So in 2009 we could have signed Xabi Alonso and he was desperate to sign and Cesc wanted him to sign. We submitted a 15m offer, 3m short and missed out. We could have had him and Cesc in the middle of midfield but "fluffed" our lines again.
Frustrating and I assume true based on Cesc's very open interview.
{Ed047's Note - we’ve fluffed so many things over the last 10-15yrs mate so for me it’s just another to add to all the other disappointments.

I agree Ed047 there are so many players we could and should have signed but didn't which has all accumulated into the Arsenal we see today.
But what's done is done and until our scouts spot a time machine on their travels there is no changing what's already happend.
Mistakes were made but those who made them are no longing making the decisions.

Decent team - 4 keepers in the squad and not a clean sheet between them.
This squad should have one the bloody league. Clichy diving in and Gallas hysterics and Eduardo broken league need their hopes.

Agree with a top 10 keeper that team could have competed big style SY, no personal disrespect to Almunia as a person but there were probably 15 better keepers in the premier league at that time than he was, i definitely said so at the time and moaned a lot about it at the time and for a while afterwards but it's all ancient history now mate and where is the benefit of looking back so far, looking back at what was wrong the previous season has real benefit but 10+ years ago? It's just self torture mate.

Agreed - three 3 made me do it. Diaby discussion, Cesc interview about Alonso and someone asked about a bad decision ( Clichy diving in ) . need to stop. Glad all good with you.

Think about Emilia mate :-) that should take your mind off Arsenal's failings.
If you had the choice of two weeks on a desert island with just you Emilia and an endless supply of fine wine or Arsenal getting an extra 2 points 20 years ago which one would you choose :-)
