Ed 02 are we still interested in Ivan Toney? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Yes. But options are being considered.}

28 Oct 2023 12:40:32
Ed 02 is there any chance you could tell us any cm players Arsenal are looking at ahead of January please? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal looking to any CM in January. I expect a DM to play alongside Rice might happen but priority will remain RW and S I would think.}

1.) 28 Oct 2023 18:11:12
Which dms are we looking at Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I would say Andre Trindade (DM), then Martin Zubimendi (CM/DM) and Douglas Luiz (CM/DM) as a fallback - it depends on departures.}

Ed 02 do we stand any chance of signing Milinkovic Savic or will he join Juventus? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Possibly.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (CM/AM/DM) Will be offered a new contract - if he refuses, which he will, they will only then look to sell. Juventus are very keen as they look to replenish their midfied, but Lazio will seek a huge fee which won't suit Juventus, but realistically his value has halved as he will only have 12 months left on his contract by the summer. There was also a discussion with Chelsea but they have other targets. Arenal offer an option but he would likely be an alternative to Declan Rice. West Ham and Newcastle will offer less tempting solutions to the player.

1.) 10 Mar 2023 11:06:46
Hi Ed,

Is Rice our priority transfer for that position and do you know if he would be open to the move?

It seems like he was always either City or Chelsea bound.

Thanks as always and hope you’re all well.

{Ed002's Note - Rice would be the priority with Zubimendi an option.

Declan Rice (DM) There may remain interest from Manchester United but they signed Casemiro so their need is less now. The interest of Manchester City went with the signing of Kalvin Phillips although I would not totally discount them. Chelsea lost out on their preferred target last summer and the club is supportive of looking again to have Declan Rice return, something that I understand may be acceptable to the player, but I also understand they have a preferred choice. If Arsenal were to move Xhaka and Elneny on then they would have space in the squad, but they have have a preferred target. A wildcard would be Bayern Munich. West Ham will resist a move, but if the player were to push for it they would have to reconsider that position. The player has rejected offers to sign a new contract so the reality will bite this summer and West Ham have been looking at potential replacements. Will be significantly expensive.}

14 Jan 2023 21:25:11
Hello Ed 02 it's been a disappointing day for us Arsenal fans. Is there any chance you could give us a list of targets please. Thank you.

{Ed002's Note -
Evan Ndicka (CB) His agents are pushing for a pre-contract agreement to sign for Barcelona, Arsenal or Spurs as a Free Agent in the summer. Was expected to leave last summer and was seen as an option for Newcastle and West Ham but stayed to seek a more lucrative move as a free agent. Roma had an intereest in the player and have spoken with the player and informed Eintracht Frankfurt of their interest which would lead to a January transfer at a low fee but the demands of his agent (a €15M signing on fee) ended that. Arsenal are fearful of Saliba or Gabriel will leave hence their interest in him.
Youri Tielemans (CM) right now he will not sign a new contract so will be available in January at a reduced fee. His agent confirmed that there is interest from Real Madrid who are looking for a Luka Modric replacement, interest from Spurs and that he has been approached by a third party representing Newcastle. He is aware that other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Liverpool, have scouted the player but not declared an interest. Interest of the Manchester sides has probably gone as both are looking at other midfield options but they will be back if they cannot get their first choice players - and MU are struggling. Arsenal and Juventus provide wildcard options and Arsenal are very keen whilst Juventus are still needing significant midfield changes are looking to preferred options. I suspect that Real Madrid will shift their interest leaving Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal to work on a transfer. Klopp has said that Liverpool are not looking for a midfielder; oh but they are; no they are not...................}
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (CM) Will be offered a new contract - if he refuses, which he will, they will only then look to sell. Juventus and Newcastle are very keen. There was also a discussion with Chelsea but they have other targets. Arenal may offer an option and will be more attractive than Newcastle.
Mohammed Kudus (AM) Everton were told by Ajax that he was not for sale in the summer but interest may remain. Barcelona may well look to making a bid for the player. Seen as an option to Tielemans by Arsenal. As a wildcard Newcastle could look to partner Almiron with him and use Joelinton further forward.
Wilfried Zaha (LW/RW) Out of contract in the summer. Could be an option for Arsenal
Leandro Trossard (LW/AM) Interest of Manchester United went with the appointment of ten Hag and they have no shortage of players in a similar position. Newcastle are keen to take the player but would need to sell their project to him. Trossard could see Allan Saint-Maximin as a block to first team football. Arsenal are looking to add a player and Trossard is on their list. Whilst the Chelsea coach would like to take Trossard the club have a much preferred player in mind, although signing him will prove difficlt, so they cannot be discounted.
Roma are keen - a wilcard option for Arsenal.
Alex Baena (LW/AM) Recommended to Chelsea by an ex-player although they have preferred options. Scouted by Arsenal after a good start to the season. Whilst on loan at Girona, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nice sent scouts.
Mehdi Taremi (S) Porto rejected an approach from Al-Qatar in the summer. Agent wants the player, who is having a very good season, and has offered him to Arsenal, Milan, Lazio, Chelsea and Crystal Palace - and probably others. May suit Arsenal but Porto may resist a sale.

1.) 15 Jan 2023 11:25:40
Thanks ed I wouldn't mind Zaha maybe could go for him this window in a cut price deal.

2.) 15 Jan 2023 12:17:03
Thanks Ed002, much appreciated :)

3.) 16 Jan 2023 04:25:00
Top man ed002. Good stuff.

4.) 16 Jan 2023 12:43:16
Hi Ed, in this list you hadn't mentioned Raphinha but is he also a possibility? Lots of paper talk about us and him and remembered you said on the Barcelona page that they may be open to offers.

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha (RW/LW) Has struggled to displace Dembele or Ansu Fati but won't be sold in January. Perhaps they will be oipen to offers in the summer.}

5.) 16 Jan 2023 15:17:29
Appreciate it Ed great stuff.

01 Jul 2022 17:18:28
Ed02 are we interested in Arda Gular and Amadou Onana? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Arda Gular cannot move to England at this time. I have explained previously about AO.}

1.) 02 Jul 2022 10:01:50
Morning Ed002.

I just searched the page for Amadou Onana and this is the only post that comes up. Can you share the last info please?

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Amadou Onana (DM) Lille turned down an approach from Roma who are looking to replace Amadou Diawara. His agent has been offering the player around and has certainly approached Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs in London.}

2.) 02 Jul 2022 13:06:02
Thanks Ed ??.

Ed 02 is there any chance you could give us a list of Arsenal targets please? Your the only person on the internet I believe.

{Ed002's Note - I have shared plenty of information already. The key thing now is departures.}

1.) 19 Jun 2022 22:01:36
Ok mate cheers.

11 Jul 2020 09:02:56
Ed02 is there any chance we could get an updated ins and outs list please? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - When time allows.}

19 Oct 2019 09:02:45
Which player made you fall in love with football? Mine was Paul Merson until Dennis Bergkamp came along and he is still the best player I've ever seen.

{Ed047's Note - Pele, he was incredible!

1.) 19 Oct 2019 09:55:36
Charlie George but them Bergkamp just took me to a whole new level, along came Bergy and the phrase "class on grass " was born.

2.) 19 Oct 2019 09:41:59
He was before my time ed.

{Ed047's Note - I guessed so ja54 but he was pretty much the best I’ve ever seen.

3.) 19 Oct 2019 11:22:06
Jim Baxter.

4.) 19 Oct 2019 11:28:06
Thierry Henry.

5.) 19 Oct 2019 11:47:28
I don't remember the 1970 world cup because I wasn't really into football at the time and the first world cup I really got into was 1974 and unfortunately Pele didn't go because he was playing for New York Cosmos by then so pretty much semi retired, Francisco Marino is my lasting memory of the Brazil 74 team :-) as Revelino and Jairzinho were both playing but past their best by then too
Everything I've ever seen of Pele does confirm his status as the very best of the best of all time but I didn't actually ever see him play a live game, although I did actually speak to him during a England v the rest of the world game at Wembley when I was right next too subs and dignitaries, well I say speak to him I shouted out and he acknowledged my existence with a smile and a wave :-) .
I did actually speak to Chippy Brady that day though when I asked him who was playing right back for the rest of the world team and he told me Steve Clarke of Chelsea who was extremely young back then.

6.) 19 Oct 2019 12:44:24
At Arsenal Charlie George was my first hero at the club.

Johan Cruyff - was my first foreign hero.

Diego Maradonna - Best ever player during my lifetime.

G62 - Surprised it was Calum for you?

7.) 19 Oct 2019 12:45:45
Best ever team - Brazil 1970.

8.) 19 Oct 2019 13:15:35
Someone is having a little trouble not getting Calum into every conversation :-) , don't worry RG it's perfectly normal when I first stated dating my missus my friends and family would often ask me " don't you ever think about anyone else these days? " and of course the answer was no ;-) but that's love for you my friend! So I do understand RG I really do, you just enjoy the love you've found and carry on expressing it at every opportunity, it's a beautiful thing you've found, truly beautiful!

12 Oct 2019 09:03:37
Ed 02 is there any players we are looking to buy in January? We seem to lack creativity in the final third now without Ozil. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal looking to add players in January. If Ozil leaves it will only be on loan - when he is sold the club will perhaps look to another. The club spent far more than intended in the summer and have taken a significant risk - along the lines of the risks which have come back to bite a number of Italian sides.}

1.) 12 Oct 2019 09:52:06
Does that mean champions league or bust Ed?

{Ed002's Note - The expectation was that the summer splurge would guarantee, or pretty much guarantee, Champions League football. talking with an ex-Arsenal scout a month or so ago he could not understand why the club spent as much as they did on Pepe.}

2.) 12 Oct 2019 09:52:40
Do we really need anymore players before getting the most out of what we already have?
I think our current squad is way more than good enough to finish above Spurs Chelsea United as it is, what's the point of spending more money if your not already getting the most our of what you already have?
I know fans like new players arriving but I'd have thought it's far more important to use what we have to its full potential rather than spending for spending sake.

3.) 12 Oct 2019 10:08:50
I agree gunner I’m not sure emery has decided his first 11 yet.

4.) 12 Oct 2019 10:40:43
I think virtually everyone would agree we already have the tools to the do the job of finishing top 4 Ja mate, once that's achieved then it's time to start thinking of how to improve and actually start looking at City and Liverpool.
We have all the ingredients and our chef has 30 games to prove he's capable producing a dish worthy of the ingredients, if not, in the words of Masterchef " sorry Mr Emery your time at Arsenal is over and you won't be coming on our journey with us "

5.) 12 Oct 2019 10:53:12
Totally agree G62. We won't know how our team is really looking till December I don't think, but still, come May, the club will either be looking pretty, or looking for a new manager.

I'm enjoying this season so far, and I'll stay hopeful that we can have some success before it finishes, and have some memorable performances to look back on!

6.) 12 Oct 2019 11:41:45
I'm extremely happy to let the season ride out Ned and if we finish top 4 it would be strange to part company with the manager that got us there, be anyone fan of Emery or not he should most definitely keep his job if he makes top 4 and equally he should most definitely lose his job if he should we fail to make top 4, because let's face it if not now with this United Chelsea Spurs when?
I'm most definitely not enjoying our performances against premier league opposition Ned mate, I think we've berm awful to watch and being totally overrun by this Watford side was extremely difficult viewing for me mate but to each his or her own and it's most definitely not for me to tell other people what they do or don't enjoy,
I am also really struggling with having to watch us go out each week in my opinion a man down before we even start while Torreira and others sit and watch but it's not all about what I enjoy or not that matters to Arsenal football club but top 4 is and if we all agree that is the line that decides Emerys future them I think we've all found common ground be us fans or not fans of our current manager.

7.) 12 Oct 2019 11:02:34
Ed, difficult to argue with the question of the vast amounts spent on Pepe with limited spent in CDM and CB or just keep some money in the bank for the future.

We’ve got a great squad - just needs organising properly. should be top 3 with that squad.

8.) 12 Oct 2019 14:57:48
I can’t see any January signings as we appear to have a well balanced squad and we have Saliba arriving next season.
As for Emery, the fans must be patient as he oversees integrates the signings made and enforcing his methods on the squad. I seem to recall that he signed a 2 year deal with the possibility of a 3rd.
Players often take a season to get used to the pace and physicality of the PL.
Last season we finished a place off a top four finish and we are currently in 3rd spot, having only lost a single league and cup match, against unbeaten CL winners Liverpool.
I had a feeling that fickle fans having turned against Wenger could easily do the same to Emery. Personally I am happy with him.

{Ed047's Note - I assume you’re ignoring the fact you also turned against Wenger. 🤷‍♂️

9.) 12 Oct 2019 15:28:14
And there is the thing, no one has the right to tell someone that is perfectly happy with Emery they are not allowed to be so and equally no one has the right to tell those who are totally unhappy with Emery that they can't feel that way.
In the main for me watching Emerys Arsenal play isn't very entertaining or enjoyable experience and I spend a lot more time frustrated by what I see than thrilled but one man's meat is most definitely another man's poison.
In the end it will come down to top 4 finish or lack of it whether he's part of our future beyond this season but if the fans and players are still struggling to understand his methods tactics and philosophy come January he might not get that far even because absolutely no way are this pool of current Arsenal players anywhere near as bad as they look in most games right now.

10.) 13 Oct 2019 11:19:39
Arsene’s time was over with us we all agree on that but We all wanted a better and improved option, but what amuses me is that we got someone who’s giving us what mr wenger did, although if wenger was in charge last season I bet he would’ve got us CL football due to the under performing rivals but hay ho emery did wonders in his first season.
Imo top 3 is were we should finish this season and nothing below as we are much better than our rival and better equipped.
The next few matches will tell a lot about our manager I think, because if bottle it again against these teams.

11.) 13 Oct 2019 11:44:06
Agree Moe - anything outside of top 3 is not a successful season.

12.) 14 Oct 2019 11:08:14
For me top 4 is a fair line to draw, yes you could argue we should be 3rd with our squad or argue the other way that 5th and winning the Europa is as good as 4th, both are attempts at adjusting the bar to either make tougher or easier to get over it.
Top 4 Emery gets a 3rd season and anything lower it's absolutely got to be bye di bye.

13.) 15 Oct 2019 16:09:24
I want emery out even if we finish top3 because personally with utd spurs struggling, it’s a bit of a free ride for him, he isn’t good enough for arsenal, that the way I think I’m sure the regular moaning will have a go.

29 Jul 2019 19:23:40
Ed02 despite saying that we aren't getting Pépé I remember you was the first person to mention we are interested.

{Ed002's Note - At that time nobody realised Arsenal would start spending money they have not yet earned.}

1.) 29 Jul 2019 20:15:36
Exactly Ed. I just saw a few people said you wer wrong but know one could predict that we would start spending next seasons money.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, a number oif people have pointed out that I have been wrong. It results in less shared.}

2.) 29 Jul 2019 20:44:29
If you call something wrong and people get excited about it then it only goes to show how little you get wrong in general.
No one takes any notice of sky talk rubbish or any of the papers because they are almost always wrong about everything they report without exemption.
Ormstein doesn't always get it right, I remember a few seasons back people on social media were really excited and celebrating Ormstein getting something wrong, sad but in a weird way it's a compliment.

3.) 29 Jul 2019 20:48:31
That’s a shame Ed. I for one really appreciate your work on this site.

{Ed002's Note - I tried to explain things as they were but the abuse easily comes. So I have to perhaps say less going forward.}

4.) 29 Jul 2019 21:46:41
I've been saying we'd sign both Zaha and Tierney all summer, if I'm proved wrong then it just goes to show there really is a first time for everything :-)

5.) 29 Jul 2019 22:36:56
Sorry to hear that Ed. Its a shame a minority have to spoil it for everyone else. Your insight is well appreciated here.
It was Ornstein himself that first reported the 45m budget and most people reckon he is mr. reliable.

6.) 29 Jul 2019 23:27:17
Don’t go all Aristotle on us Ed - we need you.

7.) 29 Jul 2019 22:14:32
Ed, please don’t devalue the site by not posting what you know. You have to be prepared to be wrong to be right. Everyone appreciates your input also no with th3 other Eds. Postings generate interest and chatter. To be fair, we can all give it out and a little stick shouldn’t detract from all the appreciation others have. I won’t suck up as that’s not right but let’s not have the minority ruin a good thing. Too many people have invested and are vested in the site.

I actually found it really interesting as to why you were wrong as I learned more about the club strategy from that. I got thinking about bloody Leeds spending UEFA money before they earned it but then I thought - how clever as Chelsea can’t spend this year which just leaves us With a monopoly on players wanting to play in a London. that with spreading payments over a few seasons mean we can compete more this window which I like.

So - thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

8.) 30 Jul 2019 09:27:59
Fair point Paddy, humans do tend to be fallible, i'm ever so human myself :-)
