Evening all Ed's and fellow gunners, hope all's well. was just reading an article. (don't know if there's real truth in it) . stating that we are considering taking Leroy sané from Bayern when he's contract expires making the 28 year old winger a free transfer. (really hefty wages though, reportedly on £320grand a week at Bayern) . I personally feel if Arteta can get the best out of him, he'd be a solid addition to our squad. just wondered what you guys may think. if he's worth a go with the gunners.? . ?⚪️❤️.

Newcastle has a declared interest. Liverpool were, and may still be, keen to take him as a Salah replacement. I would not rule out Arsenal taking him, as they do have interest. Free agent in the summer, but huge wage demands.}

Hi bill hope alls well, thought we played a decent game tonight and it’s always nice to keep that lot up the road in the massive shadow. but watching the match thinking. we still definitely need some attacking reinforcements and we would have been out of sight. I still think there’s so much more to come from Mikel and the boys. we just got to get our mojo back and go on a run and try to crank up the pressure on Liverpool as much as we can. hopefully tonight’s result can kick start the rest of our season. in Mikel and the boys i still trust. where we are now compared to the real mess we were in before Mikel took over is something else. we have gone so close to winning the prem the last two seasons and are still right in this race. let’s just hope that someone gets hold of stan and josh gives there heads a good wobble so as too open thier eyes and do what’s required on the transfer front this window… fingers crossed mate. ? Evening all. what the heck is going on at our beloved arsenal.? . something tells me we need a striker (Jesus injured) . and at the moment havertz couldn't even hit a cows arse with a banjo. I know neither of those two are out and out strikers anyway. which leads to the question. who actually is our striker and is he any good.? . ?.

Hi Gabi rightly or wrongly I think the plan has been not to play with an out and out striker but to have team players who put in a team effort all over the pitch, again rightly or wrongly I think inheriting Pea and Ozil and their persivied laziness has lead Arteta down this path.
Just my take of course.

Just looked on the official arsenal website. the first team list has goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders listed all as should be. then it gets a little confusing because it doesn’t list wingers or strikers it lists forwards = the two gabi’s, Leo, havertz, saka and sterling. 6 forwards and not one of them is an out and striker. quite worrying really when you think about it. we are a massive club that wants to go places. most teams that do exceptionally well in there leagues and European football have at least one top top striker and a fairly decent back up option. my maths ain’t the best but I do know 1+1 =2 and we haven’t even got 1 so how are we supposed to go and get trophies on a consistent basis when we just haven’t got the firepower. it’s a conundrum only the club/ board can physically sort out. as fans we worked the conundrum out already we’ve all been saying it for a while now. a blind man and his dog have been saying it…we need strikers. it reminds me of the time when mr arsene Wenger was the gaffer and we were all crying out for the missing piece of the jigsaw. which at the time was a defensive midfielder. and it just never happened. well my friends let’s just hope that something can get sorted in this window. because if it doesn’t (& this only my humble opinion) . we won’t win anything this season. and it hurts. because there’s so much promise and potential to the squad we have. and with a few new faces and a couple of little changes here and there we could really be up and running again. we need to react before it’s another season trophy less. We weren't when he was with us and he didn't blend with Barcelona or Chelsea after he left us. I see the issues both side's of the debate point out for a striker but I do believe its important not to do anything knee jerk and bringing in the wrong striker/ personality for us, hence our not signing Toney in my opinion.

Evening all Ed's and fellow gunners. that was a tough one to watch. strong enough starting eleven but Newcastle did a real job on us. there just didn't seem to be any buzz about us tonight. shame but sometimes it's just the way the cookie crumbles. as soon as Newcastle took isak and Gordon off and went full on defensive mode, we never really looked like breaking them down. and imagine isak on the end off the three decent headed chances we had and the Martinelli chance when clean through. we need a proper striker and we need one this window. and Declan rice is a beast of a player and always try's to do his best, but we signed him from West Ham because he is one of the best holding midfielders in world football and Arteta is trying to mould him into the ultimate box to box midfielder, personally I'd like to see him back in the number six position where he is at his absolute best, breaking down the opposition's attack and getting us on the front foot. sometimes you just got to put the round pegs in the round holes and the square ones in the square holes to make things work again. and why oh why do we keep passing sideways and backwards when we have the chance to break quickly, the last two seasons we have played some real great front foot football, I mean season before last was real full throttle swashbuckling football, some of the most exciting we have seen from the Arsenal in many years. I know we have had our fair share of problems this season, but we're not the only ones. sorry about the rambling message maybe it's because of the loss we have just suffered. {Ed025's Note - i wish i could say different Gabi i really do, too much tippy tappy passing for my liking im afraid mate and im at the stage where i feel Mikel has run his race, i really fancied you to be top dogs this season but you flatter to deceive and the lack of a real goal scorer (like Isaac) has been a problem for a good while now and has never been addressed, time to rip it up and start again imo because you have too many average players who have a mentality problem that true winners dont, harsh i know and i take no gratification in saying that, best of luck my friend and i hope you win something very soon..

I too think we need a striker as you can read about below. In this particular game i think the problem was conceding two goals against a Newcastle side who seem to relish protecting a lead. That being said had we had a clinical striker to put one of our early chances away the story might have been different. What is clear we struggle to score when the opponent goes defensive.

Evening all Ed's and fellow gunners hope all is well. not the result we wanted yesterday. But the league table still says Liverpool only six points ahead all be it with a game in hand. but they haven't played it yet and they haven't won it yet either. we got spuds next at home in the league Liverpool have forest away I think, if we take care of the spuds and Liverpool slip up at forest. (who are no pushovers at the moment) . then it's only 3point lead and game in hand. which is still advantage Liverpool for now. still lots of twists and turns for all to see as the season fully unfolds in the business end. just trying to put some perspective on this title race. we haven't had the best 1st half of the season but also not the worst. so far we have had some real rough luck regarding injuries, some rough to take red cards and suspensions, some dodgy refereeing decisions that haven't gone our way and some that have. but we are still right in the mix. now it's up to Arteta and the board to make decisions if we are serious about going all the way we definitely need an attacking right forward who can cover the loss of saka and a striker who can find the back of the net on a real regular basis. if we can't get two players, so be it. but we definitely need a striker who can bang them in. this league isn't done and dusted yet. and we really do need to find some form rather quickly. if we find that form and add at least one clinical goal scorer (obviously won't come cheap) . and with us gooners getting right behind Mikel and the boys, all guns blazing. then it's 100% game on. let's go gunners VTH/ NORTH LONDON FOREVER ?⚪️❤️????.

Sign a striker or everybody chipping in with the goals like they did 2 seasons back.

Evening all Ed's and fellow gunners hope all is well, Arsenal 3 v Manchester United 2 1979 fa cup final. I watched a re-run today and for those of us old enough to remember wow, wow, wow. what a game of football. the days when goalkeepers didn't ware gloves, most players didn't ware shin pads, the hair styles were just as crazy as the tackles flying in. and some real magical players on both sides. there was no rolling around on the grass like they had been shot by a snipers bullet no crowding round the ref crying about decisions, no diving, the linesman's flag went up instantly for off sides and guess what there was no shirt pulling or rugby tackling in the box. (penalty area) . because if you did. you'd give away a penalty and probably be off. and the game just had a lovely flow to it. I know things change over time. but what has happened to the beautiful game over the years.? . money, greed, agents, primadona's .? . too many A-holes meddling with what were the basic rules of the game we all love. there's lots to still love about football in todays day and age. but there is also so much wrong with it. players cheating and diving to win decisions, rolling around like they've been shot, crowding around the refs crying like overgrown babies, lines men leaving flags down when players are clearly offside which one day will probably lead to serious injury (during the 2nd phase of play) . cut it out 2nd phase 3rd phase cobblers it's all nonsense we ain't playing American football or basketball. we are talking about good old fashioned football and then there's VAR what a load of tripe that is. 3-5 minutes and still cocking it up. keep goal line technology, let the ref and linesmen do there job. keep a pitch side monitor and if the ref has any doubts about what he may think is a real area of concern let him go check the monitor. its got to be quicker than 3 or 4 helmet heads who haven't got a clue and can't even draw a straight line with a ruler trying to work it out. so for any off you that remember the 79 cup final I salute you. ?. & for any off you too young to remember. I salute you too. ?. but just take a little bit of time out to watch it. then let me know what you thought. proper football. It was a great game - I was young but a great game and what a dramatic game. No sideway slow passing for our winner! Better than the Ipswich and West Ham finals ?
VAR is rubbish and I agree about flagging for offside - complete joke. There were bad things in the rules back then and somewhere in the middle is best.
Get rid of VAR and problem gone. If you need 3 minutes and 100 lines to see if off side - then it’s not….

Evening sy very good post mate. I mentioned yesterday about isak and the need to keep him quiet and that he would absolutely run riot in the red and white of the arsenal. your bang on about the balance of the team and wingers with pace who get forward/ not running down blind alleys and cutting back in and making attacks too narrow and easy to defend against. to me tonight’s game and a few others this season there was just no real invention in our play… everything was ever so predictable. few things definitely need sorting out pretty lively.
