I was a couple of weeks shy of my tenth birthday in 66.Still remember it now. Sitting in the front room watching it with my Dad, great memories. Circumdtances went against in 70.Since then apart Italy 90 ( still get upset watching that semi final) , I have never felt confident in any World Cups or Euros. But there is something about this one, cannot put my finger on it, but yes I think this is the one.

Italia 90, best ever for me!

Gazza, Pavarotti and nessum dorma, Sir Bobby Robson bless him, that tournament seemed to have everything.

Absolutely Ed014 mate it was there to be had, but in truth would the memories amd emotions of that magical summer really be any better or longer lasting if we had won it mate?

Gazza yellow card and tears that had us crying inside if not outside for him, Linkers look to the bench to say keep on eye on Gazza and the look of disappointed acceptance on Sir Bobby's face at the end! It was a fantastic rollacoaster ride of emotions, excitement heartbreak pride and passion.
Looking back now I wouldn't change a thing, I was so invested in all that summer and every time I hear Nessum Dorma emotionally and mentally I'm back there reliving it all over again and again. Wonderful experience.

Absolutely - such a shame. Can’t believe Rngland lost on bloody penalties so often to Germany.

On a side note - ties into Gazza though - the tournament rules on yellow cards is ridiculously stupid. Granit missing the quarter finals due to 2 yellows in different games or potentially Rice missing the Semi if he was booked again in bonkers to me.

Booking the Ukrainian guy for taking his shirt off for scoring in 30th minute of extra time putting his team into a record breaking round for his country - ridiculous yellow especially with no fans to incite

Anyone else agree?
