Various newspapers saying Arsenal will rival United for Gundogan. Sky seemed to jump the gun a bit with reporting United's contact, unless they have spoken an just haven't announced anything.

Just wondering if the Eds knew anything about our interest, or if Gundogan himself is angling for Manchester over London

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Gundogan was refusing to agree a new deal and Dortmund were willing to let him leave as he was seen as a shadow of his former (pre-injury) self. A couple of clubs were interested, including Manchester United and Manchester City, but a recent approach about his availability was responded to that a three year extension has been agreed between the club and player and details are being finalised. However, he again seems to be stalling on that and Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have rekindled their interest.}

Eds, been hearing murmurs of Hummels wanting to move on, if it's true. Any chance we would submit a bid? Can't be many better CB's in the world right now

{Ed002's Note - There has been no interest from AFC.}

Hey eds, can you think in any possible parallel dimension, Marco Reus will be in an Arsenal shirt for the new season?
Thanks in advance

{Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

Anyone shed any light on the GK situation? We're being linked with a fair few: Ruddy, Begovic, Cech, Casillas. None of them will come without the promise of being num.1. And with Wenger seeming to have a lot of faith in Szczesny, I can't really see him being dropped.
I'm more thinking were going to sign another youthful GK to give Szcez more time. Or just a cheap alternative.
Personally would love Cech or Casillas but I think I'm bring optimistic.

{Ed002's Note - David Marshall is the target right now.}

1.) 06 Jun 2014 19:12:57
Ed002, what are the chances that Marshall could at Arsenal next year?
And what are the chances we here of a new signing after Saturday?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot quantify the chances of things happening.}

Hey guys
I have no connections with the club and couldn't find anythin about it online but
My friend told me Gundogan and his agent were at the emirates for the Everton game. Any truth in this at all?
Would be an awesome signing
Thanks

Is it just me that's praying for Reus now it's pretty clear Alexis has decided (pretty much) he won't extend.
Left sided attacked. Proven quality. Even has an injury record to rival Arsenals best. Match made in heaven, no?

Reus is out injured for a while and is one of the most injury prone players in the world . shame because he's one of my favourites.

2.) 15 Jul 2017 00:12:16
reus could of been immense i'm afraid we will never see that happen.

Is it just me who's not only frustrated by the lack of activity In the market, but worried by the standard of player we're being linked with. Lacazette, Mustafi, Toprak, Kjaer. All good players. But a club with the ambition of Arsenal should surely be trying for a Varane or a Reus.
While I want players to come in its just discouraging knowing we're not going to get a world class player in. And I can't understand why. Our last 2 big money signings have been total successes, barring Xhaka as he obviously needs time. We need another name like Alexis or Mesut. And after the Liverpool game we need something to spark our season.

As wenger tries to tell everyone, you buy the player, not the price tag. My problem is who is our target and why don't we get them. Leaving it late and buying who is left or available seems a bit hit or miss for me. You identify the players you want and get them, we ard haphazrd in that respect, . We didn't target ozil, he became available, not sure about sanchez, we didn't target cech, he became available. While you can get good players still, you don't solve problems like that. If a top team needs a striker, a defender, a midfielder, they target them and get the player for the job, we get the best bargain.

2.) 16 Aug 2016 17:22:03
Rumour has it, we got Sanchez because Messi wanted him out of Barca.

Just saying :-)

(But, signing a player of Sanchez's stature takes a lot of effort, so I'm taking nothing away from Arsenal) .

3.) 16 Aug 2016 18:02:42
I agree Steve, it seems some players have fallen into our lap to some extent.

4.) 16 Aug 2016 17:33:26
Steve we know who our main target was, it was vardy and now Wenger IS trying to get who's left because he wouldn't join us.

5.) 16 Aug 2016 20:01:55
Dags - We got Sanchez, because Barcelona needed the funds to pay towards Suarez. We got Ozil, as Real needed funds to pay towards Bale. They were very shrewd moves by Wenger. The problem is that sometimes as a big club, you need to splash out and pay more than the going rate in order to secure quality players. Xhaka seems a good acquisition. However, surely we could have signed a CB and striker before the start of the season if we paid the price.

6.) 16 Aug 2016 20:44:07
Crybaby I agree but you don't put your eggs in one basket and if you do you don't stop untill they hatch. If he was eengers only choice, he should not have stopped until we got him.

{Ed025's Note - he was offered a great deal by arsenal steve but decided he wanted to stay at leicester mate, theres nothing you can do about that mate..

7.) 16 Aug 2016 20:46:06
Rg I have said before if xhakas signing means we haven't enough money for the important places, it was a poor signing. We should have all bases covered and we obviously didnt.

8.) 16 Aug 2016 20:47:49
Rg sunday we were struggling at center back and striker. Xhaka didn't start and we had midfielders on the bench, no striker or center back.

9.) 16 Aug 2016 21:11:03
Ed I agree but by all accounts, it was a bit of an half hearted effort to get our number one target convinced he should join the great arsenal. As I understand sounding out had been done and there was originally some sort of understanding he was open to leave leicester. Saying that our striker persuit in the last three years has been laughable.

{Ed025's Note - i cant defend arsene or the club on that score steve, a severe case of shooting onesself in the foot i believe mate, but time yet to make that marquee signing.... you never know in football they say..

10.) 17 Aug 2016 11:45:34
All we can do is offer a deal! What do I want is to do throw him a party with arsene dressed up and all the players with banners. At the end of the day the size on the club should have been enough but he wanted to stay that's his choice not arsenal or wenger's fault, but I am sure I'll say different in your reply as I don't like other opinions.

We MUST sign Fabby back this summer.
When he was linked with a move last year I had no doubt he'd stay put, an when it came back around this summer I thought the same. But then Barca saying they want to let him go and Chelsea an United sniffing even closer should be a signal for mass panic for us. Especially with 'experts' saying were distancing ourselves. I thought that when Wenger heard he was available he would have just said 'why isn't he here now?'
I know we have quality players to play CM, and he won't be cheap, but this is The Arsenal. At some point next season Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott and the Ox will all be out injured, probably at the same time knowing our luck. You couldn't get a better replacement than Cesc.
Letting another Prem team improve their squad MASSIVELY by adding Cesc would be a terrible mistake, because I truly believe if he had the choice between us and any other club, it would be us.

I agree we've looked better, for the last 2 games. Before the Chelsea performance we can't say we played well at all this year. Dismantled by Liverpool, toothless against Leicester. If we keep this form up of course I'll be delighted. But I can't help but feel we have another 4 or 5 goal humiliation on the horizon. We're just too inconsistent and have been ever since 2004.

If we truly are turning to Johnny Evans, this club is in even greater turmoil than we all think.

Some betting sites have put us favourite for Lukaku now, thought all that talk died down. But again, £50mil plus price quoted, just can't see Wenger buying anyone personally :/.
