So like many, I didn't think we needed Ben White. However he is with us now, so I am getting excited about having an all English Central defence between him and Holding. I mean, last time we had an all English center back pairing, it didn't go too badly for us, so hoping we can regain that spine from the back that drove us so well.

Yeah same the jury still on White for the price we paid but we you always pay a premium for English it seems. He has to be a a upgrade on Luiz anyway for sure and I think overall as a unit our defence looks a little stronger now bringing him in. Difficult to know what our best 2 CB combos will be should imagine White will be straight in 1st team. Not sure where that leaves chambers now mind think he is just not going to make the grade now and needs selling tbh.

Personally unless we play a 3, I don't think Holding will start. It's nothing against him as a player but Gabriel and White make the back 2. Arteta prefers a right footed player as RCB and a left footed player as LCB and I prefer it that way. I look forward to seeing White and Gabby as our pairing 😁.

I think your 100% right to wait before declaring Ben White a bargain or over priced Ryan mate, none of us know how he will work out, I have very high hopes for him with us but I remember Pundits and fans declaring Pepe a bargain after 45 minutes v Liverpool on his debut and those same Pundits and fans declaring Mustafi to be the partner Kos always lacked after his first 3 games for us, I think around November time we will be able to make a fair assessment of Ben in an Arsenal shirt regardless of whether his first few games are brilliant or less than impressive.

As I say I have very high hopes for him but I've learnt enough over the years to not make any great claims one way or another before getting a good look at how he does with us.
