I must say despite how disappointing Arteta has been this season, I don't see much commentary on how similarly Carlo Ancelotti has performed. Everton spent an absurd amount over the last couple of seasons but the results haven't come at all. Neither club has come out of the last 9 months looking great.

In 18/ 19 they were 16 points behind us
2019/ 20 they were 7 behind us
This season?

It's the same with Liverpool and Spurs, 5 years ago they were well behind us too but now both consistently finish above us.

But hey ho, we are merely going through what will be looked back on as our stagnation period which happened to coincide with other clubs progressive years.

It was just us and United for a few years then Chelsea got it together and were followed by City and now a host of clubs have overtaken us as we simply stood still.

I don’t see any point in comparing who has spent what, it’s about where we have fallen from and our own expectations, I’m not really bothered what others have spent, that won’t correct our appalling season.

Personally I think we have been firing at 7/ 10 for years and for a decade that was enough for 4th or on odd occasions where others did particularly badly 2nd or 3rd.

Our problem is the other clubs refused to stand still and suddenly our 7/ 10 was only good enough for 6th and 5th and now 8th or 9th.

Money simply hasn't and won't fix our problems, only a coach/ manager who can organise motivate and get the players 100% behind him and his methods will get us back on track.

It's pretty obvious some players don't enjoy Arteta and if that was only players who've been at the club years he could simly replace them but when last summers star signings don't flourish under his management then why will this summers signings do so? Partey and Gabriel arrived good players.

Realistically where do our ambitions lie?

While Man City and Chelsea can attract the outstanding players/ managers with their owners' millions do we really believe we will ever win the Premiership/ Champions League while their owners are still investing?

I think we should aim for the domestic trophies and to cultivate a wonderful-to-watch game with the aim of getting in the Champions League but not necessarily expecting to win it while we have the business set up we have.

For me, I would like to see beautiful football with players who play for the badge. What I find so disappointing atm is this doesn't seem to be the case with a lot of our guys.

Bring back the pride to play for this great club, Saka and ESR both have it in spades :)

I can't remember and can't be bothered to Google it but when Klopp took over Liverpool did they have European football?

Best of my memory in think they finished 8th or something under Rodgers the previous season although it might have been 6th, but wherever they finished they weren't in a good place and they didn't have huge funds available, Klopp got the most out of what he had and sold and bought wisely and season by season improved them until they became European, World and finally premier league champions.

It can be done from where we are now but not with a yes man as manager.

what we really need is new owners who share our interest and passion you get rid of Arteta and they will bring in Big Sam, I don't want that i don't think anyone else does either. I never wanted Arteta but once he became manager we have to get behind him he does not have the experience we like but for me he has not done much wrong. And if we don't have cut throat owners who will sack any manager for a wrong decision and replace him with someone better i'm Arteta in and Kronke out.
