Seeing a lot of reports that Rogers is Chelsea bound now! Any truth behind this or just passport talk?

Looks like they were prepared to offer 117m, which, frankly, is an absurd amount of money. Chelsea and City have been throwing around huge fees for (imo) players, just not worth that kind of scratch. There are better options out there that fit our needs!

Sky sports reporting rice is a done deal apart from medical and personal terms! Thought they had already discussed that to be honest.
{Ed014's Note - no doubt just one of a number of varying stories that will come out until any real deal is done DB.

Totally agree Ed014 mate, Sky change their fictional claims according to what ever way the winds blowing at the time. They have no shame simply because they don't have any credibility to lose in the first place.

It looks like he's coming. Fantastic signing, bit embarrassed we're spending 100m on a player though.
3.) 29 Jun 2023 07:54:50
Wenger, I'm not quite excited yet, but I hope to be once the season starts. Crazy money though.
4.) 29 Jun 2023 09:03:13
I can't wait for it tk be officially announced do we know when the medical is taking place.
5.) 29 Jun 2023 09:15:51
Wenger can I asked why you’re personally embarrassed we have spent 105m?
6.) 29 Jun 2023 11:13:36
I'm more excited about rice than havertz Sharpe, 65m for a Chelsea flop?
And sure vodka: I've always enjoyed that as a club arsenal haven't paid galacticos fees, but rather looked to develop players. By spending 100m we start to look at lot like United, Chelsea, city.
It's ambitious for sure, but it's a little embarassing. (I don't mean I'm blushing when someone mentions it, if that's your concern)

As long as we can win the league and or CL I see no problem with it. We can spend this kind of money and the club still generate huge revenues consistently overtime to reap it back. However, if we win nothing of significance within that period of time it will look like a failure, then it will come across as embarrassing on the whole.
Over the last twenty years one could say its only us and Leicester have not spend crazily to win the league. It has been dominated by four big spenders.
If we should get others like Timber, Lavia for example I think we need a proper No. 9 from being complete and we're on our way. The development can continue as it has always been. It would be nice to be winning and selling steadily.
Still ABBA.

Don’t be embarrassed SirWenger, you can’t always do business and be effective on the pitch by adopting some misplaced sense of virtue as a safety net for not competing or winning at the highest level. We’ve needed to lose this mentality that Wenger instilled in us from seasons past where we never competed on the pitch after transfer windows where we only signed Petr Cech for £10M, do you remember that?
What is the point of buying cheap, taking on huge risk and not knowing if the player will reach his potential to then lose him when he reaches his peak because you can’t match his ambition, like Van Persie? He’s the guy who went on to nearly single handedly win Man Utd the league right after he left us.
Another thing worth noting is that this could be looked at as recognition and celebration of the good business and recruitment we have done these past few years.
We got Partey £20M cheaper than valued by his club. We got Martinelli cheap. We got Odegaard cheap. Saliba and Gabriel are now worth far more than when we invested. Saka is a £120M player. You can go right through the squad now and find players who would all turn a profit from what they were signed for and that’s all down to the manager. So let’s trust his judgement because I happen to think any potential sale of Rice in the future will be for a profit also should it ever come to it.
If you can’t spend big and speculate the money needed to attract the talent to truly compete with the best in Europe then what’s the point of unearthing gems like Martinelli in the first place or moving to the Emirates?
Declan Rice on field and off field attributes are going to propel us to another level, so as fans it might be time to trade in our holier than thou attitudes that were only really ever borne out of being able to argue that ‘that’s not how I’d want to win it anyway’. Purely pacifying ourselves with a fragile sensibility and misplaced sense of virtue.
We’re back in the big time fellas, we’ve earned the right to be here we’ve being the subject of ridicule for 15 years+ so let’s enjoy it. Our shirt sales, sponsorship deals and match day revenues deserve big investment.
On a side note, if Arteta can turn Xhaka into the player he was last season from what he was for years prior in that advanced 8 role, then there’s no reason he can’t get the best out of Havertz and unearth a top quality player.
Exciting times fellas Emirates going to be rocking next season again!

Virtually every Arsenal fan I know wanted the club to sign Rice if it was possible and the club have done everything they possibly could and made it happen for us.
No more penny pinching deals on deadline day to save on fees and having to pay players wages during the close season, this current Arsenal set up have gone big, gone brave and gone early to give new players the chance to settle in during the preseason. Last season we saw a very different Arsenal on the pitch and now we are seeing the owners and staff show that very same appetite and ambition off the field.
If we can't be excited to be gooners now then when can we be.
