Just how good did Saliba look, very tough place to make your debut . Jesus was electric in the first half especially.

For me he was one of our best players last season and was great last night

Mal I just don't like divers. I'd make it a straight red and it would soon stop. Bit harsh I know and perhaps people would be sent off wrongly but I just don't like the mindset that thinks cheating is OK.

Sally, as far as I know, last night's dive is an isolate event for Xhaka. Most people here have a long standing dislike of Xhaka, and rightly so. However, like Mal said, he has been one of our most improved players.
Having said that, I'd still like someone new to come in. In fact, if we were going to buy anyone from Liester, I'd prefer it to be Wilfred Ndidi.

I totally agree Xhaka has been excellent recently and we are a different team when he doesn't play but. its the mindset I don't admire. Not just the diving, the playing innocent when he is obviously at fault etc etc. I like him as a person after listening to him talking on camera but this faultline in his personality makes me nervous. Saying all that, overall I think he is a plus for the team.
On another matter, how about a fan song for Saliba?

he was excellent Saliba for his first game, just wonder what's going to happen when Tomiyasu is back fit will white drop to bench cause I think Saliba deserves to keep his place. Be excited to see what Fabio Vieira brings to the table once he is up and running too. Things look good atm, although Jesus keeping fit I think is key now. Another winger would not go a miss but a bit 50/ 50 on Teilmans tbh not sure he is needed but will add to depth so would be dissapointed if he signs.

Just echoing echoing what everyone has said about Saliba. He will make mistakes but wow what a prospect. If Fofana has had a bid for £60 mill plus rejected how much is Saliba worth as he carried according to ED001 Fofana at St Etienne? And if Cucuella is worth £60 mil how much is Tierney worth? A couple of heart in mouth moments but also two great saves from Ramsdale particularly from Eze, points winning saves. Not getting carried away but very excited by the rest of the season. Also will be much stronger with KT and Tommy as full backs and Zinchenko will strengthen the midfield too. COYG Think we need a midfielder and definitely a forward who can play across the whole front.
{Ed001's Note - ah come on, Tierney is not in the same class as Cucurella, and he can't stay fit for more than half a season. Cucurella was the best left-sided player in Europe last season. Fantastic player.}

Very impressed with saliba first time I’ve really seen him play… xhaka is a liability I was waiting for the second yellow to come any minute and drop us in it again… thought white and odegaard were shocking as well… but impressed with the resilience we showed in the 2nd half….

Fair play Ed, Pep and Tuchel wanted him so what do I know. Red tinted spectacles regarding Sir Kieran I guess. Still KT is a very good player who does need to stay fit obviously. Didn`t realise Cucurella was that good. Saliba worth a fortune though COYG.
{Ed001's Note - Tierney is good, but Cucurella is top class and Barca made a huge mistake letting him go. Saliba is a brilliant player too.}

KT is going down in value season on season not because of his ability but because he can’t stay fit, when we first signed him I posted on here how many months he’d been on the treatment table, nothings changed sadly.

Mal, I was bashing xhaka and I agree with that he has improved and has the experience need it in the team, I wouldn't mind an upgrade or even a competition for him. My problem with him is he's got that idiotic moment which can leave us exposed and put us in trouble. He did a massive block last night and did fairly well but as Banbury said a second yellow could have us in trouble and you'd have questioned him.

Wilfred, xhaka was shocking? How? He was up against one of the trickiest winger in the PL and did well to contain him.

Late to party again, but nice win on Friday.
Not sure I would continue to play White at rb he just hasn’t got the pace and you could see that was Crystal Palace’s game plan in the 2nd half to isolate him against Zaha.
In defence of Xhaka I don’t think it was an actual dive, but expectation and momentum to collide with the player, which never happened.
