Being reading today's papers and apparently Arsenal are looking to replace wenger. The rumored short list has ancelotti, Lowe, Rodgers, Jardim and Arteta.

I can understand Arteta, Jardim and Ancelotti but Brendan Rodgers? How far have we fallen off that we would consider Rodgers for a managerial position? Is it because other top mangers don't want to join us? Why isn't our so called short list containing Allegri, Tuchel or Sarri or even Simeone? I am not a big fan of either Allegri or Simeone but one thing i am sure of is that they will be an upgrade on Wenger. They won't tolerate mediocrity. People like granit xhaka and mustafi will get benched or sold.

Of the so called list Jardim is the only one i would pick though his Monaco team this season has shipped so many goals but he is an interesting coach as he was once accused of playing negative football but two years later produced an attacking team that took Europe by storm. So that tells you he is a coach who adapts to the players at his disposal. Ancelotti is past it, Rodgers is shit, Arteta is inexperienced but i wouldn't mind him as he is an ex player and i believe he would make a good coach and Lowe hasn't coached a club for ages. Just because a manger wins the world cup does not mean he would be successful at club level. Anybody remembers Scholari?

My pick would be Tuchel, Allegri or Sarri. Any other coach doesn't excite me. If we have to go for an ex player, i would choose Viera or Arteta. Henry has been mentioned too but he doesn't strike me as someone who would make a good coach. He is poor as a pundit, his analytical skills are weak (something you need as a coach) and his thoughts are inchorent as is his speech at times but Arteta and Viera seem analytical and give the sense that they have a deep understanding of the game.

Personally I wouldn't chose Rogers but what West ham fan would have chose Moyse? Stoke Fan Lambert? Everton fan Sam?
Moyse has been a high profile struggler since leaving Everton and became unemployable in most fans minds but for some reason West ham gave him a chance and he's done well.

Personally I'd like Sean Dyche but the most important thing is change happening because at least then we are trying to move forward whether it works fist second or third time round it's a step towards getting back to competitiveness.

Rodgers weak point in my opinion is defensive organisation, so surely you should be steering well clear of him for your next appointment!

Im not sticking up for rogers because i wanted him or want him at all but rogers sticking point was liverpool football club. From what i understand he gave them names of players, whom now are superstars and he was refused and he was let down by the club, who now have a different approach. Maybe they also learned a lot from it.

I found Brendan quite Bizarre during his time at Liverpool much of it but not all stems from the fly on the wall this is Liverpool series.
On his first game in charge I think it was WBA who stuffed them on opening day and after the game Brendan was trying to convince his players they had been the better team on the day despite being totally out played, all players seemed puzzled by him and I'm sure the TV viewers felt the same.
He's done well at Celtic but with the greatest respect they were in a one team league of their own long before he took over.

Gunner62,i don't think i have ever seen a good english manager since sir alex to be honest. You won't see many good english managers and the major reason i believe is because they don't explore like other european managers/ players. when they are players, they rarely play outside europe so they are not exposed to much. take spanish players. take the example of someone like xabi alonso. He played in spain, germany and england. Don't you think that would make him a good manager? He trained under guardiola, mourinho and ancelotti, the best coaches of this generation don't you think he would be a better coach from it?

And when it comes to managing, other european managers are willing to work for it. They learn different languages and coach in different leagues and in foreign countries. How many italian managers coach outside serie A? many. How many english managers have coached a big european team outside england? i think there is none since sir Bobby robson. The likes of Gary neville and carragher would yap on sky sports but won't make the effort to learn spanish, italian and be ready to work in those leagues. Until that culture changes, i don't think big teams will pick english managers.

And don't get me started on sean dyche. Most english managers flop at big clubs. Moyes flopped at united, rodgers at liverpool i am not sure they are a match for the other european managers. They can do well when the pressure is not on them but when it is they get found out. i am willing to give sean dyche a chance if he is willing to go to leagues like bundelsiga and serie a. let him prove himself first of all.

Alex Ferguson never learnt Italian spanish or german and never coached outside of the UK. He perhaps would have been a good manager if he did.

Lol steve fergie is just an exception to the general rule. I am just trying to pin-point why most european teams would not pick english managers and i elaborated the reasons. Biggest reason is that they are not willing to prove themselves. The italian, spanish, portuguese and german coaches are willing to start their work even in non fancy leagues. Take marcos silva and jardim for instances, they worked in greece and stuff like that and proved themselves. THe english managers are also never willing to learn new languages. They want everything to be handed to them on a silver plate which won't happen in this new soccer age.

If you are a young coach also, i have realized it is easier for a club to take a chance on you if you play attractive football. That is why i think eddie howe is more likely to get a job outside england than sean dyche. There is nothing special about what sean dyche does. His football is depressing to watch . Those tactics are outdated and won't work in continental europe.
