Crazy window. At the beginning someone suggested something like 6-8 signings. I said that was too many players in one window. While i still think my point was valid (as i think too much change can bring too much instability) , clearly the club agreed with the other guy (if you're reading this i'm sorry i can't remember your name) .
Is Hincapie seen as primarily a center back or full back? I wonder if he can be the overlapping full back to complete our new left hand side. That's the last kind of profile this squad lacks in my opinion, and it will maximise the impact Eze will have.
{Ed077's Note - CB/LB (kind of like Calafiori, Timber, White, Tomi, etc....)

Don't forget Mosquera Ed :)
{Ed077's Note - The list just never ends for Arsenal eh ??

It was me lol.

Wasn't Tomi primarily an RB?

Hi Ed, what's the situation of Stephan El Shaarawy? I think he'd suit our style. He'd bring some spark to our left wing if he can stay injury-free this season.
{Ed002's Note - Very unlikely he will move this summer, although Arsenal have previously shown interest.}
1.) Okay thanks Ed, I'm really struggling to see who we could sign but luckily we'll find out soon.

ed what's the situation with matthias ginter? I expected him to move last summer and we were definitely interested. are we still interested?
{Ed002's Note - Freiburg will look to hold on to Matthias Ginter until the summer when Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich will likely push for the defender.}
31 Jul 2013 14:53:02
ed do you know of any interest in mccarthy or ginter? heard some rumours today. {Ed027's Note - {Ed027's Note - i hear we're looking at Mathias Ginter guys, young Cb from Freiburg, been in talks for a while, Mccarthy is not a target as such, maybe an alternative in the future, if targets fail, we've looked at him}

i must say when I first heard about these suarez rumours I thought no way but now cautiously optimistic. honestly he'd be a perfect fit and I used to think we should sign him but in a million years we won't. now it seems more likely though.
pretty confident 40m would do the trick. liverpool seem to demand more but they're not going to get much more. and the other option for them is to keep him. and keeping a player with suarez's mentality against his own will is, well, a frightening thought!
some are concerned about this "baggage" he has. i'm not. the most concerning part is his ban, but if he signs a 4-5 year contract that ban is really meaningless. imo his reputation doesn't work completely against him. now every defender knows he's not just a fantastic dribbler, a goal scorer and a provider, but he bites too! he makes defender's feel uneasy I can see him starting as a striker, but also as a "winger" (winger like walcott, poldi, ramsey or santi meaning he'll play more centrally than wide) alongside giroud.
1.) To be honest I'm feeling this one aswell just hope it don't go right to the wire and we drop out again last minute
2.) Still think Arsenal will end up with Higuain. This Suarez business is just some sort of mind games with Real Madrid. Selling Higuan to Arsenal will fund Real Madrid's move for Suarez but Arsenal won't pay over the odds for Higuain.
3.) Not really a rumour, but I like this post
4.) I think Wenger and the fans would be equally happy with either. No mind games, Higuain at one price, Suarez (or Rooney) at another. Any of these will do the job!
5.) Suarez interest is very real indeed. Wenger will not pay the asking price for higuain when he can get suarez for a couple million more, anmd who is a much better player in my opinion.
6.) Higuain has had second thoughts about moving to Arsenal. Personally, I don't want Suarez at the gunners. He is obnoxious and a cheat. Don't forget the whole transfer might cost us £70 million
7.) Im not concerned about his baggage either. he's a great player and it outweighs the what-ifs.
Honestly, I prefer Higuain. But i'm happy with either. Both awesome players and will be crucial in the seasons to come.

I would be happy with higuain at £23m however I would not like to see us pay much more for him seeing as he is second choice behind benzima at madrid and they play one up top usually so he is a great second choice striker for them. However I would prefer to have arguably the best striker in the premier league at the moment for an extra £17m, if we got him with the service our midfield can provide he will have a field day for us.
9.) Since when will liverpool become a feeder club to the biggest feeder club in the league? suarez will move to madrid or stay at lfc. there's an outside chance of bayern or psg. not arsenel!

Congratulations to Spurs for your 3rd point in 2026. I have to admit they and Liverpool are more entertaining than us as neither of them can defend. Spurs' goal was comedy football at its finest.
If Spurs get relegated that would be very funny. However I would terribly miss them, so would hope for a swift promotion.

In today's Premier League set pieces are extremely important. While we Arsenal fans certainly have seen our team benefit from that, do we really want to see this type of football in the future?
For me the answer is no. I want to see open play being the more important source of goals. So how do we change that?
At this point we need to not look just at Arsenal but the league as a whole. We're not the only team emphasizing set pieces. I think the league needs to change first so that the football can get better.
I feel like the refereeing has a big impact on the kind of football we're seeing. Corners are just ridiculous because of the amount of wrestling that is allowed. Rice could have conceded a penalty for handball last night, but frankly the kind of hold he had on Hato should already have been enough to warrant one. But it has become standard to allow that kind of play sadly.
If you allow players to wrestle each other to the ground and you have a good corner taker who can consistently deliver the ball in a dangerous area, then of course you have a massive weapon at your disposal. But if you stop allowing players to hold each other, maybe it decreases the chaos and thus makes defending easier. Meaning teams have to start figuring how to actually play again.
The referees on the pitch become more clueless by the day. They are afraid to whistle because they fear they get the decision wrong. But not whistling is a decision in itself. VAR only intervenes if the mistake is clear and obvious (and even then they might miss it or get the decision wrong) . I for one can't believe that the financially biggest national league has one of the worst sets of referees. It's hurting the final product a lot more than is being talked about, at least in my opinion.

Hi Ice, mate. I totally agree with you on the set pieces. I just held back on raising it because this year (after 3 consecutive runners up) we have to win the league, however it comes. We have an overreliance on set pieces, and it feels like we play for them and sacrifice fluidity, so it will get boring in a year or two.
During Wenger days we played beautiful football but could not defend and get results, and we used to cry when teams like Stoke bullied us with our current tactics. So I will enjoy the results this season and hopefully celebrate the championship, and worry about the tactics for next season.
2.) 02 Mar 2026 12:40:38
I've been scrolling round the other sites and the consensus is the same Ice.
Not only is it ridiculous but the keepers are so boxed in, especially shorter keepers like Raya. I think he has been a warrior this season. if this sort of bundling was in open play it would be penalised.
I know we have become experts at set pieces but surely this doesn't have to mean it always ends up with practically the whole of both teams in the box?
Perhaps its time to move on from this tactic and dream up something equally as successful to catch other teams on the hop?
3.) 02 Mar 2026 14:27:42
Good points from both of you. I will certainly enjoy it immensely if we win the league, no matter the style. But, at the same time, I hope that in the future more is done to de-emphasize set pieces in general.
I don't blame us for exploiting tactics that the referees allow. They just need to stop allowing that and maybe then the league as a whole will change to a more entertaining one.

Doctor Tottenham has a cure for everything it seems. The whole team but especially Eze and Gyökeres will surely feel a lot better after tonight. Need to keep a winning form going now.

Nice to hear the Spuds manager says we're the best team in the world. ????? Love it. ❤️?
19 Feb 2026 08:51:16
This team looked afraid last night. They have struggled to get over the finishing line for several seasons now. There's an issue that they need to resolve, and to resolve that they need to first acknowledge that.
Everyone has been talking how the title is ours to lose. But it's not like that anymore. We may have the best team in the league on paper but there's a mental hurdle that currently seems to equalize things between us and City.
I believe in this team. We have plenty of leaders in the playing squad. But the main thing is the manager and how he deals with this. If he solves this he will be remembered as a success, and if not he'll be the ultimate nearly man.
18 Jan 2026 18:58:00
Every game is worth the same amount of points regardless of how our title rivals play at the same time. In my view every time we win we have "taken our opportunity" and every time we don't win there's a degree of disappointment involved. So looking at the table it is us who have taken the most of their opportunities and it is our rivals who should be more disappointed with their position and results.
There will be disappointments over the course of a 38 game season for sure. But in the end what matters is the points total and we're currently well on our way to beating everyone else. It's still not certain of course and the gap could always be bigger but that's done now. The team will focus on the next opportunity because that's the only thing they can control.
1.) 18 Jan 2026 22:31:02
Agreed Iceman - others falling is a huge benefit. We need to control what we control - our performances, tactics and intensity. I’d say all 3 need a review to stay in control and control of our own destiny.
Happy with our standings
Not thrilled with our dogged performances and inability to turn our attacking options into more points. Great individuals continually look to improve and find margins. Arteta must do that.

I think the dutch market has a lot of value in it. The level is probably better than most people realize, the big clubs aren't as able (or perhaps willing) to hold onto their best players and i think the dutch football philosophy in general suits our style very well. So my pick for midfield would be Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord. Add in Ollie Watkins and we're all set imo. I see Jesus as a utility forward who can cover both wings and striker.
01 Mar 2024 15:36:08
I think he has great potential but he needs lots of coaching to maximise it. I'd agree he's not needed here because of Martinelli.
04 May 2018 07:46:32
Why would we give the new manager/ head coach any transfer budget at all given the appointment of SM and RS?
As for the candidates who see the lack of champions league football next season as a problem, i think it's better to overlook those coaches anyway. I'd rather like a coach who plans for long term instead of one season success.
As for the salary, i don't know of any details but would imagine it's just natural the new guy wouldn't earn quite as much as Wenger since he wouldn't have as many responsibilities as Wenger had (like transfers for example) . I'm sure we can still offer competitive wages.
I would also like to point out one reason why i think we will be an attractive option for any coach, and that is the way the club has handled Wenger. We are known as a club with patience and the board won't make any rash decisions based on short term results. I personally would like to see the new coach get at least two seasons time to improve our performances (unless the first season is a total disaster) .
Okay thanks Ed, I'm really struggling to see who we could sign but luckily we'll find out soon.

Dublin, I wasn't having a dig at you. Every non-Arsenal fan seems to be saying that we are only winning because we cheat and score from corners, so I figured I'll just leave a quick joke about that. I have a feeling it wasn't all that funny.
13 Mar 2026 11:54:40
Saka delivers better corners but Madueke dives better. Tough choice.
12 Mar 2026 07:19:16
Set piece goals can vary in quality too. Many of them don't look good because of the "meat wall", but our first against Chelsea was fantastic.
Most of the teams are now very capable, at least physically, in addition to being tactically good enough to nullify their opponent's biggest threats.
If there was a shift towards outplaying the opposition, the quality might go up. As it stands, teams don't seem to think they would be very successful using such tactics.
I also think the way games are being refereed is having an impact, as written previously.
05 Mar 2026 15:56:21
Honestly, there was nothing wrong with how we won yesterday. We scored the goal and then defended comfortably. It's up to Brighton to make it a contest again, and they didn't manage it this time. Same as Chelsea in the Carabao Cup 2nd leg.
Hurzeler can bicker as much as he wants (and he seems to like doing that more than most managers) , but we played well within the rules.
If you want more entertainment, then maybe also have a look at all the pro fouls Brighton committed every time we countered them.
