Report that Real want £36m for Ceballos, should we sign him?
Interesting report we are interested in Denzel Dumfries at RB.
1.) 15 Mar 2020 18:24:30
Not for me mate. Not a game changer, look at the impact Fernandes has had on Man Utd. I'd rather we return him and look elsewhere personally.
{Ed002's Note - Ceballos may well not be interested without some assurances - but there is nobody else showing an interest.}
2.) 16 Mar 2020 11:22:35
Hi Ed, does Arteta have the final on transfers or does he take what he’s given? Also does he himself create a shortlist of players he wants or is the list created by those above and given to him?
{Ed002's Note - Neither, you have gone for two extremes. Players are identified by the scouting system and the enormous number of otherwise unemployable people in the ridiculous structure.}
3.) 17 Mar 2020 17:47:26
Thanks ed.
4.) 18 Mar 2020 02:20:27
Clearly Cellabos is a talented player but somethings not quite right for him at arsenal. Maybe it’s because he apparently wants to leave so he’s working hard to stay in the team, but where’s the enjoyment flair gone? A player like Partey would be better use of our funds I think and we have a lot of talented youth players that can fill in for Ozil. Not linked but I’d love to see Isco in the prem.
Penny for your thoughts Ed?
{Ed001's Note - neither Isco nor Ceballos are right for the Prem imo. Ceballos only bothers when he feels like it and Isco is the same.}
5.) 19 Mar 2020 08:18:11
A bit light weight to be Vieira or Petit while likes too many
touches to be a creator of chances. Reminds me of a number of Arsenal midfielders where we would end up playing 3 in the middle and none specialist at anything
Huge gamble at 36m that makes no sense to me.
6.) 19 Mar 2020 21:19:32
I think he is the best of our “creative†ball carrying midfielders, but then again maybe that’s not saying much. Would still prefer him to stay and let pretty much every other of our so called midfielders go. The main issue with Ceballos is he plays alongside other players who are the same. I would like to see him partner a proper defensive midfielder and then see how he plays.

I read a report that Arteta intends overhauling the squad, which clearly makes complete sense, as the current squad has failed over the past few seasons, including the latter seasons under Wenger.
Apparently this includes selling Aubameyang, Lacazette and Ozil. Much as I like PEA, he turns 31 this summer and only has a year left on his deal, so cashing in makes financial sense.
Goalkeepers: We have 2 decent keepers.
FB's: We now finally have 4 decent full backs, plus AMN and Saka, that can fill in.
CB's: Reinforcements are clearly needed. Saliba arrives, but he is very young. Luiz is ageing, plus only has a year left. If Holding rediscovers his form after his injury, he should stay. We have to see if Mari is good enough. It's time to move on Sokratis and Mustafi.
DM's: Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi are decent, perhaps one more youngster.
Very short of attacking midfield players of quality.
Forwards:, Martinelli is the future and perhaps Nketiah. PEA, already commented. Lacazette will have a couple of seasons left and is currently off form. Probably time to cash in. Need to sign one top quality goal scorer and perhaps another youngster with potential.
1.) 06 Feb 2020 09:17:46
I just read another report that indicated Arteta wants another CB, a box to box midfield player and a much needed creative midfield player.
The club want these deals concluded early in the window, before the Euro Finals, after-which prices may rise for quality players.
I appreciate that these are only reports and could be nonsense, but much of their contents make sense.
2.) 09 Feb 2020 11:59:48
Rambo as the B2B midfielder - played right he could be our solution and his work rate is spot on, Mikel will stop the flicks plus he has epl experience. Brucie Bonus - he can score unlike the rest of our midfield.
3.) 09 Feb 2020 12:01:42
That could be a midfield 3 of
Granit - Torriera with Rambo Judy in front of them instead of Ozil
That’s a pretty good midfield - put Matteo on loan or on the bench as he’s not good enough or consistent enough yet.
01 Feb 2020 08:20:23
Intelligent window for the club. We have added 2 much needed defenders. Cedric can cover both full back roles, which frees Saka and Maitland-Niles to play further forward. Whilst Marà provides a left sided central defender, adding height as well. As they are both loans with options to make the deals permanent it reduces the risk element.
If they are not good enough then we simply don't take up the options.
We also sent a few youngsters out on loan, hopefully to get much needed playing time.
Tough match away at Burnley tomorrow. We need to start converting draws into wins.
1.) 01 Feb 2020 11:45:06
RG, who's the players that went out on loan and where did they go?
2.) 01 Feb 2020 14:26:34
Emile Smith Rowe (Huddersfield Town, loan)
James Olayinka (Northampton Town, loan)
Ben Sheaf (Doncaster Rovers, loan)
Tyreece John-Jules (Lincoln City, loan)
Konstantinos Mavropanos (Nurnberg, loan)
Deyan Iliev (Jagiellonia Bialystok, loan)
3.) 01 Feb 2020 14:37:49
Malaga; off the top of my head, in this window.
Mavropanos - FC Nurnberg
Iliev - Jagiellonia
John-Jules - Lincoln
Olayinka - Northampton
Smith-Rowe - Huddersfield.
4.) 01 Feb 2020 15:06:58
Thanks lads.
29 Jan 2020 13:50:58
Welcome to new signing Pablo MarÃ. Now for Cédric Soares.
28 Jan 2020 13:46:52
Just read a report that we are after Southampton RB Cedric Soares. I like him as a player.
1.) 28 Jan 2020 18:14:25
Interested in opinions in respect of Cédric, as he is a RB I really like, yet Southampton allowed him to go on loan, with a view to a permanent transfer and I wondered why?
{Ed001's Note - he lost his way after a move he wanted to make fell through. His head hasn't been right since and he has struggled for form for the last season or two.}
2.) 28 Jan 2020 18:25:14
Thanks Ed - perhaps a love to Arsenal might motivate him. I just find it odd that Southampton appear to prefer Walker-Peters to Cédric.
I have a feeling that Arteta doesn’t rate AMN at RB, so these rumours make sense.
{Ed001's Note - I think the odder thing is that anyone would prefer Aurier at right-back to Walker-Peters.}
3.) 28 Jan 2020 18:42:43
True Ed, wonder why they sold Trippier, who is a decent RB.
{Ed001's Note - because he was not playing well and wanted to go.}

Football is currently trying to work out what to do. However, apparently the current situation could easily go on for 12 to 18 months, before a vaccine may emerge.
The implications are huge. Yesterday, as there is no football being played, I unsubscribed to BT Sport and I am considering doing the same with Sky Sports.
Of course people's health is paramount.
Keep safe and well.
1.) 17 Mar 2020 08:06:43
You too RG mate, it makes sense that if football is your only reason for subscribing to cancel.
I'm genuinely think whenever life after the virus will be very different to life before it.
Habits will change and how people spend thier time and money and sense of perspective will change too.
I think we will all be prepared to go without stuff we can easily live without to support and fund our fantastic health service Doctors Nurses Carers properly again.
2.) 17 Mar 2020 10:05:39
Thank you G62 - I agree.
My 80 year old Father-in-law is isolated at home in Milan &! things are truly bad there.
Football will no doubt suffer financial hardship and perhaps it will end the absurd amounts players are paid at the top level and not before time.
Keep well.
3.) 17 Mar 2020 11:08:13
Agree RG mate, I think we will come out of this with very a different way of seeing things and people won't just realise what really matters to them most but also how unimportant other things really were.
With virtually everyone one on the planets life's changing so dramatically so quickly and for who knows how long it's impossible to think it won't bring about a different way of living once we are fortunate enough to get through it.
4.) 17 Mar 2020 12:45:23
Hope your father in law is ok / must be tough with family so far away in a country in such a state - thoughts with you!
5.) 17 Mar 2020 13:34:55
I agree G62.
6.) 17 Mar 2020 15:50:08
Sharpie mate, how's it going?
7.) 17 Mar 2020 21:20:21
Agree RG when to cancel my sky yesterday and told me that I can't as I have a new contract, I told them i'm paying for a service I'm not receiving and they said there's plenty of football on right now, when I flicked over they were showing a man Utd game from 1998 lol, hope your in laws are ok mate.
8.) 17 Mar 2020 21:32:33
Hey Mala, been great, mate. You've been keeping out of trouble, I hope.
9.) 18 Mar 2020 10:38:44
Thanks SY4 and Raver
Raver, I contacted Sky, who were very helpful. As I had an old contract they cancelled Sky Sports HD immediately. I had to give 31 days notice to cancel Cinema and Box Sets. My total saving will be an astonishing £50 per month, plus BT which was £36.50. So a total saving of £86.50 per month, £1038 a year! Of course when football resumes, I will subscribe again, but in the meantime it's a great saving, which I would suggest fellow Gooners and Raver consider. During this crisis it makes sense to save where possible.
Keep safe. Keep well.
12 Mar 2020 07:07:12
As it looks increasingly likely that the season may come to a premature end, how can the situation be resolved?
Clearly there won't be sufficient time, nor a timescale as to when matches could be resumed.
{Ed047's Note - will the Euro’s even go ahead?
1.) 12 Mar 2020 08:07:19
My guess is they will do a playoff between the 2 teams occupying the automatic promotion places and the 2 teams in the bottom 2 premier league places to decide promotion and relegation as soon as sensible to do so and Liverpool will be crowned champions obviously while top 4 and top 7 places will stand as they are.
Given the unprecedented situation I think everyone has to be grown up a and put aside the me me me attitude Just accept there is no easy perfect or painless solution.
11 Mar 2020 05:31:18
With tonight's match postponed due to the virus, it will be interesting to see how the end to the season works out. With other matches being postponed, how will the fixtures be fitted in? All very worrying.
1.) 11 Mar 2020 06:23:38
I'd imagine it has to affect the Brighton game also?
{Ed047's Note - with a number of players and staff now self isolating for 14 days I’m sure it will sparky
2.) 11 Mar 2020 06:37:33
Lol Ed surely and games after the 14 day period is up because of the lack of training Arsenal will need to be given time to regain their fitness?
But the health minister has the virus and had meetings last week and yet the government will still all meet for today’s budget Hmmmmmm interesting.
{Ed047's Note - yes mate I thought that myself, it’s all going to get messy, that’s a fact.
Did you see the guy on TV yesterday who said they were no longer going to shake hands then he promptly shook the guy stood next to him hand! 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
3.) 11 Mar 2020 07:56:15
China seems to be winning the war on the virus now but only after 3 months and some very drastic measures, Italy are now taking about calling the season over as it stands and I think we might well have to do the same here too.
It's looking like June at the earliest before things start returning to normal.
Lives are definitely more important that football and it really is a case of pulling together and doing whatever it takes to minimise the loss of life and suffering to its lowest possible rate.
{Ed047's Note - 100% 62, follow the guide lines and don’t start to panic. I’ve just lost my trip to Barcelona for their game against Leganes but they’re doing what they need too.
4.) 11 Mar 2020 08:22:29
Propaganda in China I think - they tried to hush the thing up in the first place.
5.) 11 Mar 2020 10:49:04
If Arsenal players met with the owner "last month", that means at least 11 days ago. The game is not for 3 more days. That makes it 14 days exactly, which is the incubation period in 99% of cases. Chances are the game will not be affected.
6.) 11 Mar 2020 09:12:11
Absolutely Ed047 mate, it's going to impact everyone everywhere to some degree be it holidays finances and or simply day to day life but if that's the worst way in which we are affected then we've all got off lucky. In the grand scheme of things there will be other holidays events and chances to earn money and if we do the right thing now all the more people get to share those future chances.
{Ed047's Note - yes mate spot on. ðŸ‘ðŸ¼
07 Mar 2020 17:31:30
Clean sheets are vital. 3 valuable points. Bring on City!
1.) 07 Mar 2020 18:42:59
Will need to be a lot lot better than today not to get absolutely torn to shreds on Wednesday night, getting anything at City would be unbelievable and getting the 3pts we need would have even the most sceptical re-evaluating the situation.
Let's talk after Wednesdays final whistle.
2.) 07 Mar 2020 19:36:26
M City will Burt is if we give them that much freedom.
3.) 07 Mar 2020 20:27:08
Hopefully arteta knows pep too well and figure out how to stop city.
4.) 08 Mar 2020 07:30:42
In all seriousness I don’t expect us to get anything from the City game. However, a win away to Brighton at the weekend is a must.
06 Mar 2020 06:40:20
Should we try to sign Ceballos on a permanent deal?
1.) 06 Mar 2020 09:40:55
Weirdly under Emery, despite him playing all the time, he looked ineffectual at best. Under Arteta despite barely playing he's looked twice as good. It's probably just the team but still.
That said I think he wants to get as far away from Arsenal as possible, we are simply not an attractive proposition at the moment.
2.) 06 Mar 2020 23:43:45
No - not for me. Just don’t think he’s good enough. We’ve compromised defence and centre midfield for two long. You highlighted two great sides from the past. Our midfield ( Matteo, Torriera and Xhaka ) or central defenders ( Mustafi, Luiz, Papa ) could even clean their boots. Get those spots right - Petit, Vieira, Silva, Cesc type quality. ,
3.) 07 Mar 2020 10:57:28
I think if he wanted to stay, then maybe yes. The injury hasn’t helped, but at times he has looked the best out of the ball playing midfielders. I agree with SY4 though, in that we do need to re-build the defensive core. However in midfield I believe we also need to keep the balance between players who protect and players who get the ball to the forwards. Vieira and Petit have been mentioned as the yardstick for midfield, and for me part of our issue is that all our players are the same style. So Ceballos is the same sort of player as Xhaka and Geuendozi. I would love to see Ceballos paired alongside a Kongdodbia type of midfielder, and if so I think you would see a major improvement. For me Cesc played his best football for us when he was paired with the incredibly underrated Gilberto, which again showed that the sum of having complementary styles is stronger than two individual good players. So for me, I would rather keep Ceballos and sacrifice Xhaka.
27 Feb 2020 07:54:08
I hope that’s correct and Saka signs a long term deal. What a talent. I would like to see a few of our youngsters sign long term deals: Saka, Martinelli and Guendouzi for sure. I am intrigued to see how others develop: Saliba, Nketiah, Nelson, Smith-Rowe and John Jules.
In addition we have some superb talented players in their early twenties: Tierney, Holding and Pepe.
26 Feb 2020 05:33:05
The 2 vital signings are news deals for Aubameyang and Saka.
Since Arteta arrived and has started to get the best out of the squad, I see the following for next season:
GK: Leno, Martinez and Macey
RB: Bellerin, Suarez and AMN
LB: Tierney and Kolasinac
CB: Luiz, Mari, Mustafi, Holding and Saliba
DM: Xhaka, Torreira, Guendouzi
Wide: Pepe, Saka, Nelson
AM: Ozil, Willock
A:Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah and Martinelli
I expect Ceballos to leave.
The areas that need signings are wide and attacking/ creative midfield. So, assuming we retain the above players, I expect 2 or 3 signings, although there may be a sale or two.
06 Feb 2020 09:17:46

15 Mar 2020 05:40:35
People of course want different outcomes for a variety of reasons. However, this season is highly unlikely to be concluded and I cannot think of a correct way to sort the problem out, other than to accept the fact that most competitions will remain unresolved and next season will in effect have to start as it did this season.
15 Mar 2020 05:35:08
From the reports I have read I cannot foresee football starting up again for at least 3 to 4 months, possibly longer. The Euros must be in serious doubt.
If this is the case then, as unfair as it seems, the domestic and European competitions will not be concluded and the season 2019-20 will remain unfinished.
Again, as unfair as it may seem, next season will have to be a re-run of 2019-20. You cannot award any trophies for this season unless they have been won. I cannot think of any other way to rectify the problem that is both logical and fair. I am not even certain that next season will start on schedule. In the scheme of things, of course, ending this terrible virus is the main objective.
13 Mar 2020 06:18:31
Wishing Arteta a swift recovery.
Be sensible and keep well Gooners.
