Anyone else notice something interesting about that game - Mikel was using Partey in the Zinchenko role but from right back, and playing Kiwior as a LCB. I think this might be his plan for the future if Zinny is out rather than trying to plug Tierney into that specialised position.

If that's the end of KTs career with us I'll be sad, but excited to see what we try next season. Mikel really is a very interesting manager from a tactical perspective.

Interesting how KT is now the unwanted stepchild - what happened there? I thought he’s always turned up.

Yes very odd, the only blot against him I thought was his injury record, but when he played last year he was always dependable and usually one of the best players on the pitch. Then this year even when zinchencho wasn't available he didn't get picked.

I think it's not to do with Tierney as it is to the system Arteta uses. Tierney is a beast but technically not the best on the ball. Tough for him as the role demands to create spaces and pockets and then pick a dart of a pass in transition into the attacking third, something KT just can't do. but a top bloke and will make whichever team he goes to much better.
