If we sell Xhaka and Willock for a combined fee of approx 30m then it just shows how desperate we are to raise funds. In this market that's embarrassing business in my opinion.

45m has to be the absolute minimum for both, surely?

I've seen several tweets this morning from Arsenal journalists saying that we are targeting 60m from sales before we buy. I guess that means just letting people go for next to nothing.

Everything that is for sale is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it Glen.

Meeting Arsene and chatting to him about Arsenal for 3 hours over a nice meal, what would you pay for that experience?

If I could arrange such an evening for you, what would pay me?

£100 £500 £1000?

If I said it's worth £500,000 would you agree to sell your house to pay it or decide for yourself what it was worth to you?

Exactly Gunner but that doesn't mean you have to accept it. If clubs aren't prepared to meet what you want or even come close to it then why do we entertain it?

If we agree to sell both of those players at the rumoured figure then I just think we are making ourselves more of a laughing stock than we already are. 30m for both is ludicrous.

Surely you have to agree with that mate lol.

So we just keep them, there is no way on the earth we will get the over inflated price we paid for Xhaka, his value has gone down, I’d expect no more than £35 million for the pair.

I would say Spuds are the laughing stock, pay off poch with 12 million then a year and a bit later try to get him back . yeah good business Levy lol.

The way I see it Glen is

We paid 35m for Xhaka and will probably get 15m back but equally we paid 25m for Tierney but would probably get more than 50m back if we sold him, their value is a reflection of thier performances for Arsenal.

No one anywhere is going to give us what we paid for Xhaka because he's decreased in value over the last 5 years, while last summer we'd have been lucky to get 10m for Joe but we can now get 20m because of his Newcastle performances his value has doubled.

Xhaka is only attracting low offers and that's not because no one likes him it's because few people rate him.

Football economics have completely changed, many clubs had unsustainable debt before the C.V., which has now completely changed the transfer landscape.

That is true D mate,

{Ed014's Note - there is no way that we can over price players like Xhaka and Guendouzi, we need to recoup whatever we can and move on.

If we just make unrealistic demands surrounding fees the we’re stuck with them which means we don’t move forward.

Hopefully Arteta has given a clear indication of who he doesn’t want and who he does want and just get on with it!

Exactly that Ed, we won’t move anyone if we demand crazy prices . Move them on and accept they didn’t produce and start again.

{Ed014's Note - it just worries me from what I’m hearing this side that, that’s exactly what we’re doing! 🤦‍♂️

Mourinho said: "Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can't see it unless I lend you one of my eyes. ” “Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans. "

I don’t see it.

{Ed014's Note - hopefully Arteta’s not seeing the same!

Agree 100% with DFor. The economics of football has changed. Top tier assets have maintained or even massively increased in value.

This will be seen should the likes of Kane, Rice, Grealish, and Haarland move during the summer. However as for the rest, there is no appetite, especially those earning premiership type salaries. Only the very top tier European clubs, like a Real Madrid would be able to match the kind of salary we pay people like Willian and Xhaka.

The next level of club, like your Seville or Roma, are already priced out from a salary perspective. Top tier clubs like Real Madrid are not coming for Willian or Xhaka, so the only way we can make them affordable to those next tier clubs is either through a loan only deal, or to complete a transfer with a much lower transfer fee so the receiving club can maintain the wage ( as no player is going to accept a pay cut and move just to help Arsenals bottom line unless the new club is prepared to give them a longer contract) .

This has been coming for a while, and yet we keep overpaying our assets from both a transfer fee and salary.

Jose says many many things, not all of them are wise or even what he actually thinks, but what he thinks serves him best.

I question why you would warn the current club of player that you genuinely hope they will sell you how lost they will be without him if give you what you want?

Imagine going to a boot sale and asking the seller " how much do you want for that watch? And they reply £5, you wouldn't say " you do know that's a Rolex worth 75k don't you?,

We should get €25m for Granit and you’d hope 20 to 25m for Willock. He’s hot property and goals win games. We should clear 42m for the combined sale although I’d keep Willock.

You would hope AMN 12 to 15m as he’s English, Bellerin 25m, Laca 20m Matteo 15m and 15m for Torriera, Eddie 10m, Mavropanos 12m plus a few other smaller sales.

Surely we can get over 140m from that clear out and free up wages

So - 30m RB, CDM 40m, CM 40M, CAM 40m, Keeper 10m, = 160m

Still need Keeper and Striker but mske do with Leno and hope pea wakes up

Concern- no leadership / real experience of winning but that’s the shopping is, e we are in until we improve.

I don’t think we will get anything for Torreira SY4. He has made it clear he wants to return to his home country, to a club that definitely can’t afford a transfer fee. Therefore I doubt he will sign a contract anywhere else so I think he will play out the final season of his contract either with us or on loan again until he can move home on a free.

15.) 28 May 2021

Torreira and his family don't enjoy England, and obviously home sick.

They are only human and no matter how much you pay someone they can't simply switch off their emotions and feelings.
