Gabriel Jesus deal agreed with city. Arsenal pressing on deals for Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez.

With Nuno Tavares to go out on loan. Bellerin getting interest from Athletico Madrid (that is a good one and bend Leno in discussions with Fulham)

The window is looking cute. I believe the departures last summer and also in January made it possible for us to pursue signings early as we know what we need and does not rely on departures before signings.

I hope we land Raphinha and Martinez. Tielemans looks certain to me to sign for us. We are not in a rush because he is ours to lose.

Why do we need Martinez? If Gabriel stays, saliba and him are the stand out pair for me.

2.) 25 Jun 2022 17:42:36
He can play LB and DM as well.

3.) 25 Jun 2022 17:47:04
Where is all this money from surely we must sell for three ffp reason.

4.) 25 Jun 2022 22:04:37
To be honest, we need a back up left back. We also need another defender, ideally left playing center back.

We also need a defensive midfield cover. Lokonga did well but I consider him raw.

We do not have the money to recruit for all these positions one window. That is why Martinez makes a lot of sense.

However, Martinez is not coming in as a back up. He is a baller, and can easily challenge Gabriel, and tierney for starting spots.

That is healthy for a team that wants to succeed.

5.) 25 Jun 2022 22:39:04
Doesn't he play the same position as Saliba? If we sign him it seems like it will be dependent on selling.

6.) 25 Jun 2022 23:43:10
It is not dependent on selling. We are getting him to strengthen the left back position + provide cover for left center back.

Nuno Tavares is leaving on loan.

7.) 26 Jun 2022 14:54:16
Not sure you sign a player for the reported £43m as cover? If he comes it will be to play, which is great, but might mean other players in that position are sold. Ed has always said Saliba staying is not guaranteed and maybe he would be the one to go? Seeing as we have a policy of signing young players with future potential that would be crazy though, as he probably is top of that list.

8.) 26 Jun 2022 17:15:35
It doesn't sound like he wants to be at Arsenal Epping mate, he accepts he has to return and honour his contract but what's the point in letting him simply run down his contract then leave for free.

There is obviously bad feeling between him and the club because of whatever has gone on between them and sadly I think it would be best for all concerned to let leave and cash in while we have the chance.

Good player and it's a shame things have gone as they have since he joined us but no point in biting your nose off to spite your face.

9.) 26 Jun 2022 23:43:30
I do rather fear we are spending cash we don’t have G62, and therefore whether he has settled his differences with us or not, it may be we need to sell him to help balance the books anyway.

25 Jun 2021 19:31:52
David orstein: we are close to signing Ben White for £50m.

Christ Wheatley: we are also close to signing Lokonga.

I am super excited about these two incomings. They are solid solid signings for me.

Get Xhaka out and get us Bissouma or Sander Berge.

Get a number 10. Sell belerin nd Get replacement.

Get back up for tierney. And we are ready.

By the way, mavropanos is leaving. All the best to the lad.

Ozil finally leaving. Thank for the 8years with us.

I can still remember clearly when we signed him, the hope he brought to our football club.

He took the number 11 shirt and in the 11th minute, gave a sumptuous assist to Giroud against Sunderland after a nice pass from kierran Gibbs. That was his first game for Arsenal. On a yellow outfit.

It is a shame to see you go like this, for the club, fans and for you as well.

The damage is done already. If I was Auba, Lacazette, Pepe, I would be devastated all along as to why my coach will keep such a player out with no back up.

But we move on. I wish you the very best in your new chapter.

Rumours coming out that Arteta relationship with Willian and Luiz has soured.

And they are now pushing for Edu (kia man) to get him sacked.

I will take that with a pinch of salt judging by Edu's recent comment on the future of Arteta.

The media is clearly not in Arteta's favour anymore and I wonder how long he is going to last there.

Harrison1822

1.) 22 Dec 2020 00:24:40
Gosh, how Willian could possibly have an issue with the man playing him every week despite his truly atrocious performances is beyond me. I'd have dropped him to the bench for Pepe, Nelson or Smith-Rowe months ago now.

11 Dec 2020 23:54:23
Judging by reports, We have lost Dominik Szoboszlai. He is to join RB leipzig for just €25m.

I would have loved him at Arsenal, very creative, with quality deliveries. He is also a free kick specialist with huge eye for goals.

What do we have left for January? Aouar? Beundia? I don't think we can pay their asking price. Fingers crossed.

We need to sort out creativity. Arteta Please!

Ed002 told us this before that he will join Leipzig. Hi Ed, do you know who else arsenal might target in January?

{Ed002's Note - Omar Rekik (CB) will join and I think a loan is likely. Money remains are an issue so much depends on departures and how the club handle new contracts.}

2.) 12 Dec 2020 14:17:47
Thanks Ed. Glad to have you back!

3.) 12 Dec 2020 18:18:53
Nice to clear some dead wood and buy another beast of a cb that would be a nice Christmas and a playmaker to top it off.

4.) 12 Dec 2020 16:26:37
Ed just a quick one, I think lacazette has 18months left, do you expect him to leave?

{Ed002's Note - There is a push from one quarter to move Alexandre Lacazette on whiclst he has some value.}

I actually don't get it when people come here to ask Ed002 for transfer updates.

It is a site to discuss arsenal topics and share our football knowledge. Lately i do not find the answers insightful either. You can get transfer news from David Orstein, Fabrizio and others.

the Eds, and contributors can post/ reply to transfer updates if and when they have any and if they want.

It’s all down to who you trust

I can remember information that Edoo2 told us then 3 months later the trusted media come out with it

Ok sometimes the odd player slips through on him but 99.9% he’s on the ball

I’ll stick with Ed.

2.) 02 Aug 2023 13:49:49
I stick my missus, she is always right??.

3.) 02 Aug 2023 15:33:10
I'm with you Bill, I'm only sorry it took me so long to see this. Since I accepted everything was my fault and my wife was right about everything we've never argued once, no more cooking my own tea, sleeping on the couch, doing my own washing or going without anything.

I only wish I'd wised up years before I did.

4.) 02 Aug 2023 16:38:46
You got there eventually 62 mate
That's what counts????.

5.) 02 Aug 2023 17:20:24
And we usually are! ? ? ? ? ?.

6.) 02 Aug 2023 18:09:09
Your right Sally, ?????.

7.) 02 Aug 2023 18:28:23
I second that Sally.

Hi guys, I know we all were excited for this season after our summer signings and the return of Saliba.

What are your predictions/ expectations for this team. We have seen the palace away game, did it get you even more excited? Or you lost some of the excitement already?

And as we read in the media, two more incomings at least.

Wanna hear our thoughts. Leicester up next.

Harrison1822

1.) 12 Aug 2022 07:52:26
It's a 10/ 10 start for me Harrison mate, away win at Palace 2 goals for and none against;what more could we ask?

I know some people would have possibly been a little disappointed and expected preseason performances and results in the premier league but that was never very likely to happen, once the premier league starts its all serious stuff with every team and manager desperate for points in every game

3pts from a possible 3pts what more?

{Ed014's Note - game at a time for me mate, team is young and will be gelling together with the new additions.

All about building momentum, really want Arteta to succeed with this group as for me they do have the potential to do really good things.

I want most of all, zero weakness in mentality, that will be the huge bonus.

2.) 12 Aug 2022 08:15:38
I didn't see any of the pre-season but hearing some of you lads talk about it, and seeing the highlights, I did get quite excited.

And then the first game rolled round. Yes, we won and we didn't concede. Brilliant stuff! Chuffed to bits really. However, you could still see the lapses in concentration and some of the defensive frailties that we've seen in seasons past. Bigger and better teams would have punished us on the day.

I do think the club are trying to put together something special here. Something definitely has changed. Our transfer business does seem to be more focused than in previous years. We seem to be buying for the right positions. The lads do seem to be playing with a bit more swagger about them. So lots and lots of positives and a reason to be hopeful for the future. COYG!

3.) 12 Aug 2022 10:36:10
3rd with a serious push for the top 2.

I think we were closer than people give us credit for last season and bar a bit of experience (player and manager) and a top striker I believe we would have chased down Chelsea.

The squad is not only improved but also a year older with a full pre-season together, and I am sure Arteta will have grown from the experience last year.

the palace performance was OK but there were not many great performances from any team in the league really, clean sheet, 2 big saves from the keeper (and some silly distribution) , and a win at a ground that was the toughest for the top 6 last season.

I'm, not as convinced as most with Tottenham's business, the biggest threat from them this season is the manager who is top top draw.

Chelsea I believe will struggle, I think they were lucky last season and the rest are not good enough.

COYG!

{Ed014's Note - nice positive post mate but I think Spurs will be a different proposition this season.

We need to see how they and ourselves fair in our first big game to be honest. They have theirs Sunday, we’ve to wait a while longer before we actually meet them in October for our first real test.

4.) 12 Aug 2022 11:06:12
I expect Spurs to do well but if Conte doesn't extend beyond next summer it could be a different matter for them next year.

After watching the last 3 episodes of All or Nothing it becomes obvious how much team spirit plays a part in success. They really seem like a strong unit atm and our youngsters can only get better. I still think the defence will have a wobble but boy does Saliba look the real deal! Early days of course and as our back line are still young we must expect a few hiccups. As mentioned, one game at a time is the way to go I reckon.

But after all that I expect 4th :)

5.) 12 Aug 2022 12:42:20
I'm pleased with the result at Selhurst because these are the results that tripped us up last season. It wasn't so much about beating the other big teams, Arteta showed us he is capable of this already, it was about getting those expected results instead of falling apart like we did last season.

I think that was largely due to the owners reluctance to spend in January - the rest of the team was good enough but our strikers let us down. As far as I'm concerned this was really the expected trajectory, so I'm pleased, but not surprised.

{Ed014's Note - I think Sally covered it in respect of expecting some hiccups and hopefully they’ll be minor ones whilst the grow and learn.

I think we’re all happy that things are improving and fingers crossed they continue on that trajectory as it can only mean good things.

6.) 12 Aug 2022 15:34:00
Things have definitely changed. None more so than the atmosphere in the stadium, fans can sense we are at long last building towards something special. Investing in young players plus a young manager is the right way but can be a long road
Stopping the season for 6 weeks imo will have quite a effect on how this season pans out
For me I am looking at top four and a trophy.

7.) 12 Aug 2022 19:11:39
As ed0014 said its going to be a game at a time this season for me. We've got some serious talent in the squad and have further complimented them with good signings. If the idea and execution comes through, i reckon we're in for a cracker of a season. As a romantic, i'd wish for nothing more than that. A hella young squad with unmeasurable potential. How can i not be giddy about the new season :)

8.) 12 Aug 2022 19:38:18
For me the CP game left me with slightly mixed feelings. Yes it was a great result, and more importantly, we kept a clean sheet. If we keep say 10 more clean sheets this season versus last, we will be right in the mix. As in cricket, where they say batsmen win you matches, but bowlers win you titles, I think it’s similar in football. Strikers win you matches, but defence wins you titles, and so I really liked the look of our determined defence. Not so good was how we switched off in the 2nd half. This allowed CP to have good chances, and they really should have equalised, and if they had, I would like to have see how we responded, hopefully differently to last seasons opener implosion! Maybe those pre season games had got me overexcited, but I also still find a lot of our play a bit dull. Hoping with the movement Jesus gives us we will start to try and make opportunities to slip balls in behind defenders, and forcing opposition teams to drop deeper, rather than playing all our football sideways and all in front of the pressing opposition defence.

9.) 12 Aug 2022 20:23:21
I personally think it's all about expectation if you start expecting 4 0 Chelsea wins and 6 0 Savile thrashings to transfer into premier league performances and results you are highly likely to be left disappointed but if you can manage your expectations and just accept what comes it's a lot easier to be happy with a good win at a tough place like Palace.

Anyone expecting to challenge Liverpool and City is not necessarily wrong but their expectations are sky high and less likely to be fulfilled.

10.) 13 Aug 2022 07:35:24
It is nice to hear your views and see the positivism around, the excitement. The same way, I am very positive about this season.

My expectation is 3rd place, to push for 2nd place of course. And a trophy (Europa league? FA cup? )

EDs, I would like your opinion on the unprofessional attitude from Torreria.

In my own eyes/views, torreria acts very childish with all the talks he and his agent send to the media.

Harrison1822

{Ed014's Note - to be fair to him he was told by Arteta he wasn’t part of his plans and has gone out on a couple of loans the latter of which they didn’t make permanent so he’s just saying he’s not wanted so he’s off.

They just need a club willing to stump up £13 million, which I think is what they’re asking for him and for me that’s pretty cheap.

Fingers crossed he gets a club, I’ve no I’ll will against him and hoped he’d be part of the squad but not to be.

1.) 22 Jul 2022 16:27:13
Thanks Harrison. What a great post.

2.) 22 Jul 2022 16:36:35
As far as I remember he wasn't really able to settle in England so I can understand Arteta not seeing a future for him here.

3.) 22 Jul 2022 17:04:21
It’s a shocker…he’s another player barely given a chance to show what he can do for us. Height’s not everything (look at Kante) he’s exactly what we were lookin for, someone that’s in your face everywhere you turn, biting ankles!
I hope he goes on to have a great career and at £13m well that’s a steal for someone in my eyes.

4.) 22 Jul 2022 17:25:47
Not sure what happened here, but my comment was meant for your other post and not this one.

Guys, 1 Watched the Orlando game again at 2am, . In the First half, it was a dismal performance.

I feel Arteta intentionally crafted that first half squad to show the Club owner and his entourage the big difference between his B team and his A team.

In the First half, it was
Ramsdale, Mari, Holding, Tavares, Cedric
AMN, Elneny, Lokonga,
Martinelli, Pepe, Nketiah.

The team lacked it in every aspect. Only outstanding performers was Nketiah. And okayish performance from Lokonga and Martinelli

Tavares, Mari, Holding, AMN, Pepe all showed why they need out ASAP.

Positives: second half saw the A team. The big boys. I also saw for the first time, a back line of Gabriel, Saliba and White.

Just my opinion: The threat posed by Gabriel Jesus, Nketiah, and Saka is more dangerous than a Martinelli, Jesus and Saka.

It was the best, most exciting and energetic team I have seen In a long time under Mikel Arteta (not withstanding the absence of Tierney, Tomiyasu, Viera, & ESR)

I am very excited for the upcoming season.

I stood awake late in the night to watch us play against Everton. I was very excited at the taught of watching Saliba and Gabriel Jesus.

It was just a pre season but I can tell that our players looks ready. Saliba really impressed. Oh Partey, football just comes natural for him.

Bellerin and Tavares needs to go out on loan again. Preferably sell Bellerin if offer comes in.

Lokonga has talent but no way he can trusted with the work that Partey or even Elneny does. Not at this stage. His game has this laziness about it

Pepe still can’t impress even in pre season.

We need a Paqueta, someone to play that advanced 8 position instead of Xhaka as we saw in the second half

Shambo, sorry but I don’t understand where this negativity is coming from?

The club is chasing their targets and of course, looking for players that improves the team.

Gabriel Jesus is a statement signing. One that changes the dynamics of our attack.

We are looking to get in a midfielder and a winger.

What else do you want?

It is not dependent on selling. We are getting him to strengthen the left back position + provide cover for left center back.

Nuno Tavares is leaving on loan.

White did amazingly well against Zaha in number 2 position. I was more worried by Gabriel, d defender. He really looked shaky and also looked shaky in pre season.

Now I am even confused who should partner Saliba?

Odegaard was completely out of the game yesterday.

Aside Odegaard and Gabriel, I really enjoyed the game and more of it please.

Arteta said again we are looking to complete our planned transfers in the next weeks. So two or one more incomings.

The excitement is so great ?.

I read the full interview on The Athletic. I agree with almost everything he said.

I was intrigued as he mentioned that the plan was to get seriously competitive and return to Champions league in 2022/ 2023 season. Which is now.

That kind of puts the pressure on all of them (Edu, Arteta) to deliver this season and I like that honesty.
