Vermaelen, Djourou, Sagna & Jenkinson out. Chambers & Debauchy in. It simply doesn't add up.
Mertesacker & Gibbs have slight injury concerns. Monreal & Debauchy are out injured. It beggars belief.
How we will cope defensively until December is beyond me.

Its just stupid robbie. wenger is a clown. out dated methods and tactics

You guys fail to understand, that its not been an easy summer for anyone in terms of defenders.

barca overpaid for two very average defenders, Manchester United tried to get the cream but they only got the crumbs.

while we did let verm go, which was a promise wenger made to him last year, and its only fitting we did, its not Wengers fault for being unable to force another player to move.

as he stated it takes 3 to tango.

im happy with the players he did bring in, until the last minute which was getting welbeck.

If Ozil, Sanchez and Welbeck really kick on they can be a nightmare trio. shame walcott does not want to attend the party.

we may have not had the summer of chelsea or the madness of man utd, but by our standards we did quite well and that's all I can ask as a fan, even if we did have itchy hands until the last minute of the transfer window.

3 months till the next one.

You're usually on the mark Lakerville, but I disagree here. Mangala looks a beast for City, there were a couple of good defensive cover and top modern style transition DMS available and we had the cash and momentum coming off the cup and weeks at the top of the table. We could've and should've sorted out central mid and defence early on the window. Penny wise and pound foolish not to over the long term, IMHO.

But this is where we are now, so I hope you are right.

No I agree with Lakerville he/she's being a realist. You have to understand. Per and Kos was one of the best (maybe the best) centre back parternships last season, so it owuld be stupid for Wenger to change that. Do you think Managla would come in and accept being second choice Centre back? Just for the fans that are in cuckoo land, when it comes to contracts its not just salary that is discussed, its playing time, whether they're 1st choice, 2nd choice etc. Us Fans always moaning what happened to Bellerin, Apkom, Hayden, etc If they don't get a chance to play how will they progress? You can't always buy success (at the moment Manchester United is proving that). Also guys what would you have said if Wenger spent £32m on an unproven defender? let's be real folks

Daywalker per and kos are good, but not that good. At the top table yhey are limited and time after time come unstuck in the big games inclufinh thr cup. We need competition for them not spectators.

Lakes is being a realist, it's what we have to do when the window is closed. But I don't think that an upgrade in defence and defensive mid this summer was unrealistic.

From what the EDs said Mangala was a target but we didn't get him.

Fact is a number of targets chose to go elsewhere or we didn't offer the right price for them.

Still, Wenger's involvement would be in the sanctioning of purchasing the player/position which it does appear he has done. The club then did not get the result. To therefore blame Wenger is probably actually incorrect.
