Good win for Man U, and to think there was so much talk about OGS getting the sack - I think our squad is every bit as good as theirs.

{Ed077's Note - should we compare the squads?🤔

OGS
First half season 6th
1st full season 3rd
2nd season currently 2nd

The leage table doesn't lie

There have been ups and downs for OGS and United fans, high and lows but the progress is there for all to see as the leage position each season shows.

Can do if you want , I’ve no problem with that.

United fan here, partey and saka obviously get into our team as we have gaping holes in our midfield and right wing that need to be filled.

Dont really see anything past that where it is obvious the arsenal player is better than the united player.

Leno vs DDG/ Henderson - Toss up, all have had their fair share of gaffes in recent seasons. Leno better on the ball.
Tierney vs Shaw - Toss up as well, shaw has been quality this season whether people like to admit it or not
Maybe one of the centre backs tbf but let's be honest Arsenal have been chopping and changing that position.

If i was to do a combined 11 and be generous to Arsenal, would probably have the following

Leno
AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
Partey Pogba
Saka Bruno Rashford
Auba/ Cavani.

I’d say KT is every bit as good as Shaw DSG - but that’s a good side you’ve picked.

{Ed077's Note - Shaw or Tierney is a toss up really. But Shaw has been really really good this season. Also Leno vs DDG/Deano isnt a tossup IMO. I like Leno but he is third in that triplet in my opinion. Deano is 1st especially for PL. DDG of a few years ago would be easily the best though.

Gabriel and Holding both have upsides to their game but the fact that we can ague whether Maguire gets in or not is a damning indictment of the lack of truely good CBs at both clubs.

So my team is:
Deano
AWB Lindelof Gabriel Shaw
Partey Pogba(or Mctominay)
Saka Bruno Rashy
Cavani/Auba

Subs: DDG/Leno; Tierney, Maguire/Holding, McTominay(or Pogba), ESR, Greenwood?, Auba/Cavani

I would like to hear what team you guys come up with

This is a tough one because we can't help our own bias towards our own players that we like.

As a team United are functioning much better so it's natural that most players within the United team will look better more often.

I'd say United are achieving the most they can with the players they have available while Arsenal are unquestionably underachieving given the quality of players we have available.

{Ed014's Note - I absolutely wouldn’t swap squads and I’d take Bruno only if he stopped being a whiny little girl!

That and he turned up for the big games.

I agree 62, OGS is improving them year on year.

He is Banbury mate and to be fair I mocked him at the start but he's proved me wrong with 6th 3rd and likely 2nd place finishes.
If it had been Klopp or Pep taking over from Jose at United and they achieved what Ole has so far they'd be talked of as geniuses.
The question is can Ole take untied a step further? I don't know but with his record so far he most definitely has earned the right to try.

I think if we were playing to our potential and in or around top 4 then we'd have more players in this combination 11.
The problem is because we are so erratic like princess Fiona (one way by day, another way by night in Shrek) it makes players like Gabriel look hit and miss.
Put some of our individuals in the United Chelsea Leicester teams and they'd be much more highly rated in my opinion.

I’m willing to give him next season to prove it.

Easiet choice has to be the right back. First choice AWB, second choice, whoever Man Utd’s 2nd choice is, 3rd choice, erm, OGS fancy coming out of retirement and giving it a go? 4th choice, that bloke down the pub who is 20 stone but talks a good game, 5th choice, Sandra who runs the marketing team at Old Trafford, .15th choice. Bellerin. 😂.

Fair play Mark, it's all opinions mate and I really hope if your choice happens it pays off.
Personally I worry about the long term effects of another Arteta season on the clubs future.

Shaw over Tierney? 🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed014's Note - I love jokes like those Je, so many of their players are beyond over hyped.

All their CB’s are absolute garbage, if it wasn’t fir Bruno they’d be nowhere of note.

Shaw over Tierney? 🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed077's Note - I never thought I would see a day when Shaw was good enough to be a Man Utd player let alone one of the most consistent performer every week. He has been really good this season and changed my mind about him. But he still has to improve on parts of his game and also do it for a long long time. Its almost like having genuine competition for places can drive people on to try harder.

Tierney has been good as well. Its really a toss up between them two this season

😂100% ed014. I’d say for my 1st 11 I’d take AWB, Bruno and maybe Mctomminay (because I love his grit n determination) Rashford/ Pepe is a toss up for me, both inconsistent but yet dangerous.

Ed077, yeh I bet 😂. But I agree he’s come on leaps n bounds this season and the fact he’s keeping out Telles (who I think is a deadly fullback) that shows how well he’s performing. But. Tierney is a class above bro 🤣.

{Ed077's Note - he gets injured too often for me. Or has done. I like Tierney. I'm not really a fan of Shaw. But he has been really good since the arrival of Telles. Radford for me is much more consistent than Pepe. Pepe fails to even connect to the ball when he should be scoring too many times for my liking.

Tierney v Shaw shows how impossible it is for both sets of fans to put aside their bias.
This is one only the neutrals can be trusted on, obviously Spurs and Liverpool fans don't come into the neutral category for different reasons 😎.

{Ed014's Note - Shaw has shone in an invariably poor United side but he’s not of the class of Tierney and has never shown that for me.

United’s current squad has to be the most over rated ever. Truth is they don’t have a 1st 11 good enough to challenge.

To add to our squad I’d take, Bruno, AWB and Greenwood and if I had a choice elsewhere I’d 100% only take AWB.

They as a squad just don’t do it for me, I’d take, Liverpool, Chelsea, our own and City’s as a minimum before them.

Just way to many weaknesses and zero leaders, they bombed every time the pressures been on too and a win against City with little pressure is no measure.

Much like us beating Liverpool and City last season.

Henderson might be the best but he's barely played. DDG is past it. I'd have Leno or Henderson, no preference for either.
AWB wins over Bellerin and Cedric easily.
I'd probably have Maguire and Gabriel.
Tierney and Shaw roughly equal, Tierney's the better player but more injury prone.
Partey easily.
Pogba easily - if he can be arsed. Fred is a good backup though.
Fernandes, obviously (but he looks absolutely knackered these days)
Saka and Auba for sure. I'd have Odegaard and Rashford roughly equal but Rashford probably edges it because Odegaard's only been playing for us for a few weeks.

In all I don't think there's much of a gulf in quality between the two sides, it's more that Arsenal seem to be incapable of playing 90 minutes without one horrendous error. Arteta and OGS roughly equal in terms of ability too, OGS just much further along in his managerial journey. I think Arteta is around where OGS was in his second season at MU. Given a few more seasons and a roughly equivalent level of spending to MU I think Arteta would also be top 4 quite comfortably.

Shaw has done well of late but he was not in a good place under Jose and could have left, if we’d had this conversation then 100% of opinions would be saying KT even if he was in a Celtic top at the time, Shaw is at the top of his game currently, if both fighting fit I’d still just give it KT as he is continuously attacking and creating more.

The question has to be why have they finished 3rd and currently sit 2nd and us 8th and 10th respectively if our squad is so much better?
