The other day against Forest really exposed how silly it is to keep these ageing squad players who are depreciating in value.

If we cannot rely on Cedric and Holding to be reliable against lower league teams, and every year that goes by reduces their transfer value, why do we keep them? I don't think it's a stretch to ask the club to play the cups the Wenger way, fielding a youth team sprinkled with a couple of leaders.

That said, I loved the run-out for Patino but he didn't get enough support. He and Sambi both looked too green without someone like Ainsley or Xhaka to back them up.

Was White any better?

Where are these leaders?

White has proven he's first team material, though, and put in lots of great performances in the league for us. I don't think I've been impressed by Cedric or Holding in a very long time.

I think White has been decent for us too Wire mate.

I personally think it's unrealistic to throw a bunch of players together and expect excellence from them, it's difficult for an individual to produce excellence when not getting regular football but when you ask a bunch of individuals to come together and blend instantly you are asking a lot. Sometimes it happens but quiete often it doesn't.
A squad that is light in quality has to make choices where it's priority lays, lots of teams fighting relegation chose league survival over a cup run.

Very fair g62. Perhaps you are right, that we can't expect squad players to look the part without the minutes to build on. At the same time, players like Tavares and Nketiah have been getting a fair whack this season and still managed to make a right mess of the last match.

Chambers should go if he can't get in the team ahead of Cedric!

I just think it's difficult when you make so many changes in one go, 1 or 2 can fit in with other players who have already established an understanding together but sticking a mish mash all together and expecting instant excellence is unrealistic.

If you play the under 23s who play together each week plus a couple of experienced players at least they already have an understanding of each other before the game.

As we all know lots of fans want and expect to win every game and if that doesn't happen they get upset and look for someone or something to blame.

If our best 11 gave that performance we'd definitely have something to worry about ?.

For me, we mostly suffered with a massively weakened midfield. The defence had no one to distribute the ball to, hence why White and Holding ended up having to carry the ball forward far too much. Never thought I would say this but perhaps we missed Xhaka? Movement up front was also poor, and for me it showed the difference between Ode and ESR. Ode needs others to spark, if they do, he will find them, if they don’t, he is devoid of ideas. ESR is the spark, either on or off the ball, we really missed his presence and drive.

ERS was our player of the Season before Ode was preferred, from game 1 v Brentford ERS stood out when others struggled badly.

Strange footballing decision but 30 million reasons to make it for other reasons.
