Rumours surrounding Zubimendi seem to be getting a little warmer. I can't see us managing to ship enough out to bring him in, but what do I know? Phillips to West Ham is good business for them, did we have any passing interest? I always rated him myself. Best HB.

{Ed002's Note - Martin Zubimendi (CM/DM) Barcelona may still look to an offer although they are looking at preferred options first and would likely want to include a player in any deal. Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have sent scouts with Arsenal declaring an interest with his club. Real Sociedad may look to refusing a transfer unless his buy out clause is met in full. A Wildcard would be Bayern Munich. One for the summer not January.

Arsenal had no interest in Kalvin Phillips.}

Good afternoon Ed, is his release clause in the region of 50m? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - €60M in a single payment.}

Cheers, Ed. Thanks for the update . Best, HB.

I suspect it's fair to assume that a landmark signing is unlikely in this window. I have a feeling that Arteta will soldier on and hope for the early and effective return of some injured players, and use the summer for more radical surgery up front.

Happy to be wrong, however HB.

I've no idea what Arteta and the club will do HB but it's become very clear over the last 3 games that we are not good enough as we are. I thought the players we had could we improved in front of goal but its not happened and its costing us big style. If we get knocked out of the CL by Porto it would be awful and if dominated them but failed to get past them without trying to address our issues when we could have it would be even worse than awful.

2.) 12 Jan 2024 20:03:08
I hear you. I think we are caught between available funds for the desired players, and the rigours of FPP. I wonder if they cannot buy without selling, but can't risk selling and ending up with nobody. HB.

3.) 12 Jan 2024 20:23:26
I think your right John.
5 league games before we play Porto
2 home 3 away. If we have not been able to address our problems in front of goal then pressure on us when we play Porto will be immense.
I agree with you HB, players will have to be sold before any new players come in. Fees being touted for Toney, Vlahovic and all the other players we have been connected with, there will have to be a few players going out the door.
Lets hope a few days in the Dubai sun revilitise them, a bit like when we had a weekend away at Skegness back in the day.

Very fair comments HB and Bill ?

Are there no free agents who knew where the goal is and aren't afraid use it ????.

Huge game today, and after watching Villa pull City apart, we are going to have to be at our very best. I wonder if this will be a defining game second half of the season. Selection will be interesting. COYG.

Fantastic result from what turned out to be a tricky fixture. Great for Havertz to get the winning goal. Felt for Ramsdale; very nervous in the first half and nearly cost us, but very solid after the break. Interesting to see the selection in the next game. Top of the league feels good.! HB.

I think Arteta's post match interview where he made no effort to praise, discuss or defend Ramsdale when asked about him, shows Raya is his number 1.
Fully expect that he won't be an Arsenal player by this time next year, and if I was him I'd be pushing for at least a loan move in Jan.

2.) 25 Nov 2023 21:24:15
I never thought Brentford would be an easy game they are a very decent outfit and their manager has done an excellent job there.

A great 3pts and back at the top of the table with a third of the season to go, I still don't think we've hit our top gear yet or even matched last seasons high standards but yet there we are still best in class so far.

There are so many things I just don't get about Arteta but his results speak louder than my personal opinions on him. his decisions and man management style ever can. I hope he continues to both bewilder and delight me in equall measure for many many years to come.

Up the Arsenal ?.

3.) 26 Nov 2023 12:47:06
Agree with all that. Ramsdale will be off I reckon.

4.) 26 Nov 2023 20:10:42
Aaron should be motivated by Dick Emery, he's done pretty well for himself since we gave him his P45.

I'm really pleased for him even though I wanted to him to go, he did a brilliant job at Savile and is doing fantastic at Villa, the biggest mystery is why he adopted a win 5 4 shop swap mentality at Arsenal but became defensively aware at Savile and Villa. Maybe being the first to replace Arsene was too much pressure at the time.

Whilst seasons are rarely decided this early, today's games can give a meaningful pointer to who is in the mix. It goes without saying that we expect three points - formation will be interesting with some hopeful returns. If Liverpool win, it lays down a significant marker and further diminishes the narrative that City are unbeatable. Spurs-Villa looks like a very interesting tie and offers a stern test of Spurs durability with key players missing. We will also get to see if Chelsea are beginning to turn the corner, as performances have recently suggested. here's hoping for a good day for us. COYG. HB.

Aside from a couple of recent good goals, he has been terrible for Chelsea. For me, he can stay there.

Wire, I agree. on reflection, and FFP notwithstanding, that would be the perfect outcome. It's increasingly sounding like we are pursuing Onana.

Money can be the only reason to go to United, they look far behind us in the quest for silverware and have no obvious plan to rectify it.

Best, HB.

I read this too Dublin. Whilst I like Onana, I would prefer someone who can put a simple ball in the back of the net.

for what it's worth, grabbing any old striker who is available might make matters even worse. Either persist with Nketiah and let him get some confidence, or promote the youngsters. The last thing we want is to go back to a squad bloated with mediocrity; make it class or nothing, and a £100M striker is not going to arrive in this window.

Best to all. HB.

Jeg. He can voice as many opinions as he likes, as long as he is willing to take the consequences in terms of critique and litigation.

Where is the evidence that more people have died from the vax than the C.V.? Close to 7 million people died globally from C.V., there is no credible evidence that the C.V. has affected anything like that amount - not even a fraction.

There is no credible evidence of fake death certificates.

I'm not sure I can make much sense of your climate comments - especially the reference to 'they'. Who are they?

As for the rest of the fantasy land claims you mention, they are not worth commenting on and have been debunked as the mutterings of fantasists like Jones.

So, he can say what he likes with the proviso that he faces the consequences for lying and defamation, and he is happy for us to equally exercise our free speech in calling him a deluded fantasist - which I would be happy to demonstrate in court or anywhere else.

Really? Get rid of Arteta? I have my quibbles and express them on here, but getting rid would be self-harm on a grand scale.
