Hello Ed001, hope you're well. Have you gotten any chance to look at Tomiyasu!? And do you rate him? Also, do you think he can do us a job at RB, which is seemingly looking where he'll play. Any insight is appreciated as always.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen him play mate, sorry. Just had a quick look at his report on WyScout and they say he has been playing left sided centre-back or right-back mostly, so he should be fully capable of playing there.}

I've seen a few reports here and there and his percentile for defenders across Europe show that he's much more a CB than a full back. Ed002 confirmed that on the rumours page too. What's confusing is he's the same profile as Ben white. And since changing the formation looks unlikely, I really don't understand where he's going to fit. Either he's going to warm the bench and we'll see chambers get a run at RB (which isn't exciting) or we'll see him get an extended run at RB which is not his best position. I hope this is an astute signing and not a panic buy. What do the other Gooners feel here? Thanks anyways for your info mate Ed001!

I think Chambers and AMN have proved that at the very highest level you get punished when you play individuals out of position, or at least in their second position.

Full backs are special-ist positions, especially these days where they are expected to be wing backs anyway. I fear that he is too tall for a right back and will get exposed, as does Chambers.

Certainly if I was playing against Arsenal I would ensure any mobile winger was played down the left to expose the fact we have a CB playing at right back.

On the positive side though he should help in both defending and attacking corners and crosses, which is a massive area we do need to improve.

Lol Ed. I think my posts have taken on a rather depressive tone in recent months. I think a decent performance against Norwich, including good performances from the key players, and we will all be feeling much better. However lose that game, and I think I will ask the missus to hide any rope laying about the house 😂.

What if he's seen as a Wan-Bissaka-esque RB. Just okay in the final third but more than a hand in the other 2 thirds of the pitch, he's going to help us get that ball high up the pitch and become like this bull in those thirds. I can see how Arteta can use him.
