Fast forward 6 years and this is our first team, what is the one position you would change and why?

Hi All

The Gunners have been lucky of late scraping the 3 points. Fair play to them but the last 5 minutes of games isn't good for the heart, they need to kill off games sooner.
Also I would question Artetas team selection. Sokratis is not a right back and looks so uncomfortable out there. Pepe is just a fancy dan who produces far too little considering the skill and price tag he has. our midfield is crying out for a powerful ball winner, with torreira injured we look weak, a better team would have exploited that today. Xhaka is too slow when he loses the ball. Auba should be played down the middle instead of trying to fit every one in.
On the plus side Leno saved us again, the defence kept a clean sheet, ozil played well and saka just gets better.
I would pick the following for a balanced team

Leno
Bellerin Mustafi Mari Tierney
Luiz Ceballos
Nelson Ozil Saka
Aubamayang

Subs
Martinez Maitland Niles Soares Sokratis Xhaka Willock Nketiah Lacazette.

As most of the squad are injury free, team selection for Thursday will be interesting, as Arteta could actually send out a completely different starting line up to the last match:
Martinez
Maitland-Niles Sokratis Holdong Kolasinac
Torreira Guendouzi
Nelson Willock Martinelli
Lacazette.

With Ozil and Torreira likely out, would like to see Arteta go 4-3-3 with a pacy, quick lineup (not CBs of course)
Martinez
Bellerin. Sokratis. Holding. Kolasinac
Maitland-Niles. Willock. Saka
Nelson. Lacazette. Martinelli.

Shame we didn't win yesterday. On the positive side, we didn't lose and kept a clean sheet. I was impressed by Bellerin and Mustafi in particular.
Much as Ozil tried, Burnley away isn't a match for him. Bearing in mind how well Ceballos played when we beat Burnley at home, with hindsight it may have been better to select him in place of Ozil. I also would have liked to have seen Pepe come on with 20 or 30 mins to go, either in place of Lacazette, with Aubameyang moving up top, or Martinelli who struggled against the physicality of Burnley's neanderthal players.
With a 2 week break, I would like to see us line up we Newcastle:
Leno
Bellerin Luiz Mari Kolasinac
Torreira Xhaka
Pepe Ceballos Aubameyang
Lacazette

I was inclined to drop Lacazette, but it would not help his already low confidence and a goal could revitalise him. With a midweek match v Olympiacos (A) to follow and a 3rd match in a week v Everton (H) . We can then line up as follows, subject to fitness:
Martinez
Soares Mustafi Sokratis Saka
Guendouzi Willock
Nelson Ozil Martinelli
Nketiah

We also have Holding and Maitland-Niles to bring in.

This would mean having a fresh line up v Everton. With playing 3 matches a week for at least a couple of weeks, possibly more, if we get through the next round of the Europa League and if we have any FA Cup replays, it is important to rotate the squad, to keep players fresh and give an opportunity for all the squad to play.

Strong lineup he's gone with, looks like he's taking it seriously, hopefully we build up some form and confidence.

Would love to see this.

Lemar Dembele Pepe

Ozil

Cash in on the unhappy PEA and Laca while we can get some decent money.

Think it's a better balance - question is, would they work hard enough to suit Mikel's Arsenal vision. certainly gives us better width and allows players to be in their natural position.

Then we use the money to sort out our RB issue while we ride out the CD issue until the summer.

Holding and Mavropanos should be fit pretty soon so as everyone is stating with Papa, Luiz and Mustafi as experienced CDs are available plus the excellent Medley. No point being heavy on CDs with Saliba arriving in the summer. Clearly we don't know Mikel's plans for Papa, Chambers, Mavropanos, Luiz, Mustafi etc in the summer. If he wants a clear out then I would support getting a CD in now so they are ready for 20/ 21 season,

What's clear is we need a special striker who will get 20 plus epl goals a season. We need fast tricky hard working wingmen, a special creator like Ozil plus a CM who can spray the ball around. This needs to be built on an organised defence.

May be the big issue is to sort out PEA and
Laca rather than our CDs as an organised team means we can cope better.
