Any truth in our interest in Aaron hickey, ed?

SirWenger

{Ed002's Note - Aaron Hickey (LWB) Last season Celtic were looking to take Hickey back from Hearts with a huge amount of interest being shown by Premier League sides such as Crystal Palace, Southampton, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle by watching him. Eintract Frankfurt, Lazio and Bologna also showed an interest. He opted to a move to Bologna. He is doing well after suffering injury last season and Bologna have no interest in selling - although Lazio remain keen but he is not first choice. Milan have him as one of a couple of options they will look to if they lose Hernandez. Less attractive to English teams now. I am not aware of any approach by Arsenal - and he would not want to be cover.}

1.) 15 May 2022 23:33:17
With the amount of injuries tierny gets, i'm not sure he would be cover XD.

2.) 16 May 2022 11:36:09
Think he can play rb and lb. Imagine he would get loads of game time with the amount of injuries we have at the back.

Hi ed002, do we have any interest in Martinez from inter?

SirWenger

{Ed002's Note - Lautaro Martinez (S) Inter don't want to sell and long-term admirers Barcelona and Manchester City are looking elsewhere although Barcelona would still like to add him in the summer, but significant sales would still be required. Real Madrid are trying to convince Inter to sell and will offer an assortment of players they no longer want in exchange. Atletico Madrid are interested if he becomes available but money would be an issue without a major sale - perhaps Joao Felix. There is support for him from an ex-Chelsea player who was a potential Director of Football at the club but he would be a little down the list of targets Chelsea has as they look to add a second striker. PSG could look to him if they lose Mbappe, which they probably will. Interest of Spurs Spurs and Arsenal will go nowhere as the player would also want Champions League football. Agent has been in London and Madrid talking to Premier League clubs. A move to Spain will be preferred if Inter can be persuaded to sell.}

1.) 31 Mar 2022 07:35:12
Very interesting insight Ed. With Athletico Madrid running into financial issues and Joao Felix being potentially available for sale. Do you see Arsenal being interested in a move like that? The financials involved would be huge. Who has shown interest in Joao?

Thanks as always for the wonderful work ED002. Have a great one!

{Ed002's Note - Joao Felix (AM/F) An approach for him from Barcelona was rejected in the summer although they will return. Manchester City see him and another as a potential Aguero replacement rather than recruiting a Kane or Martinez type striker. Juventus and Inter have enquired after a loan as Atletico need to reduce their wage bill. Barcelona interest will persist.}

Hi ed002, i saw a rumour that we might try resign gnabry. Total fantasy or by some miracle he still yearns to prove himself at arsenal?

SirWenger

{Ed002's Note - Serge Gnabry (RW/LW) Seems to fail to settle at any club and is not open to signing a new contract without a significant increase in salary. Barcelona have him on their list of options. Versatile enough to be considered a Martial replacement at Manchester United and on the list for Liverpool as a potential Salah replacement - but none will want to break the bank for him. Has been offered to Chelsea and PSG by his agent, but wage demands are significant. I am not aware of Arsenal interest but he would be hugely expensive.}

1.) 09 Mar 2022 22:48:58
Thanks ed002.

2.) 15 Mar 2022 06:47:08
A lot of Man United supporters I know would say they that he brings absolutely nothing to the squad.

{Ed014's Note - there’s only about 3 of them that do and one of those is the GK.

04 Jun 2021 06:02:09
Hi ed002, will there perhaps be a sharkopod in the works?

SirWenger

{Ed002's Note - Something like that will happen.}

1.) 04 Jun 2021 10:22:03
Looking forward to it. Just out of interest Ed you ever thought of doing your podcasts onto Spotify?

{Ed002's Note - No. This one will see Sparky respond to a special request and it will focus on his preferred music with the occasional transfer snippet.}

2.) 04 Jun 2021 14:48:42
That’s great. More Northern Soul please!

3.) 05 Jun 2021 03:27:59
Ed, with reports suggesting arsenal have bid 30/ 35 mil for Emi Buendia, does that mean a bid for Odegaard isn’t likely?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think Real Madrid will be selling Odegaard to Arsenal.}

4.) 06 Jun 2021 00:35:13
Sparky the dog right? I always wondered what pricks his ears up. Got a bit of rod on his playlist?

28 Jul 2019 00:46:42
Gonna be a debbie downer here.

Ed001s review of the day says 4 clubs have met Lille's asking price, one presumably Napoli, who Ed002 says have offered them their preferred replacement in the deal.
So it's going to be who Pepe picks, presumably, which very well may not be us!

So my excitement is very much on ice until I see any announcements from the club.

But hey, now we know there's 70m available, how about we buy a goddamn CB?!

SirWenger

1.) 28 Jul 2019 14:57:59
I agree with you, until its announced on the official Arsenal website, it ain't a done deal.

2.) 28 Jul 2019 21:42:09
I'm sure they're working on a cb. Remember not just anyone will do. And if we don't end up with one that's a big blow. But remember we have holding coming back and Chambers at the club again. Obv rather get someone in but maybe they could really step up. Wishful thinking I know.

This Tavares lads a bit worrying. scored, pulled off the worst knee slide of the season, sent two shots into row Z and almost conceded three penalties.
Poor guy then had Bruno intentionally stamp on his ankle for a yellow.
Reckon there's a player there but the complete lack of composure on and off the ball doesn't look great
Saka at lb?

SirWenger

1.) 24 Apr 2022 14:43:37
I can see a future for him, but maybe more as a left winger, not a left back. Doesn’t seem to have a defensive min for the left back position.

2.) 24 Apr 2022 21:56:07
I hope his future is far from Arsenal, one of the worst football players i have ever seen.

{Ed014's Note - seriously what do you really think of him? ?

3.) 25 Apr 2022 10:05:17
And that’s coming from a team that plays Xhaka, blimey he must be bad!

4.) 25 Apr 2022 14:42:33
Epping I don’t know what games you’ve watched this season

Granit has been outstanding.

5.) 25 Apr 2022 20:39:25
Yeah he has been better Mal, but hardly outstanding, and from an extremely low base. Even this season, for a main CM, how many goals has he contributed; one, making it 10 in 186 performances since he joined us in 2016. Compare that to say a Ward-Prowse, who I would say plays a similar role for Southampton, except he bothers to track back and tackle. Since 2016, he has played a similar number of games for the mighty Saints, as Xhaka for us, and yet despite playing for a lesser team, has managed to score 36 league goals over the same period, including 9 this season so far. To me this shows there is much better out there. So as the saying goes, one swallow does not make a summer. Yes Xhaka is better, but it doesn’t make up for the total garbage he has delivered in all the previous seasons. However, hopefully this form will finally ensure we flog him in the summer, and if his departing gift is to help us back to the CL, then I might slightly forgive.

6.) 26 Apr 2022 06:43:42
I couldn’t agree more Epping. Xhaka has been better this half of the season, but that’s it, and, as you say, his improvement has been from awful to occassionaly adequate.
I’d keep Mo ahead of Granit everyday.

7.) 26 Apr 2022 14:34:58
Ward Prowse is quality.
If we signed him and Gabriel Jesus I would be over the moon.

8.) 26 Apr 2022 20:13:57
I agree CMF, I just don’t get the negativity towards MO. He gives 100% whenever he plays, whether that’s for 5 minutes or 90.

Completely unselfish, in both the way he plays, wins the ball and then gives it to the players who are supposed to create goals, and more importantly in the way he is happy to be a squad player, doesn’t throw he toys out the pram, and then gives it his all when he does get a game. This is exactly what a squad player should be, and yet for many that’s not good enough?

Do they really expect us to have world class internationals all the way down to squad number 25, happy to sit on the bench for most of the season as we can only play 11?

I agree with you as well Bill. It’s why I mentioned him, and the stats don’t lie. However, I would actually prefer Bissouma, not that he is a better player, but I like the position and style he plays, and just like MO, the way he supports and defends, allowing those who should be trying to create and score to do their thing.

At that, I think he is actually the best in the premiership, like a MO but on steroids.

20 Apr 2021 21:28:01
this whole super league affair has seemingly been conducted by rich toddlers sniffing marching powder, hope they all end up being forced out the clubs.

SirWenger

{Ed014's Note - could this be a good time for Alisha Usmanov to make Stan an offer?

1.) 20 Apr 2021 21:36:30
There will never be a better time Ed014 mate, the tyrants who run our club are rocking on thier heels it's up to us to keep the pressure on and force them out.

{Ed014's Note - he made an offer before he sold out, that may now be an attractive offer if he comes back with it!

2.) 20 Apr 2021 21:59:48
Kronke had the opportunity on many occasions to sell to Usmanov but always said no, hopefully because he thought this Superleague was coming, so let’s hope this is the catalyst to get him out of our club.

3.) 20 Apr 2021 21:45:26
Marching powder. More like LSD absolutely off their heads. It’s a joke. Maybe some good will come of it. I think the powers should try and make them all sell up.

4.) 20 Apr 2021 21:51:41
I don't see how another super rich owner helps the fans! Surely this problem has been caused by rich owners seeking to increase their influence and control.

Do we really want to be chelski?!

{Ed014's Note - I get the feeling it’s the American owners wanting to turn it all into something akin to American football and the rest just look at the dollar signs Sally.

Kroenke is just so bad for us, no will to win, just a want for money.

5.) 20 Apr 2021 21:51:49
I want the Dangote fellow

He’s a true arsenal fan.

{Ed014's Note - I wouldn’t mind him either Mal.

6.) 20 Apr 2021 22:42:39
I agree that to Americans, this is all business. No respect for football as a game, or the institutions that it supports. Having lived in LA for many years I think the way American fans view their team is as an altar to kneel at. You are a fan, yes, but always a consumer first. It's even in the name - they call them franchises!

With football, especially in South America and Europe, your club is your community and a part of your life. Sadly, owners have caught on to this and have used the opportunity to exploit this relationship.

I am as adamant as I have ever been since he bought our club that Kroenke must go.

7.) 20 Apr 2021 23:08:47
Get them out I have always said it. The problem with Arsenal has been its owners not having a real footballing interest in the club. We need to accept the German system with a strong fan base ownership.

02 Dec 2020 22:14:12
When was the last arsenal premier League game that you really enjoyed watching?

SirWenger

{Ed047's Note - 4th October 2015 when Ozil and Sanchez ripped United a new one.

1.) 02 Dec 2020 22:48:29
Agree Ed047, that was the last time I was really blown away impressed by the fantastic performance we gave and the result we got. I was totally consumed by what I was watching and came away with a buzz than ran into the next day and beyond.

{Ed047's Note - my only disappointment was we didn’t get a lot more than the 3 mate after what was it, 20 minutes

2.) 02 Dec 2020 23:20:02
Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea 2016

Wenger again.

3.) 02 Dec 2020 23:24:44
Or was it 30 May 2015 FA Cup Vs Villa. Great day and great score. Nice to win in style

Another great Ozil and Sanchez day.

4.) 02 Dec 2020 23:28:16
But what a 20 minutes mate, we'd seen nothing like it for years and ate yet to see anything close to it since.

5.) 03 Dec 2020 11:31:24
December 2018 Us 4 Them 2! More of the same please COYG.

Without that clause, would haaland have signed for Dortmund?
Without that clause, will saka stay at arsenal?

It's a smart move by any player, imo, and I don't think you should be taking it personally.
