Hi Ed002,
Thanks for all the info and insight you provide. Are you able to offer any info on what's happening with Bruno Guimeres. Are we interested? Seems a deal has been struck with Newcastle ad struggling to understand why we aren't looking to sign him.

Thanks in advance.

Louis1913

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained before Arsenal has no interest in him. Lyon, like many French clubs, were hit hard by the loss of broadcast revenue and pandemic and like others are looking to sell players to raise funds. Newcastle have offered a solution that subject to a contract clause should see him make the move.}

1.) 26 Jan 2022 17:06:55
We can't be questioning the club or getting disappointed every time the club don't sign a player we fans like, it wouldn't be possible to sign them all. We just have to wait to see who they sign or not and them praise or critic after.

It's there day job and they have got more info on players than we do.

2.) 26 Jan 2022 17:45:44
Sorry yard mate but that’s rubbish. We needed a cm in the summer and stuck with Xhaka when he’s clearly not good enough. We let maitlan-Niles leave on the first week of January when Partey and elneny have afcons, xhaka a liability and lokonga still learning his trade. The club are run so poorly and all fans need to realise this.

3.) 26 Jan 2022 19:20:43
That is a fair point DG, but that doesn’t make Bruno Guimeres the correct replacement either. We all want the liability that is Xhaka shipped out, but as Partey has proved, just because you look good in another league doesn’t mean you will cut it in the premiership, even if you come in for serious money. So for me, yes I do want a replacement, but not from Europe. I want someone who is already playing well in the premiership, and that for me leads to Bissouma, or Ward-Prowse. Let’s leave Lyon and Newcastle to their business, they both deserve all they get.

4.) 26 Jan 2022 19:41:47
I’m afraid Dags is right, we knew what was coming up and we all know that Xhaka is a HUGE liability, blames lies firmly at the clubs door

Short sightedness at its best.

5.) 26 Jan 2022 20:01:48
I understand your point DG but I should actually stress is that we shouldn’t get too worked up over it. Every fan have a player or two they would like to see in the but we can’t have them all.

Of course I was expecting a midfielder at least in this window not because of loan or AFCON but because I haven’t though we were there.

We can still make top 4 if we use the squad wise, there’s nothing else to play.

Afternoon,
Having read through a number of posts regarding last nights game I felt I had to stick my pennies worth in.
A couple of questions to begin with:

Were the selected starting 11 not good enough to beat Zagreb?
Would we have got something from the game had Giroud not been sent off?
Had we not rotated last night and then lost to Chelsea, would you all be blaming Wenger?

This site is often so negative following a defeat. Most of the negativity is aimed at Wenger, who by the way does not even kick a ball during the 90 minutes of the game. I am not here to defend Wenger, but would like to understand how last nights loss falls on his shoulders as some of your posts suggest. The 'Wenger Out' and other comments are not justified following last nights defeat. The 11 selected were good enough to beat Zagreb and probably most teams in the EPL. Giroud is a fool for getting himself sent off, not Wengers fault, The OX is a fool for not tracking his man, not wengers fault and Ozil, Giroud, walcott etc are all fools for not finishing the chances created, again not wengers fault.

Please help me understand? We lost, THE PLAYERS were not up for it and GIROUD got sent off and gave us a mountain to climb. END OF.

Support the club, Support the players, Support the Manager. I honestly cannot get my head round fans who wish us to lose to see a change in management... please

I thought that arsene would want to put out what he believed to be his strongest 11 get the three points and get off to a good start. Steve r yesterday called the team that was named on the sheet because he obviously knows what wengers like.

The team he put out should have been good enough but it wasn't and I levelled criticism at the selection of arteta not arteta himself. With him in the team forced the whole dynamic and shape to change we had cazorla coming deeper than usual and big holes between mid and attack thus getting over run. In addition to this any balls that were then sent up for giroud weren't sticking and that was the start of his problems leading to decent because he was frustrated and the ref was not allowing him to use his physicality (coupled with a poor tech)

People are rightly annoyed if you love a club it stands to reason that you would get more upset than the passive fan.

A lot of people believe that arsenal can't perform under pressure and we have just turned up the heat with results like last night results that shouldn't happen. It wasn't just the defeat we were well beaten and never looked like winning pre giroud red card.

Teams are far to wise to arsenals style and teams with limited resources are now finding an almost bomb proof remedy to our play. We always just pass it around with no penetration. Opposing teams are happy to let us do this as long as they keep their discipline . We need a CF who makes intelligent runs. And ozil will find the ball.

2.) 17 Sep 2015 14:43:04
Ultimately, the manger, buys the players, does the training, prepares the team, picks the team, sorts the tactics and when he wins, gets the plaudits. If he doesn't he carries the can for the teams failings.

3.) 17 Sep 2015 17:00:55
I'm sorry but how can Wenger not take blame for last night?
He could have bought Schneiderlin but didn't so we play Arteta to give Le Coq a rest, the shape of the team suffered because Arteta hasn't got the legs for it.
Where was Belerin, if not injured then I'm afraid that was another mistake as playing Giroud rather than Wallcott meant we had no frightening pace making us one dimensional, their manager alluded to this afterwards which cuts deep coming from a team we should have rolled over.
Why no Cech?
I like Ospina and I'm not saying the result would have been different I just question why you make 3 changes in defence in your first group game?
It reeks of arrogance and disrespect and we got exactly what that deserved

4.) 17 Sep 2015 17:28:46
The team was rotated due to a busy schedule and two derby games approaching. Debuchy is an experienced international, as is Gibbs and Ospina did excellently when he replaced Schenzy last year. Those changes should not have meant a loss and in my opinion did not 'reek of arrogance', the players did not perform.
Should have bought Schneiderlin? how do you know that we didn't try? Perhaps he wanted to go to UTD? forgive me if i am wrong but he is not exactly cementing his sopt in the UTD team.

5.) 17 Sep 2015 18:16:37
As i said, I'm not saying it would have changed the result having Cech played but, to make 3 unforced changes in defence then play an inferior cdm with no legs due to age and no game time is crazy.
As for if we went for Spyder or not, I'd lay a fair amount of money on the fact we didn't and more on him choosing to play for us over United, but that's just my opinion

6.) 17 Sep 2015 20:05:51
You win the game first THEN rest who u want. I agree with a lot of the points that the players are to blame, but so is Wenger. Wenger/Arsenal embarrassed ourselves in the transfer market. Arteta should have never been given a new contract. A CF and.DM (that same broken record) were a must. Yesterday selection was wrong for me. Theo should be starting. He's scoring, we should be building his confidence. Giroud seems to be on a confidence suicide mission after those 2 bookings yesterday. Did we really need to "rest" Cech? he's not exactly up and down the flank. Coq and Monreal, atleast win the game and then withdraw players. Instead we finish with 10 exhausted players. Wenger definitely got some decisions wrong but no way was yesterday all his fault.

Anybody else not like the fact that people post under different names? not sure of the value in it and turns what is a good site in to a kids playground!

Louis1913

{Ed007's Note - I'm not happy about it all and anyone I catch will be banned and blocked, no matter who they are. I thought we were meant to be adults, we've got enough to do without people playing silly buggars.}

1.) My thoughts exaclty. I get that some people may have to create excitement in their lives, but it is unfair on the people that use this site for information and enjoyment. Its a football and Arsenal site, us gooners are supposed to have class!

2.) Its been a bummer.

3.) Am I missing something? I've not been using the site very much as some irritating little tottenham fan who's name escapes me was posting on everything and it was annoying me. Funnily enough, I look at the spurs page a lot also, and it seems that some arsenal fans post on there pretending to be spurs fans. Doesn't bother me too much, but I wouldn't like it if it was on here. But on to your original point, I hate dishonest persons who do stuff like that, so I hope whoever it was was banned. Though I guess it'll only be until the end of the school holidays because the sad acts that do it have got to be at school, or something really strange is going on in their lives.

Anybody else sick and tired of reading the posts on this site that state 'i hope we finish 6th' 'we need a wake up call' 'not finishing in a CL spot would do us good'?
Do me a favour! We are supposed to be supporters of our belived Arsenal, all too often have our own support been negative, moaned, groaned and boo'd! Our support is what the players thrive on. Get behind your team, anyone who 'wishes' us to finish outside the top 4, is not a welcome fan in my opinion. Spend your time and money elsewhere
Sing up for The Arsenal, Motivate the team and the club!

Louis1913

1.) 09 Apr 2014 19:40:00
Totally agree. I do not want to finish outside the top 4. I would like to think the powers that be at our club have had a wake up call without having to drop outside the top 4.
I must admit though. If we didn't get top 4 (What's the atheist version of God forbid?) I wouldn't have a problem if we didn't qualify for the Eurovision cup.

2.) LOUIS
top man
, I feel some people here are spurs suppoters, they want us to fail.
respect

3.) 09 Apr 2014 20:05:07
I still want us to get 3rd, someone else to have an end of season nightmare.

Can't we have had our blip and pass the baton to one of the other 3. Pretty please.

4.) As the person who started the whole if we fail to make the CL it might have a silver lining thing I would like to clear a couple of things up.
I and neither anyone else I've read has said they hoped we wouldn't finish 4th or above just that if it did happenit would force the board into a drastic change of policy on spending and out look.
As the quite American has said 4 th is success more than once.
As for wanting the team to fail? Up until the last few weeks I have tried to put a positive on everything as I believed we were going forward as a team but recent events and lack of effort have sickened me as I can't forgive lack of effort for or pride in the club on the pitch
If that makes me a spurs fan!what can I say

{Ed025's Note - you can say...ooooooooohh whhhhheeeeennn thhhhhhhhe spuuuuuuuuuuuuurs gooooooooo maaaaaaaarch iiiiiiiiiiiiing iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin like all the other drones at the lane.. :)

5.) That is one lame ass song

6.) How's it go again Ed? :-)
If the Leatherhead reserve fans won't have me I might need to learn it.

{Ed025's Note - you need a lobotomy first G62 mate..

7.) There's still hope for me Ed, Leatherhead reserves say they will take me if their bids for CTR and Valleyyid fail

{Ed025's Note - i will ask daveyboy to start a supporters club for you mate..

8.) I'm with G62 on this one.

9.) G62, you down in leatherhead? Man we should meet up if so. hahah

Hi Eds,

With all the Draxler speculation, Vucinic and now Matuidi, who would you put your money on Arsenal signing? Are you able to confirm as to whether it is media talk or if there is any substance to the stories?

Thanks in Advance.

Louis1913

{Ed027's Note - I don't think any of them are on their way. Vucinic staying according to agent. Draxler too expensive. Matuidu, well the PSG owner said there will be consequences if a club signs Matuidi. Remember he said he'd buy Messi of Barca bought Thiago Silva?

1.) Thank you for your response.

Do you think that we will sign anyone? Surely we have to.

29 Aug 2013 12:45:51
There is only one website stating that we have made a bid for Di maria and that website is possibly one on the most unreliable. I am now starting to believe that there will be no signings apart from Flamini. Ed what can you see happening? Whatever the weather I will be there singing up for the Arsenal on sunday! through thick and thin!

We have a chance to.

Klopp is facing relegation and Simeone still in proven in my opinion.

The players have let the club, fans and manager down. Not the other way round. Do we miss a dm and world class keeper yes. does the squad have the ability to win big, yes.

It's the constant manager bashing that get me

{Ed001's Note - Klopp is midtable!}

You hope we don't win a cup? You call wenger poison... you seem to be the poison, you and others like you that bring neagtive energy to the game. I remeber you asking for Martinez to replace Wenger, that would have turned out well.
At the start of the game the 11 players on the team sheet were more than capable of winning. An off night, missed chances and mistakes cost us the game. Explain how that can be Wengers thoughts.

Wenger's win percentage has been higher than any other of our previous managers for each season he has been in charge. including Chapman and Graham. I don't disagree that there are things that frustrate and that we didn't address the areas we needed to in the summer, but to say he has 'performed unbelievably badly' is just an over reaction. The club tried to bring in a MF and DF but it didn't happen. that is obvious to see from Wenger's interviews.
It is what it is, every single one of our midfeild and attacking players would get a game at another top side, as would Kos and Gibbs. The players are not performing well, why does that automatically mean that Wenger should leave? The formation change is so slight, any player erning over 1k a week should be able to adapt. The buck for me stops with the players. Each team sheet reads well and shows you on paper that we should beat most teams in the league. Confidence brings top performaces, support the club, the players and the manager. I predict a long time out of the top 4 should Wenger move on with out handpicking and handing over to a manager of his annd the clubs choice.

Ed007,

Would you like a cuddle? something has obviously rattled your cage.

Welbeck is an upgrade on Sonogo and has a decent start to his career with Arsenal. that's fact. Is he world class? Not yet. Will he be? Who knows?

Your attack on Maidstone Gunner and Arsenal fans as a whole seems to derive from a hatred for our club and its supporters, where does that come from? I was of the opinion that you were here to edit the site and provide an insight in to football that fans do not have through your network of contacts, not slag off the sites users or individuals from certain clubs. Shame reall.

Louis1913

{Ed007's Note - A cuddle from you? Mate if you seen me you me be so much in awe of me you wouldn't be able to speak never mind move to hug me, I'm well out of most common people's league. People pay me just to be seen in my company knowing the advantages it brings to their miserable lives.
I don't dislike Arsenal in the slightest but I do dislike idiotic sanctimonious ar$eholes trying to have a pop at me over sommthing that had nothing to do with the thread, why have a pop at Ssottish football at all in the thread?
I was of the opinion that I'm not here to take random digs on any subject that pops into someone's pea sized brain, it works both ways, I suppose I could have just blocked him for trolling.}
