Just a question, what are your views on the perceived breakdown in relations between Ozil and Emery? Additionally who would buy him in today's market?

Hackney Gooner

1.) 29 Dec 2018 00:02:48
From my point of view, Dick is giving his all for arsenal with passion and commitment, Ozil is stealing a living. With all the talent he has, i would feel ashamed but i doubt that he does.

2.) 29 Dec 2018 13:03:22
Whatever the reason the result is the same Mesut is not available as often as he should be and not as effective as often as he should be when he is available so isn't selected as often as he could be.
There seems no logical footballing reason for either Arsenal or Mesut to continue working together.
Mesut has a huge contract we gave ( our decision) and is perfectly entitled to see it out if he wishes to every bit as much as we are entitled to hold Torreira to his contact when another club comes knocking.
Contracts work both ways and both clubs and players have to live by the choice they made at the time of signing the contracts unless mutual agreement is reached to end the contract, that's life and that's business.

3.) 29 Dec 2018 20:58:04
ED, I’d love to know your thoughts about Lacazette not starting. I’m not sure what the guy has to do? Works hard, gets a goal or assist nearly every game and makes the team play better. Is there something we’re all not seeing behind close doors?

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know it is nothing but the choice of the coach.}

4.) 29 Dec 2018 22:00:22
Cold, i would think its part to do with the shape of the team and trying to plug the back. Dick prefers 433 and 343. Rightly or wrongly and i think wrongly, while we have so many injuries in defence he is playing 4 at the back so one striker. With only three in midfield he won't play auba on the left. Even today, losing at Liverpool, he subed one for the other, why not play both, what had he to lose. Its hard for a coach to alter his beliefs but me i would play them together 100%. I would also play 352 also but i'm not our coach. Most arsenal fans want both of them on the pitch but we also want to stop letting in goals, let's hope he finds a way to do both.

5.) 29 Dec 2018 22:50:20
The ways easy, get a world class defence, unfortunately Emery and many more know we are a long way from that.

Long time since I've posted. Heard a rumour Islam Slimini is a target and the loaning of Joel Campbell was part of the deal.

Also think it's interesting that we've been linked with Yacine Brahimi, that would be consistent with our attempts at Mahrez and Mikki earlier in the window and could also be why we let the Campbell deal happen (though this is speculation) .

1.) 21 Aug 2016 20:43:05
Hackney, I was going to post the same thing. A friend of mine who is an agent based in Portugal mainly working with south american players, told me that the Campbell loan was part of a deal to purchase a player before the window shuts. He doesn't know the name of the player, but either Slimani or Brahimi would be nice additions.

2.) 21 Aug 2016 21:14:53
Wow a genuine interesting rumour. I suppose it would explain the Campbell loan because that really frustrated and perplexes me. Wait and see I suppose.

Don't know an awful lot about the guy though. Looks like he has the physical prowess for league.

3.) 21 Aug 2016 22:09:29
I was wondering something along the lines of this earlier (though I have no inside knowledge, just whatever nonsense my brain dreams up) it seems very much 2+2 doesn't it?

Sporting have a striker we're apparently interested in.
They also have a good CB in Oliveira (spelling may be off)
They also have William Carvalho, who we know Arsene likes.

However, when I put 2+2 together with football, i often get 5.

Slimani to me seems just an Algerian Giroud.
I'm not saying he'd be bad, none of us could know that until/ unless we'd seen him in this league, but on paper, kinda think he's just, well, meh.

Carvalho we don't need at all, plenty of CM's but when does that stop Arsene.

Oliveira, is just me doing those bloody maths again.

I reckon there's some sort of legs to what you guys are saying though, I mean, it seems silly to loan out Joel and give up some of our (underrated) firepower, when we're already lacking goals.

It wouldn't shock me if we've given up on a striker and are looking for a winger, so we can play Theo up top full time till Welbz is 'fit' in Jan.

But that's just me!

4.) 21 Aug 2016 22:12:08
that brahimi is linked to everton so he might go there but the striker is same type of player as giroud is that what we need or do we need like a aguero type of player that can run off girouds knock downs.

5.) 21 Aug 2016 22:28:00
Rumours might have some legs but for me its easier to shift cambell than walcot, that's why cambell has gone and not walcot. We are still paying some of cambells wages, apparently.

Does Arsenal hold an interest in Destro and if so what are your opinions of him as a player?

Hackney Gooner

1.) 19 Jan 2015 00:01:07
Decent player.

With Pod at Milan, Sanogo at Palace and Welbz struggling with injury, we are a bit light upfront.

Destro could be a good loanee.

Hi there, just a question for both the Eds and everyone else.

In your minds other than Ornstein at the BBC which other outlets provide the most accurate info on transfer gossip?

Happy New Year and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hackney Gooner

I genuinely go by this site for rumours, except for Malaga lol.

Happy new year mate.

it's pretty cool, isn't distracting and still easy to read, nice Eds!

Hey there. Looking like 40m of the (reported) 100m will now spent if we are successful in capturing Sanchez and Debuchy.

If our main slots to fill would be GK, RB, CB, DM & ST that would leave 3 slots and 60m budget. How would you see that 60m being spread?

Hackney Gooner

1.) We will spend what we need to. The '100 million budget' is just BS made up by the press.

2.) Its 40 mill euros, and the Eds have said wenger does not have a budget, rather he can sign the players he wants, and if we do land sanchez he will be our stellar signing, everything else will be squad depth or reasonable quality.

Having Remy in a trio with sanchez and walcott does not sound like a bad idea now. dags call your mate and tell him the cabs outside.

the only interesting bit, considering we have no chance to land the player, Marco reus is 3/1 to join Arsenal, and those are the best odds at the moment.

3.) Gk - Ochoa - free
Cb - Veltman - 10mil
Dm- Spyder 20mil
And a winger probably Cuadrado -30mil

4.) G95 is correct

100 mill is laughable AW will never burden himself with that

5.) Wenger will never bring in that many new faces in one window.

I'd expect a keeper on top of what's already been mentioned and maybe a cb if verm really
is adamant on leaving

Would like to say for all of those who state we cannot attract players of the ilk of Pogba, Sanchez et al let me state.

- We signed Ozil and Suarez wanted to join us.

- Our manager would be signed by Real Madrid or Barcelona in a heartbeat and is a huge draw to players.

- We have world class stadia, facilities and are loaded.

Believe we will buy BIG this season despite some of the early work done by the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Manchester United that is because of the targets we hold are genuinely World Class.

I am putting £20 on us winning the league as 10/1 will not be the odds after the summer we will have.

;)

Hackney Gooner

1.) 28 Jun 2014 19:38:26
Its one thing having it.

Its another thing spending it.

2.) Brilliant post Hackney I hope all your predictions come true and you collect £2000 in fact I might just copy you and risk £20 myself on the strength of your post mate, very motivating

3.) 28 Jun 2014 20:22:08
I'm with you 100% Hackney,

We also made a big bid for Draxler but he decided to stay put, his loss me thinks.

People struggle to let go of what was a period of austerity to get us to this position.

I say smile ffs we are the Arsenal and fourth and no trophies is history!

4.) 28 Jun 2014 20:36:21
Suarez probably only wanted to sign for us because he knew if there was the hint of a profit to be had we wouldn't think twice about selling him to Barca or Madrid.

5.) Gunner maths obviously not your thing. Or betting isnt.

6.) 28 Jun 2014 22:42:52
Lol Steve,

I wish G62 was my bookie.

7.) Oooops good spot steve ;-) actually the maths is usually ok its the rest of me that's usually a bit off the mark.
Luckily I'm not a regular at the bookies but guess they wish I was :-)

8.) 29 Jun 2014 06:18:29
GUNNER62. Had to laugh at that mate sorry. It could have been a typing error but anyway.
You couldn't lend me £100 and I will give you the £10 back when I see you? Ok :)

9.) Golds I'd love to hide behind the typing thing mate but sadly at the time of going to press it made sense to me :-( on the £1000 you want to borrow yeah that's fine mate just pay me back at £1 a week for a month if your ok with those terms! I wouldn't want to you to think I was trying to take advantage or anything :-)

10.) 29 Jun 2014 12:09:22
GUNNER62. To save time and energy. Bring the £1000 with you when I see you and instead if messing about paying you £1 a week for a month I will just give you the £4 and that's us settled. Or you can just give me £996 if that's easier mate. :)

11.) I'm not fooling for that one gold's, you must think I was born tomorrow!
I tell you what I'll give you £1000 week for 12 weeks making a total of 22000 and that's my final offer

12.) 29 Jun 2014 22:42:12
Ok mate you drive a hard bargain but needs must! :-)

For me Lacazette for is in the same 'league' (maybe a touch better) than Michy Batshuayi. Perez has little resale value and had 1 good season in a top league but represents a risk. Thus Lacazette being pursued in the first instance. We'd have been watching Perez for months though.

Rather than ridiculous think that this is exactly the kind of candidate our club should be considering. Still remember the 'Arsene Who?' headlines and Ferguson managed Aberdeen and was not most fans 1st choice.

So Ed002, you can confirm it will be a 'he' that joins us.

Hi No.2! Guess better questions would be:

1. Who else is in the running for his signature at this time?

2. Is the bid in the region of 20m as reported and in your opinion does it reflect the market value of the player?

Thanks in advanced for your response!

Hackney Gooner

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation and I have no interest in discussing money.}

To be honest we have seen a greater degree of tactical variation this season than in any previous season I can remember. Just hasn't worked.

The main 2 problems have been over poor fitness management and the subsequent soft tissue injuries. This is of course linked to the lack of players in critical positions (DCM and CB) made yet worse because it is off the back of a World Cup year.

To be honest if we make those signings in January then think we'll be okay. The fact we have moved to get Poldi off the books suggests to me we will.

Man Utd, Barcelona and many other teams struggled to secure defensive reinforcements. This led to Mangala going for £32m and Luiz £40m (normally available for c.15m I reckon).

He is right, everyone suffered or massively overpaid. Just saying I think we had quite a good summer and if we score Khedira for 11m then I'd be more than happy.

Hackney Gooner

From what the EDs said Mangala was a target but we didn't get him.

Fact is a number of targets chose to go elsewhere or we didn't offer the right price for them.

Still, Wenger's involvement would be in the sanctioning of purchasing the player/position which it does appear he has done. The club then did not get the result. To therefore blame Wenger is probably actually incorrect.
