Morning Ed002. It's been reported now that Edu has left Arsenal. Do you know why this is? Decision of the owners, Edu's own decision, etc?
0
{Ed002's Note - I don't know why he has decided to quite I am afraid.}

Hi Ed002, any early signs or indications who we might sign as a replacement to Edu? Where are has interest been shown?

{Ed002's Note - No, I think the discussions with the board happened very recently.}

It seems that he has been looking for a broader role in a multi club set up (such as City Group, Red Bull etc. ) which would give hime full control over transfers. Evangelos Marinakis and Sokratis Kominakis who own Nottingham Forest and Olympiakos are looking to add another club in Europe and a South American side - and they have expressed a desire to perhaps pick up some of the clubs screwed by 777 Partners. They are also looking for an oversear. It does not seem an attractive option to me.

Thanks for the update Ed. I know you weren’t Edu’s biggest fan in his first few years at the club. I don’t know who makes the transfers but I weren’t his biggest fan on some of the transfer dealing he was involved in - such as Sterling. Might be too early to say but do you have any opinions of who you think arsenal should recruit to replace him?

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you the names of some very good Sporting Directors but it is too early to say what will happen.}

My guess is that it's better paid with more control. Good for Edu, he's done well with Arsenal, but I am a bit surprised by the timing. Is it better for a sporting director to leave after the summer when the hard work has been done? Perhaps he was doing us a favour not quitting mid-transfer-window?

{Ed002's Note - It is a difficult time to recruit.}

Evening all Ed's and fellow gunners, hope all's well. was just reading an article. (don't know if there's real truth in it) . stating that we are considering taking Leroy sané from Bayern when he's contract expires making the 28 year old winger a free transfer. (really hefty wages though, reportedly on £320grand a week at Bayern) . I personally feel if Arteta can get the best out of him, he'd be a solid addition to our squad. just wondered what you guys may think. if he's worth a go with the gunners.? . 🔴⚪️❤️.

{Ed002's Note - Leroy Sane (W/AM) Bayern Munich are open to a new contract but financial expectations are far apart. I expect Middle East might be a viable solution with Al Nassr. Newcastle has a declared interest. Liverpool were, and may still be, keen to take him as a Salah replacement. I would not rule out Arsenal taking him, as they do have interest. Free agent in the summer, but huge wage demands.}

Afternoon Ed,
Will the Arsenal go back in for Isak next summer?
1
{Ed002's Note - Alexander Isak (S) Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak and want a new contract - but that is proving difficult due to his demands. Arsenal interest remains and PSG are considering him. Well down the list for Chelsea.}

Odegaard out for a minimum of 2 months, apparently. Time for the squad to step up 💪.

Ed is he a target for us and would be available in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - He will have a release clause in the summer but I don't know if Arsenal will look again.}

Superb signing. No fee and no obligation to buy. Only paying half his wages. Great deal.

Seems like a very good deal, still think we're a bit short if injuries crop up, but fingers crossed.
Chelsea are weird, ship out Sterling just to sign Sancho.

As I mentioned before, I would have been upset if we had paid a big transfer fee for him or paid his massive wages. This, though, is very canny. Excellent work by the club.
