Well that was disappointing - hope the players enjoyed their Sunday evening stroll.

No leadership, no passion, no clue.

It was awful but better than dropping 3pts next Sunday, after all top 4 is our priority.

The league cup is our only path silverware but all roads ultimately lead to the Europa conference, and no one wants that.

The Cups are the only possible silverware and silverware is required to keep the likes of Saka… dropping out of the fa cup in such a way is just pathetic.

{Ed014's Note - they are not going to stay because we won the FA Cup SY, then need Champions League!

True but qualifying and getting knocked out early won’t cut it early but surely medals count. Let’s be honest he will want a epl medal.

{Ed014's Note - to a degree SY but not Caraboa and FA cups, the Premier League and Champions league are really the ones that count.

I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape about getting knocked out of a cup this year.

Saka’s performance was pretty pathetic if i'm honest, the team needs to take a big old look at its self after that display!

Yes he has carried us through some games over the past few years, but he will not look back on that performance fondly.

Remember when we beat City and Chelsea in the FA Cup against the odds are couple of seasons back, that's the magic of the FA cup.

Today against Forest? That was also the magic of the cup.

No one has or should have a monopoly on the magic of the cup or the magic would be gone as quick as you can say abracadabra.

I’ve taken your advice and i'm over it Ed.

Now I’m just frustrated at how ? we were and how the manager couldn’t get their head straight - never mind, at least we can co cent rate on a Top 4 finish without Europe or FACup distractions. We are ambitious. If we come 4th, it must be like winning a cup ?.

No 62 mate it was Arsenal thinking they have won it before they stepped on the pitch

Completely different approach from last week v City

Nothing to do with cup magic.

My point is Banbury mate if we can over come the odds and beat City and Chelsea are Forest not allowed to over come the odds too?

It's the cup, it happens, always has and fingers crossed it always will or there would be no point in the underdogs taking part.

If everything team played to their full potential in every game.

The league cup final Manchester City v Liverpool FC

The FA Cup final Manchester City v Liverpool FC

Premier league table would read City played 38 won 36, Liverpool played 38 won 36.

What fun.

This is one of the issues with going down the youth route with no experience. You could tell the team thought they could turn up and walk that game yesterday but hopefully they'll learn from it.
Fair play to Notts Forest. They thoroughly deserved the win. I mentioned in the chat that Spence at RB looks a quality player- wouldn't mind him as our cover in that position.

I think when you make so many changes you are asking a lot collectively from so many players who have been playing regularly.

Apart from White the defence had to make it up as they went along, it's brilliant when the opposition pay you too much respect and roll over but Forest exploited our weaknesses brilliantly.

I still think top 4 and champions league football is what we all want most so not really that much damage done long term.

Very true Gunner - but I want to compete in the tournament not just make up the numbers. I also want to feel our manager to manage the team so we can compete in the other cups at the same time. This will be even more important once in Europe as he will be forced to rotate players…. This is where the manager earns some of his / her stripes.

I always think with youth/ squad players that it's better to send them out to attack the game and hopefully outscore the opposition than to ask them to play the patient, slow build-up type game for 90mins. I think it's very difficult to maintain composure with so many inexperienced players who are unfamiliar with playing the system and with each other. I'd have preferred to see us go all guns blazing, put on a show and worst case go out in a blaze of glory, rather than fizzle out like a burnt out sparkler.

Hi SY of course more strength in depth is and will be needed even more if we ever get back into Europe, but one off cup games are and always have been fairly unpredictable by nature, even when all clubs played their best 11 in every round there were always upsets and giant killings mate.

Demanding your club wins or even has a long run in the FA cup is almost like demanding it doesn't rain on your long planned family BBQ mate, you can't always get what you want and both the weather and FA cup have the power to please or disappoint, sometimes you've just got to accept what comes with good grace, well you don't have to accept it but I've never found shouting at the rain made it stop or writing a strongly worded letter in the Times readers section made much difference either.

True but good planning and adjusting plans can still save the day as well as ensuring you have enough meat and beer.
