SY, both the players you were concerned about did ok. Kiwior was actually quite solid. Zin was good, but you could see a mistake coming.

I know I promised to get him 2 or 3 seasons, but was there more to Merino before he joined us? Genuine questions because I'd not watched him before.

Merino still settling in but he plays for a very talented Spain team, definite upgrade on Partey. Clean sheet with two if arguably not three of the back four missing. Coped well enough although United very negative, and glad to see Amad on the bench with Zin at left back. Still no point worrying the league`s done anyway COYG.

You are right the young centre back had a pretty good game and we didn’t miss Gabs as we were able to score via another corner or two. He really wasn’t challenged too much as Utd were negative.

Wasn’t impressed with Zin.

Our defence looked better thanks to a very very solid and defensive midfield infront of tnem and a Utd team that came for the draw.

We weren’t much better if we are honest - relying on corners again to score. The result was good but want great to watch

Ode and Saka were well marked but the rest of the attack didn’t take advantage of that and we were passing sideways / backwards….

We’ve a lot to do to go on a long winning streak. Not negative but a realist.

Merino looks decent but will probably take a while to get into EPL pace - we need some better attacking options.

Honestly SY, your negativity is painful mate.

Have you truly watched the quality of football we’ve played over the last two seasons and more and all you want to do is highlight the negatives and pass it off as reality.

Every team has ups and downs, look at City, where would Liverpool without Salah but because Odegaard is missing we’re a one man team.

Of course they’ll be a drop off, ourselves City and Chelsea have all had blips.

Yes we need a striker yes we could do with decent back up for Saka and a better left winger.

Liverpool are struggling to give their best three players contracts, City have to replace an ageing squad.

Where do you think we get all this money from to build this incredible squad you want.

Yes we’ve wasted some money, who hasn’t, Liverpool paid £80+ million for Nunez, City paid £100 million for Grealish.

We paid £65 million for Havertz, who got the better deal?

Reality is accepting where we’re at, enjoying some of the great football we played, accept the times we don’t play well and understand why.

Try not to jump on the ridiculous corner thing too, they are a fantastic part of our armoury, getting across the line for the title, for the first time, in a long time is about getting it done.

Every club could have that in their locker and their respective fans would love it. Just bitterness clouds their minds and I couldn’t give a flying f***.

It’s nearly Xmas mate, allow a little positivity to be wrapped up under the tree for yourself.

We all want to win, I’m certain the team want to win it.

It’s not, despite what Liverpool fans would have you believe, won in November.

Keep them coming Sy purely because it is the season to be jolly. My personal favourites amongst loads of them is `worried about the hot head Havertz` hmmmm 2 bookings only and `Havertz mis controlled the ball v Wet Spam (bowlocks by the way) and scored`. You can`t make it up yet you did! COYG PS I always read your posts as it is good to at least read the opposite opinion which is healthy, although I am always waiting for the Anti Kai sentiment which is always there. Miscontrolled but scored love it!

Hi Stoner, hope you are well. Thanks for the reply and I am happy / content and pretty cool with life. I neeed to work on a few things so I am the best I can be at home and work. But I’m happy.,

Who cares about the last two seasons - they went and we won nothing unless I’m mistaken.

We’ve spent a lot of money on this squad and should question why we aren’t at the top. If we are to topple Liverpool then tough questions and high standards need to be hit.

Utd weren’t a great opposition and we’re not at all adventuring . They helped make a defence look good. Our defence was good against City but Utd were crap and didn’t really put defence under pressure to be tested.

As for corners - if Saka isn’t scoring, where do you see the goals coming from? Why shouldn’t questions be asked about Jesus, Kai, Trossard, Sterling and Martinelli. That’s an expensive set of players who need to deliver . Sell a bunch of them and upgrade this window. How has Sterling helped and how’s Arteta improving him.

I paid compliments to a few key players - should have praised Rice.

On the live chat it was a bit negative.

How many chances were created in open play?

How many times were we on the 18 yard line only to play the ball back to our own keeper. Or play sideways / backwards

I’m sorry but if we are to win the league then we need to get our ? together as we need to go on a proper winning streak.

I can enjoy great play like the Trossard goal the other week but consistency and honesty is key. If you want me to posts saying I’m so proud of the effort etc etc - I can but what’s the point. I’d rather have a debate on why you think think season you think we will win the league and it’s good and i'm talking ? because if xyz.

We aren’t attacking the near post or making content runs into the box - Ksi is hiding behind defenders. Last year he was making good late runs into the box.

We aren’t playing with the same speed going forward - looks like we are playing for corners

I have posted positive stuff but we are a long way off Liverpool and must have high standards to win the league. What’s the point in coming second or third.

Did we play some great football last year - yes. But that’s last season and I enjoyed it at the time but didn’t enjoy not seeing a cup.

Thanks for the reply mate and I get it’s good to have opposing opinions.

Sometimes you have to build up to things and after the 3 sendings off and the Odegaard injury we’re starting to look good again.

Just a reminder, we scored 5 less than City and 5 more than Liverpool last season, 91 in total without this star striker.

I truly don’t see Liverpool as better than us by any stretch, in fact the opposite. No way are we a long way off of them.

I agree on Sterling, he’s brought pretty much nothing to the table but I really don’t get how you think the money we’ve spent has almost been wasted.

No team gets every signing right but I don’t see a team of Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Havertz and Martinelli as weak or lacking in quality.

That still leaves us players like White, Tommy, Merino, Nwaneri, Kiwior, Zinny, Jesus, Jorginho and Trossard. Players that can do a job, for the here and now, like Kiwior and Zinny did against United.

I agree we need to offload the likes of Tavares, Lokonga, Sterling, Jorginho and Zinchenko to buy better and yes we’d all like that yesterday but I think we know it doesn’t work like that.

Anyway mate, enjoy your Christmas too and hopefully this team stay injury free and get on a long unbeaten run!

I just want to say, I see where Sy is coming from. I also see where you're coming from, stoner. We're all different. We all have opinions, views, slants, whatever. And that's a good thing. For instance, I like Martinelli, and Mal doesn't. No biggie, just a difference of opinion. It doesn't make me hate the guy more than I already do.
