Any truth behind the headlines regarding Emi Buendia? I haven't seen much of him, but he seems highly thought of. I doubt we have £40m available prior to getting rid of one or two for proper money, rather than wage displacement.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what these "headlines" are. If it is "Buendia Not Joining Arsenal in January", then they are true.}

1.) 21 Jan 2021 11:50:05
Oh, okay then.

29 Nov 2019 09:56:39
Freddie ready to step in reports the Guardian. They have a thread on this currently, so I expect they know what Ornstein knows.

19 Oct 2017 14:02:05
It seems were are linked yet again with Benzema. One hopes its nonsense.

1.) 20 Oct 2017 07:01:20
Seriously and no jibe intended, but what top player is going to come to your lot with all the uncertainty at the moment? Wenger short contract, Ozil possibly going, Sanchez leaving.

At least if Wenger had gone at the end of last season the rebuild would have already started.

2.) 20 Oct 2017 08:50:04
Can’t argue with that mate. Too much uncertainty at the club. I’d even had taken arsene rebuilding at the start of the season than this situation we are in.

3.) 20 Oct 2017 14:00:56
Raver wannabe 😂😂😂.

4.) 22 Oct 2017 20:11:08
so tell me again Jelfy, which British teams have won at the bernabeu in the Champions League. 2009 ring a bell. and no that wasn't the European cup. and don't rely on talk sport fella or Oddbod.

5.) 23 Oct 2017 16:36:09
Benzema a top player?

03 Jun 2016 20:36:16
It seems we have triggered Jamie Vardy's release clause. A steal at £20m. I wonder if Wenger really is going to open the chequebook. Vardy and Morata would be a statement of intent, no?

1.) 03 Jun 2016 20:44:33
Well, that what sky sports is saying but I still want morata too. Not too sure if vardy suits our game plan, saying that vardy still will be a great addition to any team.

2.) 03 Jun 2016 20:55:21
The release cluases aren't applicable in the premier league.

{Ed002's Note - Just to be clear - this is another misunderstanding about "clauses". I am not interested about going in to detail but you need to step back from worrying about "clauses" and "finances". I will say that there is interest in Vardy from Arsenal.}

3.) 03 Jun 2016 21:08:38
Thanks for coming back ed.

4.) 03 Jun 2016 21:20:26
Appreciate that Ed002.

5.) 03 Jun 2016 21:48:47
Thanks ed002.

6.) 03 Jun 2016 22:16:34
Welcome back Ed02

Not sure I want Vardy but if we sell Gibbs and Ox - we need some home grown talent.

7.) 03 Jun 2016 22:26:49
Lets hope this doesn't drag on all through the summer and is sorted quickly. No 20 mil and a pound offers. If he's our target then get him.

8.) 04 Jun 2016 11:12:05
Sounds positive from Stevie 😁.

9.) 04 Jun 2016 00:32:54
I am personally cautious about the Vardy interest. I'm not sure how he'd do in our system. Would much rather see us move for Lukaku.

29 Jul 2014 13:51:21
Arsenal will sign either Khedira, Pogba or Schneiderlin within a week according to some agent chappy I met in Clapham today. Could be nonsense, but he seemed fairly certain. He also mentioned potential bids for Carvalho and Costa. Arsenal have lots of fingers in lots of pies he reckons!

1.) No offence but sounds like he just said every name he could think of if there is enough s**t something has to stick

2.) How did you happen to bump into an agent and discuss transfers?

29 Aug 2021 14:55:12
Please somebody tell me we are not going to replace Auba with Origi. I fear I may explode.

1.) 29 Aug 2021 16:41:21
I wouldn't put anything past this club at the minute. We're a shambles top to bottom.

28 Aug 2021 17:26:17
I'm usually not overdramatic, but he has to go. I don't care what the long term plan or vision is, if you can't get this bunch of players to do something, anything, better than that, then you ought not to be at this club. When you start with five at the back, you offer no confidence or belief that the game can be won, or even contested and that frankly is not good enough.

Arteta needs to go now before the damage gets even worse, and preferably followed out the door by that clown Edu, and before the end of the season, the American shower that is supposedly running this club.

We are not far away from becoming irredeemably mid-table with no greater ambition than to be dark horses for the FA Cup.

Rant over. For now!

1.) 28 Aug 2021 17:55:10
UC, I think you have bugged up our chances of mid table, we already are at -9 goal difference, scoring goals last season was a real issue, it could take quite some time to back to a + goal difference.

Norwich, Burnley and Brighton won’t be pushovers and then we also have the NLD in amongst those games . We could be bottom 3 well into October.

2.) 28 Aug 2021 19:16:07
Don't disagree with that mate, all very depressing.

16 Aug 2021 09:10:59
Media reports are always taken with a pinch of salt, but the Odegaard talk continues apace. I can't imagine that the difference between what RM want and what we are willing to pay can be that much. If they want the player, for goodness sake get it done. If he is available now, he has always been available; how much time do they want?

27 Jan 2021 09:09:51
Dare I imagine that we have turned a corner? Or, at least started to move on the right track.? I am hoping that Ødegaard turns out to be an inspired move.

1.) 27 Jan 2021 09:30:45
Let’s hope so, especially if ESR is injured as well.

2.) 27 Jan 2021 09:34:01
16 points from 18 mate, we can't be displeased with that! However, it's what we do against Utd and Wolves that will show whether we have made real progress or not. Uninspiring performances and losses to both of them and we'll be sat here saying the complete opposite.

3.) 27 Jan 2021 12:45:35
I think, we will not have any uninspiring performances in the next half, not sure what happened to us during the two months period but that should be the worst possible we could play. I admit I was anxious and wanted a change in the dug out but we have really turned a corner and we can only look upwards. We have got most of the away fixtures to top 6 out of the way which is also a positive. Wherever we finish let's hope that the spuds finish below us!

4.) 27 Jan 2021 13:36:50
I don't know about Bellerin being captain Lacazette would be my captain unless he's shy in the dressing room and else where. I know most think of KT but he's still young have time to wear the armband.

Pepe energy, pressing and running back was impressive last night which compliments the work Soares was putting in. Let's hope he's getting really hungry to play has he won't be seen on the right. PEA can smash and grab some goals but he doesn't put in such a shift and is one dimensional most of the time being force out left where he's less effective.

Honestly I think MA has been a bit luck with these things falling in to place for him.

5.) 27 Jan 2021 14:16:30
Come on yard, how can you say he’s been lucky

It’s up to him to pick the team and set up the formation

I think you need to give Arteta a bit of credit.

6.) 27 Jan 2021 14:59:04
I don’t know what MA has to do to get some credit he clearly has a great understanding of the modern game and has got players doing exactly what is asked by him and playing attractive football - give him some credit.

7.) 27 Jan 2021 16:29:18
We have 8 tough games in 28 days starting Saturday,
Home to Man U
Away at Wolves
Away at Villa
Home to Leeds
Away at Benfica
Home to City
Home to Benfica
Away at Leicester

This will test what we have.

8.) 27 Jan 2021 17:32:55
Malaga / 337 don’t get me wrong check my record on here in reference to MA. I pleaded his case before he gets the job and have not criticised him either. Throughout the seven game winless run I never fault him really. People, players, professional we all get some luck or rub of the green so to speak. Reading back it sounds as if I’m being critical but trust me I’m not.

To be more specific playing and in my opinion not criticism
Saka right is because Pepe was failing.
Playing ESR and Martinelli was because PEA and Willian being out at Chelsea.
Playing Pepe left last night was because of PEA absence.
Playing Soares at LB is because KT is out and AMN is ineffective.

To me this is now our best setup with the what we’ve got.

Even when we were languishing in 15th didn’t call fir his head or even thought he would get axed.

9.) 27 Jan 2021 18:16:55
Yard, it’s just expected more posts saying well done boss

Where is sy4, he’s quick enough on here when things are not going well.

10.) 27 Jan 2021 18:17:59
That’s the problem with text yardy lol it gets misinterpreted

You have to remember a coach can’t teach a cat to bark but if you show it enough it’ll try and what I saw last night was players which have looked out of place actually buying in to what MA is coaching them to do, he talks about this in interviews and he has a plan for every game, what they did last night was took what Southampton did to us on Saturday and reversed it back on them

I just wish someone could teach David luiz to defend 🤣.

11.) 27 Jan 2021 18:40:29
Mal 😂 SY4 Come out come out wherever you are 👀.

12.) 27 Jan 2021 19:59:43
You're right Malaga more positivity is definitely welcome, especially from me. But I try not to get too carried away when we win couple games or make a big signing. I'm hungry for more we've got to get back on top winning the league and CL, but importantly to get back to playing beautiful football- it's an art and should always be in our DNA.

13.) 27 Jan 2021 20:05:38
337, I just wish Luiz would go actually :)

Let's have Mari injury free he seems like a cool head with high level experience.

05 Jan 2021 12:16:29
Whoever we sign, if we sign anyone, the sooner the better would be a better approach than our usual last-minute acquisitions.

1.) 05 Jan 2021 14:24:58
Players need to leave first as publicly documented.

2.) 05 Jan 2021 16:21:30
Oh, thanks for that. My comment was not ignorant of that fact. Clubs can be proactive in getting rid of players, as has been publicly documented.

His apparent closeness to the club is part of Arsenal's problem. I for one would be happy if he simply disappeared.

No, certainly not, Manchester City operates in a market unafflicted in the same way as everyone else. You might add Chelsea to that. When Barcelona and Real Madrid cannot buy at the prices asked and we cannot even get rid of Bellrin on loan something has most definitely changed.

In this climate, almost everyone's expectations need to adjust. Valuations of 12-18 months ago mean nothing now.

{Ed014's Note - are you trying to tell me the hideously over rated Grealish was worth more than £100 million 12 to 18 months ago?

I am truly baffled by the interest in Ben White. I am told that Arteta is worried about Saliba's lack of experience in the EPL. If that is so he could have played him in gently or loaned him to an EPL side rather than packing him off to France. Either way, Saliba's figures do not suggest we need to spend £40m+ on a CB.

Quality players to go to CM, LB cover, RB, and possibly a striker if Laca/ Nketiah go. It's simple, but what do I know?

I don't think he's worse than Egil Olsen and his wellies. I may alter that view in the coming weeks.

I would imagine that given his inability to shift any players out, one way or the other, he can hardly be claimed to have met his targets. :)

I'm quite surprised, to be honest, he obviously tried hard to get out, but City clearly did not meet Spurs outlandish valuation. And given that few others have any money at all. there he stays.

Agree with that. The folly of our transfer and contract history is being cruelly exposed by the financial consequences of the C.V. - if we want to make changes, we cannot buck the market, and we cannot access the market unless we make room. I fear another dismal season.
