Where do you see this hypothetical squad finishing next season without the burden of European football?

I would move on Elneny and keep Xhaka in their personally. People can say what they like about Xhaka but when he's in the team we play better and it's so clear that we miss him when he doesn't.

I wouldn't play him over Partey and Bissouma but as a player to bring on, he would give us more balance.

Other than that, I like that squad!

Even if we had those players available to us next season, how often would they play together?

Would Mikel not chop and change, rotate and tinker?

It's no good Just having a fast car on the track if the man behind the wheel can't get the most out of it.

That first 11 and squad looks naughty. Absolute dream scenario, but can it all happen? I hope so.

For me, the squad clearly needs addressing, but more than that, the squad needs much more development on the training pitch. Is Arteta the one capable? I don't know, but he will have ample time on the training pitch to prove himself if out of Europe. If he fails next season without the travelling burden and pressure of European games, he has no excuses.

I think the transfers are realistic, given that there is every chance we will look to offload:

Laca
AMN
Willock
Nketiah
Bellerin
Toreirra
Guendouzi

All of which I think we can get an average of 20m each for (so potentially 140m! )

But I also agree with gunner - how long would it take for Mikel to realise his best XI with this squad, would he get them playing the football that he apparently hasn't been able to get out of our current squad? Surely if we don't push for top 4 with this he would have to go?

{Ed014's Note - if we got an upgrade on xhaka would he be happy being a squad player, is Elneny ok with being squad player?

I really like Buendia. That is a very achievable squad for Arsenal this summer too, which is grounds for optimism - though, I don't think Norwich will give us both him and Aarons. I think we have stayed away from buying domestically for a little too long.

That’s my thought Ed. Granit won’t be happy being behind Partey, Bissouma and Berg. I wouldn’t be happy him getting in front of these 3. Elneny might be happy and probably the most reliable 4th choice a club could ask for.


Like that side a lot. I’d like to see Pereira (WBA) and Dembele considered also

All this with a new manager please.

Yep, I excluded Xhaka as I believe we will look to upgrade on him this summer with Bissouma/ Berge etc but I don't think he will settle for being a squad player, whilst Elneny will.

Hi Conley I’m not sure about Leno and I can’t see Saliba and Gabriel being the main two in the back. Holding will likely play or there will be another experience defender bought.

I believe Martinelli will continue to come off the bench while Pepe and Saka starts.

Also not sure Auba’s heart his in it.
