gave the ball away stupidly the other game - don’t sulk, go win it back you big baby. If they care and watch the games back - show next time you’ve learned / care by passing forward quicker. I don’t believe they show they are obsessed with winning.
Question - what are the players doing to encourage fans to be inconvenienced to stay right to the end to clap them off? I didn’t see anything from them. May be if Kai came out to do hearing practice they would stay. Fans won’t get home till after midnight….
Wenger got it:
"When somebody buys a ticket and spends £50, £60 or £70, it is not because he wants to be bored"
"It is because he wants to enjoy a football game. I feel we all have a responsibility to keep that going. "
"Of course, we also have the responsibility to win games and the difficulty in the job is to combine both, "
No one is saying Arteta is useless and why do we want a site with mono-opinions that just say well done, so happy you put some effort in and who cares if we don’t win because you tried and I don’t want to upset you by giving you any negative feedback.
Arteta has improved us and loves the club. BUT he is negative, stubborn and has not driven a winning mentality at all. He’s signed some right duds and stagnated. Our starting 11 isn’t good enough and never was. You are kidding yourself if you think that’s the case or that 11 players is a big enough squad. He’s been negligent by not addressing our issues 3 or 4 seasons ago when we weren’t in Europe and could get away with a smaller squad plus players weren’t knackered due to stupid Dec tournaments and pointless friendlies. BUT he knew that and needs to have the right sized squad. We always needed better atttacking options &he thought Kai, Trossard etc was sufficient. Head up his arse
If we aren’t honest and accept mediocrity then guess what we get. Why did Wenger end up going stale? Club completely lack ambition and had no one questioning him like Dein did.
People on here we’re sad Edu left. So who’s to blame? The board who gave him millions or both Edu plus Arteta as they were in charge.
Nothing wrong with being critical as long as you are balanced. No difference to getting fed up with people posting positive stuff when we aren’t playing well or praising every signing just because Arteta signed him. That’s not healthy.
Fans leaving early is a good thing if the right questions are asked and addressed.
Do you watch all of an awful film or give up. Did people leave the chat as they had better things to do? Why is the pressure on the fans? Game was over by the time they left and players were too busy passing backwards or behind players to even notice. If want the last 10 mins thst cost us the game.
9.) 08 Jan 2025 20:53:01
I was there last night, a fair few left quite early. I have no choice but to leave early (around 85/ 88 depending on what's happening in said minutes) on the night games as i have a train back north that only runs on the hour till 11pm. Before i started taking my son i missed a few staying to clap the team off.
The stadium can be an absolute nightmare to get out of, however that being said its entertainment at the end of the day and if its not entertaining, people are well within their rights to leave when they want, wether that be at half time, full time or somewhere inbetween.
I think one of the main issues with the atmosphere this year is the a mixture of too many tourists getting tickets. And the moving of the Ashburton lads, who really had the Emirates rocking the last two or so seasons.
10.) 08 Jan 2025 21:14:08
Gunner93 - who moved and why? Always interesting to hear stuff like that and from season ticket / ticket holders… hope you are well and hope we start putting in effort and entertainment to make it easier to stay… ?.
11.) 08 Jan 2025 21:33:26
Hello 93 it is a nightmare to get out of unfortunately but if you got a train to catch or traffic to navigate then you got no choice irrespective what's going on in the stadium. My son in law who is a season ticket holder said the same as you about the Ashburton boys.
12.) 08 Jan 2025 21:37:24
The atmosphere has certainly changed among a significant number of fans this season, there have been a tiny minority of negative voices over the past two seasons but that number has dramatically increased this season.
From memory it's been 20 years since we finished in the top 2 in consecutive seasons so as much as I'm disappointed with our current form I think this manager and these players have earned our backing until the end of this season at the very least, we know they are far better than their current performances suggest and I think we are far closer to where we want to be now than we have been for a generation.
13.) 08 Jan 2025 22:23:22
If you get a chance sharpie and sy do read some of my previous posts where I too have been critical of the team and management. But there’s a time in place for everything. Nobody is denying that the squad is not good enough and also fans leaving early to catch a train or get home at a resonable time is expected. The problem which I highlighted was the negativity in the stadium from fans does have an impact on the team. Which you complexly wrote off. I’m glad JG93 mentioned the the Ashburton boys. Not heard much about them. There is something definitely not right at the club and it’s not Arteta and the team. If players decide to leave they won’t be leaving because of other players or the manager. It will be because we are not improving and the fans are turning on them. They are also young and inexperienced so have patience and trust the process.
14.) 08 Jan 2025 22:54:22
Hi G4E
I always read your posts - they are normally a lot shorter and easier to read / digest than mine of late
I do believe a positive crowd shouting their hearts out drives the team on. I believe the manager and the team have a role in that - play with a once of positivity and forward play. Track back when you give sloppy passes away.
So the lack of that must have an impact but again, it’s on the team, manager and club to help that. Crowd leaving 15 mins early was irrelevant as the team had given up before then and looked like they were happy playing out a 0 2 score line.
No intelligent subs or change in tactics from the manager.
No player grabbing game by the neck
No player trying to speed up our attack
So why would they or we expect them to stay to the end.
I don’t believe it had a huge impact on outcome - the managers tactics and poor subs and defensive approach hindered us. Any attempt to blame the fans or to ask them to go above and beyond without demanding a lot more from Arteta and team is not right in my opinion.
Any criticism of King Arteta is frowned upon and a hint that he bottled it is blasphemous. Questions should have been asked every season we aren’t winning something AND competing.
We seem to treat our players while they are brittle sportsman. Yet when you read about top top sports people - they are winners through and through and might be difficult but they are focused on winning.
Yes fan engagement is important but don’t let the players and manager off. The crowd is the 12th man not 1 to 11. The players let themselves down as did Arteta.
15.) 09 Jan 2025 11:59:07
Sy thanks for reading my posts. You will agree that I have too previously asked that we hold the players and arteta accountable. However mid season when we have a weak squad and games ontop of games is the time we should be getting behind the team rather than a mass fall out.
Theres already rumours that of backhanders taken by edu. Ashburton Army being moved out (which i find very bizzare) . We are in a tricky situation and we must be very careful on the next actions we take otherwise it may be 1 step forward and 10 steps backward
Our starting 11 have a very good relationship with Arteta speak very highly of him and his expectations getting rid of him will definetly unsettle and we may see a similar result as united where the new manager no matter how talented will struggle and a massive over haul will be required again.
16.) 09 Jan 2025 16:51:34
Interesting - I read Edu left because Arteta was getting more and more and more power at the club. Feels like aged Wenger Mark II ?
Stubborn, powerful and questionable tactics / addressing issues / results…. Have we not learned?
Hope it not backhanders - hope we learned from GG. Hope it’s not the control piece as hope we learned from the later Wenger years…
Thanks for the reply and makes sense although still feel questions should be asked as we weren’t strong enough for past 3 seasons with added games and less rest… anyway . ?.
07 Jan 2025 22:05:46
Best chance of a trophy was this one
Win 3 more games and it's won.
If we had pulled a goal back we might have had a chance but Newcastle are too tactically clever to throw this away.
Still cannot understand why we can't take the ball forward and beat players and make things happen. Instead we got the pass the ball to death syndrome.
I try to be optimistic but it does my f-----g head in at times.

Absolutely disgusting
wankers.
12 Jan 2025 18:17:36
Tbh Gabi I am at a lost. Sterling looked lively but like you I cannot get my head round what has happened.
Unless there is trouble behind the scenes.
11 Jan 2025 13:05:40
Hello John mate hope everything is good and the weather is not too bad on your manor.
When I been fortunate enough to get tickets last two seasons the atmosphere like you said has been absolutely banging. My son in law and my youngest daughter who have season tickets have both said the atmosphere though still good has not reached the heights of the previous 2 seasons. Fans are a great measuring stick of how the club is performing
Some fans remain positive despite what is going on and that in itself is great but our form/ ta tactics atm the moment is well below what we should be delivering. The slow tempo what we have adopted is tbh painful to watch. We have Ode out and now Saka but we should still be able to perform at a certain level.
I am not Arteta out man yet but if we were to lose tomorrow and lose Wednesday i think the pressure will become very big. We don't want to fall into the Wenger mindsight of top 4 is a trophy and even though you have finished 20 pts winners go and embarrass ourselves by doing a lap of honour.
2 seasons back 8 pts clear and the pressure told. Last season the 2 home losses against West Ham and the Villa proved costly. I was convinced like many other Gooners that this was our season, still could be but we need to find our form very very quickly. because even without Saka we should be winning games.
Arteta has had 5.years and he did have a lot of dross to get rid off first but has spent big money with no trophies to show for it. He has himself bought a few duffs like Tavares/ Lokonga/ Marquinhos so all the transfers have not been a resounding success. Fa Cup win in 2020 apart from Saka was with a completely different side.
Has I already said I am not Arteta out man yet but things need to improve.
We all love Arsenal despite different opinions so let's hope Mikel and the boys turn it around
Take care all.
